There have been a few games where the boxart says this, but a download actually isn't required to play the game. In addition, I believe the European and Japanese versions do not have this on the boxart. In this case, I'm going to wait for official confirmation. Hopefully it's on the cart.

Part of the game on the cart rest of the game is a digital download nothing new on the Nintendo front other games have pulled the same move. FFX is on the cart FFX-2 is digital, Bioshock does it, RE does it, Borderlands does it.

If only Nintendo were to put a Blu-ray player in the switch and pay the Blu-ray fee so we wouldn't have to worry about stuff like this. Rockstar are not about to use expensive cartridges to put the whole trilogy on there and cut down on their own profit. Why can't Nintendo for once do what's the norm in gaming(Blu-ray disks)

Congratulations! This is officially the single dumbest thing I’ve read all month, and that’s saying something

Sure sure high words coming from Nintendo loyalist. A Blu-ray disk can hold more data so in the case of GTA trilogy all data would be on physical disks. And could careless what Nintendo fans think y'all will buy a cardboard box for $60 and call it a innovation

Remember discman how often a cd would skip. It's not like they would make a Blu Ray umd

Blu-Ray discs in a battery powered handheld. Brilliant lol. What you're asking for is Nintendo to just make a regular, high powered home console. Not unreasonable to wish for, but that's not Nintendo's market anymore.

sweendog30d ago

How big would the switch have to be to fit a Blu-ray disc drive inside it? Yep stupid post

This really naffed me off when I bought the Bayonetta pack on Switch but only the 2nd title was physical.

It's a measure to combat piracy. You would be forced to update the firmware to access the store in order to download the rest of the trilogy thereby circumventing exploit opportunities that we see on the first version of the Switch.

Most people that hack their switch have to keep up with evolving versions of custom firmware, and definitely are familiar with manually updating their firmware. Hell, there are popular apps on the homebrew app store that do it all for you. I'm sure this is the publisher just not wanting to pay for high storage cartridges; they're expensive.

combat piracy lol is that a joke? The Switch is fully jailbreak, you can download any games and play it without worries.

Not all hardware revisions and then only up to a certain firmware.
