It amazes me how epic can give out free games like that. While Sony tied theres to a subscription

raWfodog105d ago

Don't forget that it was on Game Pass as well. Xbox didn't give it away for free either.

blackblades105d ago

I didnt forget about them, at least at one point Xbox gold gave out games that you keep even if you wasnt sub. I don't even own a will ever own one im just saying. I'm guessing the disagrees came from the losers that got mad I didn't mention MS Xbox.

Inverno105d ago

Part of the reason why they blowing through cash right now. I have over 300 games I believe, incredibly stupid on their part but who am I to stop them, it's their money after all. It's all incentive to spend money on their store but why spend money when you can wait for them to give the game you most likely want for free?

Eonjay105d ago (Edited 105d ago )

Epic is competing with Valve (who is selling this game for $59.99 on its platform). So don't you mean it amazing you how Epic can give it out for free (spoilers: they can't 'give it away for free'... Epic has to pay Eidos) while Valve is charging full price on its platform? This has nothing to do with Sony...

mastershredder105d ago

The game is totally a rush-to-market with some discount bling topping. It is quite worthy of a pass at free.

Fishy Fingers105d ago

Ok grumpy, I actually thought it was pretty fun.

INMATEofARKHAM105d ago (Edited 105d ago )

Completely agree! I'll freely admit it wasn't a game the year contender but it was solid, had a good story with a good amount if humor. It's an easy pick up at free. Hell, it was an easy pickup at the 15 or do dollars a pair last year at this time for it.

phoenixwing104d ago

Agreed. It's a good deal and the game was good at full price imo. Shredder if you don't like epics launcher just say so but don't deride a fun game over it. I don't like epics launcher so I haven't added any of their free games no matter how much they want to bribe me.

raWfodog104d ago

I waited to buy this when it was $20 but it was a very good game IMO. I don't ever pay full prices for any game but I believe that the quality and gameplay of this game was worthy of a full price purchase for many.

il-JumperMT104d ago

its one of the best marvel games. too bad avengers killed it

Psychonaut85104d ago

This game really didn’t get the sales it deserved.

10 of the best single player games you can play on a PS5 right now

The best PS5 single player games have incredible cinematic storytelling, impressive combat, or in Astro's case, charming platforming.

Some pretty dope indies could've made this list to.

gold_drake344d ago

the messenger is rly good ha.

repsahj345d ago

Awesome list! I agree 100%.

rippermcrip345d ago

Returnal honorable mention reason is dumb. It is a single player game with optional coop. Just like Elden Ring which is in the list.

VersusDMC345d ago

Coop wasn't even available till after a year after launch...by that reasoning ghost of tsushima(legends) wouldn't count?

jznrpg345d ago

Returnal is so fun solo I won’t ever try the co-op. It would be too easy imo

Abear21345d ago (Edited 345d ago )

Ratchet and Clank and Horizon are my picks. Miles and GoW are gathering virtual dust on the SSD. Good games just not as addicting as those imo. Returnal is best if you’re into that challenge.

No uncharted :( I had a blast playing the legacy of thieves collection at 120 fps.

The Guardians Of The Galaxy Game Deserved Better

In a world where superhero team-up games are clearly harder to do than some studios think they are, Guardians of the Galaxy nailed it.

Totally

This game was more respectful the comic books than the James Gunn films, it's kind of what I wanted from them but didn't get. It's packed full of lore and references, creating their own thing while still being respectful the source material.

Mantis alone was fantastic and they even gave her the mantis like blades

porkChop346d ago

I loved it. The whole mission with Mantis on Lamentis was hilarious because of all her lines. They really nailed the characters in that game. Drax had me dying with all his Dog Report Item stuff.

VersusDMC346d ago

The gameplay was the issue for me. So mid. Halfway through i just wanted it to play like a telltale game so i could get to the rest of the story faster.

porkChop346d ago

Yeah that was my only gripe. The combat could have had more depth and generally been more interesting.

Sgt_Slaughter346d ago

The game most likely suffered due to Avengers because Eidos-Montréal did additional work on the game in addition to Crystal Dynamics

senorfartcushion345d ago

Most of the time being respectful of comic books is worse for the adaptation.

The Zack Snyder films were more respectful to the comic Books - both in terms of characterisation and tone - but the world went with the Marvel movies, which basically took the superhero element out of their stories in favour of reflecting the lives of soldiers.

CrimsonWing69345d ago

It was my pick for GotY that year.

Such a fantastic game and well written. I feel it did more Justice to the Adam Warlock character than this new movie.

It’s annoying it didn’t sell well… errr well enough by Square Enix’s standards.

It was a great single player game filled with wonderful lore and nice touches. Journalists didn't cover it much either so I don't know what this person is on about.

0hMyGandhi346d ago

the article is great, but the headline is super misleading. The author is just saying that the game deserved far more recognition and praise than it actually did.

Moegooner346d ago

It suffered from various issues, including crashes and glitches. So there's that

chrisx345d ago (Edited 345d ago )

True that. I remember seeing mantis in the beginning of the game in my ship just standing in a corner like a statue. Long before you get to meet her in game. It was fun but damn it was a glitch fest haha

Daeloki346d ago

Not sure Midnight Suns deserves that shoutout, I barely made it past the first act before it grew too stale and repetitive to continue and there was nothing more to explore/discover in the base... Might pick it back up again after a break but overall pretty disappointed.

Guardians of the Galaxy tho, that one was a masterpiece. Admittedly I was super sceptical when it was revealed, fortunately a friend then bought it and convinced me it was worth it.

gold_drake345d ago

i liked it alot actually, made me laugh alot too haha.
