A new patent from Sony was just approved, outlining a system that lets livestream viewers vote, or pay, to kick players from a video game.
A lot of patents never make it to be a final product, it's likely that they're testing features to see what works and who knows, this feature could work in certain situation that we just haven't thought up yet.
Sounds to me lie they perhaps want todo a reality TV show kind of things.
Pay to kick someone??
On the contrary. Survivor competitiveness would be awesome.
This sounds like it's probably for a specific type of game or tournament type thing. Sounds interesting.
I've seen rom mods like this already on Twitch. I want to say it was Ocarina of Time I saw. People payed to Insta-kill Link, reverse controls, slow down the game, etc. This would obviously be something a stranger would have to activate and on certain games. It's cool, nothing major. But it's not the evil thing they want to make it sound to be.
What about just allowing donations and taking a part of it?
Obviously the players will have to opt into this mode when playing or it won't fly. But still do not see it as a viable option that will garner a following by users.
Sounds like a good idea tbh, under certain circumstances of course.
