Looking forward to this! Will scratch that GTA 6 itch

just_looken1015d ago (Edited 1015d ago )

Everyone please thank all the modders that already put these games on the rage engine they did 90% of the work and are now in court,

This was 2012 when they first started remaking the games for free

2019 gta 3 on rage engine
https://www.youtube.com/wat...

2017 gta san andreas using gta 4 rage engine code

court proof:

2017

Please do not buy this its just like resident evil 2 modder's do 90% of the work then get fucked over.

Teflon021015d ago

Isn't it using Unreal engine? Also, how is it anyone doing half the work when you dont even know what they're doing with it yet?

That's not doing half the work and getting fucked. It's called taking a risk with copyright. Think for the most part, PC players know damn well to just mod games and not to rebuild a game. That's always where they start getting at people. Sega is about the only company that's been supportive of these kind of things...

CobraKai1015d ago

That’s their problem. They fucked themselves over.

Profchaos1015d ago (Edited 1015d ago )

@Teflon02 it's using unreal for the user interface as it integrates really well with havoc whereas rage doesn't and building a 4k UI.in unreal is rather simple compared to havok. If your expecting anything above lighting and a few upscaled textures your probably going to be disappointed as it's been stated that Dev time accross this has been 1 year that is a rumour though.

Also rokstar were previously in support of the modding community throughout the years from when the mod scene turned vc into a playbox with some of my favourite mods to date to the early days of GTA v when rockstar publicly stated they were cool with mods in the single player portion of the game.

It's only now with the remake and remaster trend resulting in boatloads of cash for other devs that take 2 is really hurting it's hardcore fanbase shutting down mods left right and centre including old mods that are inactive.

They went after the re3 revc team for alleged reverse engineering and copyright infringement despite the mod requiring you to own the game legally first.
Rockstars statement from June 23 2017

Question: Are PC Single-Player Mods Allowed?

Answer: Rockstar Games believes in reasonable fan creativity, and, in particular, wants creators to showcase their passion for our games. After discussions with Take-Two, Take-Two has agreed that it generally will not take legal action against third-party projects involving Rockstar’s PC games that are single-player, non-commercial, and respect the intellectual property (IP) rights of third parties. This does not apply to (i) multiplayer or online services; (ii) tools, files, libraries, or functions that could be used to impact multiplayer or online services, or (iii) use or importation of other IP (including other Rockstar IP) in the project; or (iv) making new games, stories, missions, or maps. This is not a license, and it does not constitute endorsement, approval, or authorization of any third-party project. Take-Two reserves the right to object to any third-party project, or to revise, revoke and/or withdraw this statement at any time in their own discretion. This statement does not constitute a waiver of any rights that Take-Two may have with respect to third-party projects.

CDbiggen1014d ago

I never planned to buy this lazy cash grab anyway. Just upscaling the originals is good enough.

jambola1014d ago

so i assume you have not bought gta 5 or red dead redemption 2?

jambola1014d ago

the re2 peop;e were brought to work for capcom were they not?

TargusX1014d ago

One word for you - tw@t.

just_looken1014d ago

@jambola

No there work was shutodwn and then they were thrown into court just like the people behind mgs 1 remake though they never got fully sued just a slap on the wrist.

@Profchaos

Thank you i am glad someone has there blinders off rockstar of 2013 is dead if there is ever was a gta 6 it will never be like gta 5 not only has society changed in every form but every recent open world aaa game has had some form of micro transaction in it.

Just half to open your eyes and imagine gta 5 launching in todays market the game would be the manunt 1 launch fiasco but in different ways.

Oh also i have played read dead 2 over hyped game the single player is very scripted like a playbook for a actor and the multiplayer you need to work another 6hr shift after work to play it. My character in rdr 2 mp is a hobo as i need a 4-8hr work grind a day to maintain my lifestyle on there which is basic stuff. Also all the large earning jobs on there cost gold real $$$ or grind for a few hundred hours.

Orchard1015d ago

Looking forward to this - and really glad to read that we can expect GTA5 style controls & aiming - aiming was always terrible in the earlier GTA games.

JEECE1015d ago

Some people will want to die on the hill that the old controls were better, but they clearly were not. That's one thing that largely gets overlooked in discussions about how great old games used to be. Even though controllers have been about 90% the same since the Dualshock launched (ignoring Nintendo anyway), controls have vastly improved and become far more standardized. Before about the midpoint of the PS3 gen, it was hit or miss whether a game would just have unnecessarily wonky controls.

Good-Smurf1014d ago (Edited 1014d ago )

Of the three, GTA Vice City have the best controls but it have incredibly touchy first person aim.
GTA III cars tend to flip over too easily and feel slow and GTA San Andreas have much weightier controls but 1st person aim still don't feel right Zero missions really highlighted the worst flaws on gamepad controls.
Rockstar games other than Table Tennis and The Warriors have always have spotty controls and no way to fine tune them on consoles.

fitofficial1015d ago

You're not wrong that the old controls suck and GTA 5's were better, but tbh Rockstar controls have always sucked. RDR2 was a damn nightmare.

Teflon021015d ago

I just need a restart mission button lol

Blank1015d ago

All we had to do was get on the damn train CJ!!

PurpHerbison1015d ago

This better not feel like GTA4 or GTA5. Those games feel like they have unnecessary weight attached to them in everything you do that isn't driving. You'll have a character that is about 180lbs but feels as if he is 500lbs. This will destroy the classic feel of the PS2 titles.

Pocahontas1015d ago

Said no one ever compared to the first games

jambola1014d ago

first games? who's talking about the first games?

Shane Kim1015d ago

I actually didn't like that either. They felt slow and sluggish. Tommy Vercetti moves the best imo.

Fntastic1015d ago

The thing i mostly disliked about 3 was the vehicles acceleration and top speeds sucked. I didn't really have a problem with VC and SA. And in SA i found that jumping around was actually faster than running.

Profchaos1015d ago

Tommy runs weird and falls down like half the steps at the Diaz mansion when you sprint and looses a ton of life just on movement issues.
CJ was way more refined

Profchaos1015d ago

It will have the controls and aiming of GTA v according to the post. But you can switch back to classic mode according to rumour.

Also I'd daresay it would change the feel of the game if they introduced weight to character movement and the underlying game and objectives wouldn't allow for it so it's highly unlikely they will introduce that characters will turn on a dime.

In saying that I hope they can get Tommy to actually walk down stairs instead of flying off them hurting yourself when you sprint down stairs

neutralgamer19921015d ago

I am not too concerned about graphics overhaul I'm sure there will be better than before I just want some actual gameplay improvements because that's what affects the experience of the player

Fishy Fingers1015d ago

Like:

“Grand Theft Auto V-style controls and targeting”.

neutralgamer19921015d ago

And other quality of life features that were included in later GTA games. Mid mission checkpoints, auto skip missions if failed certain number of times(this way if there's a frustrating mission and someone keeps failing at it for 20 plus times they can skip it and move on to the next one) better more responsive driving

I am not sure if this is possible but I think a lot of those open worlds felt really empty due to the hardware being not as strong if possible that Rockstar could add more vehicles on the road and more NPCs walking around that would make the world feel more alive

slowgamer1015d ago (Edited 1015d ago )

I don't even remember what original control system was, probably not great but GTA V/RDR2 weapon wheel and movement is not pinnacle of greatness, they could use some work.
Will be interesting to see that brilliant lighting though. =D
Hopefully all the songs are in there, hard to imagine playing vice city with less iconic music.

-Foxtrot1015d ago

The music better be there, these guys print money, they can afford the licences.

Changing the radio stations of games like Vice City would be a slap to the face.

FullmetalRoyale1015d ago (Edited 1015d ago )

Great point about the music licenses. They absolutely have zero excuse to not go all out, add more to it *even. Maybe even add more radio dj content.

-Foxtrot1015d ago

@FullmetalRoyale

Totally agree, they really should add a few more songs to it, maybe 3-4 to each stations or at least the popular ones like Flash FM

If they want the easy way then they could just add the songs that were featured in Vice City Stories, it's almost a completely different playlist.

jeromeface1015d ago

you guys obviously have no idea what music licenses cost

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is Still Not up to Standard Two Years Later

Worse still though, it appears as though The Trilogy has been abandoned by Rockstar and Take Two Interactive.

By today's standards, I'd argue that being half assed, having a couple patches, and being abandoned and ultimately left still half assed is infact up to standards.

VenomUK221d ago (Edited 221d ago )

Yesterday I watched a YouTube video that said the new Netflix iOS/Android versions have a series of visual improvements that significantly improve it and bring it much closer to the vision and mood of the original games.

https://www.youtube.com/wat...

banger88221d ago

That's just a f****** insult. They need to release that patch for console/PC asap.

Chard221d ago

If this gets applied to the Steam/console version then I’ll consider getting it

Cacabunga221d ago

Cash grabs have rarely been tuned

1nsomniac221d ago

It was beyond garbage. But we’re all over it now right? like it never happened!

anast221d ago

It's was supposed to be a mobile game.

Knightofelemia221d ago

This is what happens when you farm something out to the wrong people.

Wow, Looks Like The Busted GTA Trilogy Is Better On Mobile

The Definitive Editions of GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas look better than ever according to fans

-Foxtrot224d ago

Probably because it looked like it was made for mobile

Profchaos224d ago

I've checked it out and there's a toggle there for original lighting when that's on you get the sun saturation back orange hues of San Andreas and tons more atmosphere in vc.

Seems to be a huge factor you lose dynamic lights and the overly out of the box he engine feel and the whole thing seems more artistically driven.

I hope this comes to the actual console and ps release eventually

Knightofelemia223d ago (Edited 223d ago )

Better to enjoy the games on PS2 least they weren't a pile of shit.

shinoff2183223d ago

Out of curiosity what is the issue with this trilogy. I was looking to buy it cause san andreas is still my favorite and I've been itching for it. Is it broken?

PhillyDonJawn223d ago

The put little effort into the remaster. It's more of a port than anything. The graphics are barely any better while the colors make it look kinda cartoony
