A step forward for the franchise mechanically, narratively, and philosophically, Metroid Dread is the ultimate sequel.
If the word of mouth, user reviews, critical reviews, sales or this article won't convince someone, what will?
zacfoldor Yeah i get that part and i'm debating whether i should get it or not but i've been watching MaximilianDood playthrough and i have to say i don't like the environments .. they look sooo sci fi stock to me. Very uninspired. This game right now looks to me like it has nothing on the greats of the genre, your Super Metroid, Symphony, Hollow Knight, Ori games..
@Levii The environments and atmosphere, although at times quite nice, are by no means a high for the series. The controls and gameplay are top notch for the Metroid series, in fact they are top notch for any 2d game.
@Babadook7 But Super Metroid had great environments and atmosphere that game looks and sounds like it has an identity you know what i mean ? As for the gameplay yeah it looks like it plays like a dream and i will probably get it at some point since i adore Metroidvania games and since there is absolutely nothing on the Switch that is even remotely interesting to me for a long time now. Also i noticed while watching the playthrough that the music doesn't stand out that much .. i'm sorry for the people that don't get it and that would spam downvotes on me but those are things that are really important to me in a game, especially Metroidvania games. I mean just look at the games i mentioned they excel in all of that and more. What can i say i hope i'm wrong about Dread and that i'll eat my words when i try out the game for myself.
No need to worry in the comments section about a game you haven’t played, IMO. Concern by those who haven’t play the game, + offhand ostensibly coincidental slight about the switch library, can be misconstrued as concern trolling, but to each their own.
I think you know the answer to that, I hate responses like their's where you can tell the disingenuous intent behind it
Man the boss fights are tough first few goes. I’m getting rusty in my old age.
That damn under water boss fight. I'm sure the game has some sort of gravity suit. Problem is when I fought him I didn't have it. That fight was a bitch. Lmao
Man you aren't kidding and I'm going through it with my rusty old too but it's bringing back so many memories from the original and the SNES one. I'm fighting a boss for maybe the 20th time right now. Hardest so far but I think I just about have him.
I’m kind of shocked how much I like this game. As it stands, in this point in time, this is my GotY.
Same here. I love that it has the same difficulty as the early ones. Before playing it I thought the E.M.I.I.s would be annoying but it's a rush running from them everytime.
This and Monster Hunter Rise are my GOTY
