Both are selling great! Luckily I have a PS5 and got the new Switch OLED. Can’t wait to get Metroid Dread.

darthv7254d ago

I just got Metroid and will be playing it on my kids switch until I can get my own OLED. So far good sales all around. I tried my damnedest to get a Halo Series X from gamestop this morning. I became a pro member yesterday in preparation but to no avail.

Mr_cheese54d ago

Darth,

I know it's an odd question but I'm curious as to what you do in life for work.

TheColbertinator54d ago

@Mrcheese

He's a Sith Lord obviously

addictedtochaos54d ago

Know what you mean, I had the Halo Xbox in my cart, went to check out, spinning and spinning, then sold out.

Orbilator54d ago

Got my Halo series X console on pre order for 19th November but I'm thinking now i dont want it now so may raffle it off for a local charity. Just buy myself the vinalla one as it won't make any difference

DJStotty53d ago

@addictedtochaos

I also tried preordering the console, instant sell out for me, i have even reached out to xbox and phil to see if they are planning another restock at some point, but to no avail....

darthv7253d ago

@cheese... well i can tell ya that Im not a console scalper seeing as i suck at getting them. I know that can be quite a lucrative career, given all the $$ to be made off of buying and flipping. Especially with the SX/PS5 and new OLED switch.

As it is i am an IT admin and am much better off now than I was 5-6 years ago. I didnt even get the XBO and PS4 until 2016 as I couldnt afford them. but now I have amassed a rather big collection of them thanks to a better paying job. https://consolevariations.c...

Oh and yes, in my spare time Im also a sith lord.

@Darth When you get your OLED Switch please tell us your impression of the system.
I bought myself a Switch lite last year and would love to hear how it's stack up versus the lite model and the original model.

As for getting a console I would suggest just doing random visits to your local Gamestop (mid-week)
That's how I got my Serie X and actually stumble 2 times on the PS5.

I got Dread but I’m skipping the OLED version unless they make it 199$ which will never happen before a new model comes out

iplay1up254d ago

Dread is a fantastic game! It is also hard AF. Get ready for epic boss battles! The only reason I am not getting an OLED, is because I game 95% in docked mode. I am sure one night when I have a 'few' I will order it anyway.

1Victor54d ago (Edited 54d ago )

I recently got my PS5 so I’m quite happy with it and now waiting for a worthy 4K tv with good gaming features wile playing all the backlog of psn+ games I build over the last few months 😂

UltraNova53d ago

Check out Sony's new XR TV line up - they claim unmatched PS5 pairing.

1Victor53d ago

@ultra I did and it pains me to say they don’t have enough gaming feature for me to get one at this time

blackblades54d ago

Get my ps5 tomorrow that I won cant wait

DJStotty53d ago

@Jin_Sakai

I may pick up a switch at some point, is the new OLED model good?

bradleejones53d ago

@Darth good for you man. Movin' on up.

darkrider54d ago

Now this is crazy. The ps5 almost selling more then the switch.

Zeldafan6454d ago

This is the week before the OLED launches, of course sales are down for the Switch.

fr0sty54d ago

On the other hand, you still can't find PS5's anywhere, so their sales are being restricted by lack of supply.

Blackcanary53d ago

@fr0sty Ur forgetting that you can still buy a crap load of PS5 from ebay and a few in CEX,

iplay1up254d ago

Switch has sold over 92 million. The new OLED, is coming next week. I already have a Switch, but will almost certainly, buy the OLED Switch anyway! In fact I am going to look now. Switch is definitely going to be a contender for being the most successful console ever.

yeahokwhatever54d ago

I cant buy another switch. I'll be waiting for whatever nintendo does next. simply dont trust the hardware. 3 controller failures within 6 months of light use is ridiculous.

Dandalandan11753d ago

@yeahokwhatever same here, I only use the switch casually and it still suffered from drifting. Not going to buy another one unless they improve the joycon's analog sticks.

GameZenith53d ago

Not more successful than the PS2.

SullysCigar54d ago

There will be a bump next week when the OLED comes out, so I'm not sure PS5 will do it anytime soon.

That said, Sony is opening a new chip factory (that news keeps getting stamped on at N4G, bizarrely), so we might see an uptick on PS5 sales at some point after Switch plateaus again.

Neonridr53d ago

I mean is it? The Switch is closing in on 100 million sold and is 4.5 years old. No surprise a hot new in demand item would eventually outsell it

darkrider53d ago (Edited 53d ago )

This switch is portable hybrid system that doesn't have competition. Their main target isn't even the same of the ps5. Any system that can come close is a big deal, even if next week the oled gimmick will make them sell double or more

Neonridr53d ago

@darkrider - I mean it plays video games, so it is 100% a competitor. For someone who doesn't have extra disposable income it might come down to purchasing only one. The OLED model will boost sales significantly next week.

trunkswd54d ago

This is the week before the launch of the Switch OLED, so a drop in sales isn't a big surprise. All consoles are selling pretty well right now.

roadkillers54d ago

This has some facts behind it. Give the Switch a month to see if the steam is running out. The Switch sales have been declining since the announcement of the OLED. They were selling 1+ million at the beginning of the weekly this year. Now it's down to 250,000

kayoss53d ago (Edited 53d ago )

PS5 is drastically hampered by supply issues.

babadivad54d ago

So it lost to the Switch. What an odd way to title an article.

NeoGamer23254d ago

The world evolves around PS. Get used to it.

EvertonFC53d ago

It does if you want proper games

thesoftware73053d ago

baba,
That is what I said...very strange wording.

Jay76754d ago

The switch sales are starting to decline which is natural for almost five year old hardware. I hope Nintendo start taking about their next gen console plans next year.

Stanjara54d ago

This is before OLED model... Next week 500k switch.

Zeldafan6453d ago

If the Switch Lite is anything to go by then probably more like 600k
