This amiibo thing has always been jacked up to me. If you’re a collector, aka big financial supporter of us, then we give you perks for your support. You other filthy casuals that ONLY buy our game…. thanks but spend more. Seriously though. Perks for preordering early, sure. Perks for having a save from the previous game in the series, sure. Perks for buying something that will be a paperweight after this game? Nah I’m good. Meaningful perks too. A health tank? Wow.

I thought amiibos also worked on other games? Like can’t you unlock skins in non-related games sometimes? I felt like you could use them in Fire Emblem. I don’t know though, I never used one.

Also, what’s wrong with this vs DLC in other games?

Deathdeliverer1300d ago

About all games that use amiibo require a amiibo related to that game to get a perk. Mario Kart needed Mario amiibo for example. The difference is 1) Amiibo cost from $10-$30 retail. Ridley for example is like $23. DLC for example comes with playtime for those prices. New areas, characters, expansions.
2) Other games would give you the things amiibo gives you as a preorder bonus or in a collectors edition along with a soundtrack, digital art gallery, so on. Nintendos like preorder bonus? Naw. Buy this overpriced amiibo you probably don’t have space for and we can talk.

The 10 Biggest Nintendo Direct Moments of the Switch Generation

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "Last week Nintendo held this year's surprisingly packed not-E3 Direct; with a full schedule for this year and a vague promise of a console successor next year, it's very possible that we've now seen our final Nintendo Switch Direct, or at least one with major first party reveals. That makes this a good time to sit back and reflect on a generation of Direct moments, from the shocking and surprising, to the joyous and exhilarating - and, quite often, all at once."

Metroid Dread Has Sold Over 3 Million Copies, Reveals Developer

Enric Álvarez, the CEO of Metroid Dread developer MercurySteam, has revealed that the title has now sold over three million copies worldwide.

It’s good to see Metroid do well. Hopefully we hear something soon about Metroid Prime 4

Hereandthere640d ago (Edited 640d ago )

Wait up, 3 million worldwide out of a possible 120 million is considered good for a legendary franchise like metroid?

JEECE640d ago

Metroid has never sold super well. Lots of people under under the mistaken impression that, because franchises like Mario Kart, Smash Bros., 3D Mario games, more recent Zelda games, and Animal Crossing sell huge numbers, that all Nintendo franchises sell at that level, and that they always have.

This is pretty good for a Metroid. Dread will probably end up being the best-selling game in the franchise, if it isn't already.

Sciurus_vulgaris640d ago (Edited 640d ago )

Metroid Prime was said to have sold 2.8 million copies, so Dread is likely the best selling game in the series.

It took some doing but I'm glad it finally made it past that milestone.
