French newspaper Le Monde has been found guilty of libel while outlet Mediapart has been exonerated—oddly for reporting on the same set of events.
If the two outlets collaborated on the same story how can only one of them be found guilty? That doesn't make any sense. Also, I remember the story about David Cage asking the judge out loud if he could lie under oath. I honestly thought that was fake. He actually did that, that's insane. I remember that same story reported him throwing a temper tantrum and storming out of the court. He seems like a bit of a diva.
Asking a judge if you can lie in court never seen or heard of that move before. I know people who are sworn in hand on the bible but yet still lie but to ask a judge if you can lie that a new one.
Winning a libel suit against Le Monde....wow. Thats like taking New York Times to court. And Le Monde took the hit instead of giving up their sources.
