What Made X-Men Origins: Wolverine The Game Great?

Besides Wolverine being my favorite anti-hero since I was like 8, the game had that feeling of what it would be like to play Wolverine. It was M rated, so the kiddie gloves were off. It was fun, fast, and brutal, and that's all I could ask for in a Wolverine game.

I hope Insomniac has the freedom to make Wolverine feel the way Origins did, but I hope that Insomniac draws more from the comics than from movies or shows. Wolverine has SO many villains that could be in the game. Sabertooth is a given of course, but I want to see classic villains like Omega Red, Cyber, Lady Deathstrike, and Silver Samurai, just to name a few.

And I know it's a longshot, but some cameos from Hulk, Punisher, Deadpool, X23 and the one or two of the X-Men or New Avengers wouldn't be a bad thing either. I'm excited as hell just thinking about everything Insomniac can do with this game if they had get the freedom to do it.

I’m not near my PS3, but there used to be a demo on the EU store as well. Something to look into.

I doubt there even was a digital release. In 2009 most digital games were indies and it wasn’t until late in the console lifecycle that most AAA games got a digital release

It was unapologetically fun. You could do a bunch of cool, crazy stuff. It was bloody. It was violent and hyper-surreal. It didn't try to be anything it wasn't.

In other words, it's everything games aren't now. Balanced, "realistic", vanilla... boring boring boring.
