Played the first four hours and I can honestly say that this is an excellent title out of left field... for me. I was aware of the "Tales of" series. But if they are all like Tales of Arise, I plan to visit all the ones on PS4 and PS3.

you'll probably enjoy those games except for tales of zestiria it was terrible imo

There is one constant in the series, and that's the battle system.

All the entries have their individual faults, but you can always expect fun battles.

Tales of Vesperia and Abyss was my favorite

Not even close production values wise and they have wildly different gameplay anyway

they are both JRPG. BD 2 is better polished in gameplay mechanics and storywise. Also ToA doesn't have unique visual design unlike BD, graphics are great but design is generic at best. Music in BD is also better.

Last area damn near broke me with how repetitive all the fighting got and it was the same enemies over and over and they weren’t going down fast, either.

Its not a tales game without a bloated, backtracking filled last 10 hours.

Oof, when you think you get to the end it all reverses the area and you run through it again… I was like, ok, gonna do a save and pick it back up on the weekend. All in all, the game is an 8/10 in my book. After I’m done with the post-game stuff I can’t see myself ever replaying this game.
