The Switch Lite is Potentially Holding Nintendo Back

The Switch Lite is a great device, but it takes away a lot of the original identity of the Switch by locking its Joy-Cons to the console itself.

I said it when the console was announced. The switch lite is a fully contained system and I see it as a way or elongating the switch generation. Nintendo doesn't really need more power in their eyes so they don't care if they go another 5 years on the switch. Because the joy cons cannot be removed, a switch 2 can't come out and you just undo the joycons and buy the new screen, it's a whole new system that can't be interchanged. I also feel like they might slightly revise the joy cons so you have to buy new ones too or the whole new console.

I don't remember any company replacing my handheld, or controller, when the joystick broke.

I prefer the light. I only play mine as a handheld, my joycons disconnect a lot, and I only like motion controls in VR.

Anyway I greatly enjoy the Switch Lite more so than the regular. It is lighter and can play all the Switch games I enjoy without any hitches. Rarely do I use the Switch as a console.

There is no good reason for them to hold back this long other than that maximize profit margin with outdated hardware overpriced games and accessories rinse and repeat.

Literally everyone feels actually Nintendo is holding Nintendo back and it is su frustrating.

We are not even asking for proper online support. Give us a store to buy N64 and GameCube titles and that fixes the main problem with the system: HUGE gaps between big releases.

Also, their IPs are often ignored or get old ports for $60. At this point we should have an actual Pikmin sequel, a decent Metroid, a good Yoshi Game, a Donkey Kong sequel.....even more than ONE Mario platform game on Switch.

My PS4 has been collecting dust because of my Switch Lite. I'm having a blast with all the visual novels and FPS's that I play on it. If anything releases that I'm interested in gets a physical Switch release then I'll go for that. I also collect limited run and import physical versions of games. I just paid $150 for World End Syndrome and I plan on getting Clannad for $200. Thanks to Playasia I'll be getting a physical version of Fatal Frame: Maiden of the Black Water. I also have preorders with LRG for Doom: The Classics Collection, Dusk and Quake. Also, can't forget my preorder for the GOAT itself, Doki Doki Literature Club Plus! First time I've been a Nintendo fan since the N64. Currently playing Aokana and Duke Nukem 3D on it. Who else loves visual novels and first person shooters on your Switch Lite? I demand an OLED Lite now. I'll buy it without second thought.

Not including TV-support was a dumb decision. I get they want to push sales of the regular models that way, but these things would sell like crazy if they supported it. There are also other reasons to get the regular model

Yeah but my TV is for my PS3 and PS4. The reason for a Switch to me is having everything on a small screen.

I would argue it is the dock holding them back. Anybody who uses Switch docked should see it as well. It would be a great console if this was 1995 but it was planned for release at the end of 2016. I actually think the Wii U was better as a console than Switch simply because it had the standard online functions and things like Netflix or an internet browser. Plus the online was free.

It is not just the 4K graphics Switch doesn't have. It lacks the online functionality to make it on par with the competition. If Wii U lacked the features Switch did it would have been criticised harder. I really cannot believe gamers embraced the docking feature like they did because Wii U would not have gotten away with the sins Switch commited as a console.
