Despite some issues (too much third party stuff), it's the only gaming press conference this year that brought any huge hype. E3 was quite poor and lacked any megatons.
Wolverine, Spider-Man 2, Ragnorok and KOTOR brought the hype. GT7 looks pretty good as well.
To bad the people on the internet can't just enjoy but instead sit there and troll and try to trigger people with bull. This day and age you get shot for that or whatever.
I thought they nailed it - really solid show. Very possibly they best single showing this year, which has obviously been impacted in terms of planned output throughout the industry.
I'm pumped for a bunch of the games they showed, both exclusives and multiplatforms.
The highlights from shows of the year so far (for me) have been the announcements of spider man 2 and wolverine as well as remake of KOTOR and then of course the halo infinite series x console. SM2 we sort of knew it was going to be announced at some point but those other three... totally out of nowhere.
The final 10 minutes or so were great. Really exciting. But the rest of the show was just ok. Not bad by any means, but it was just a lot of 3rd party stuff that we knew about already. Overall it was a good show, but it would have been much stronger if they trimmed some of the fat.
I do agree that the rest of the presentation was just okay like a lot of other presentations this year, but yeah, at least we got some "Oh S***" moments towards the end once it was all Sony games.
I have a feeling we'll see Factions by the end of the year as well.
Come on, Regnorok is giving hype like 4 years in a row. SONY knows how to milk a game without release it. They showed the title and just showing the title SONY won that E3 hahaha, fan boys act as it was a surprise another God of War, two years later they showed a date of release and fanboys almost lost their minds. 4 years later they give us a delay that everyone knew and after miss all the games shows they give their own show with finally the gameplay of Regnorok which is nothing much different from the last god of war but that is good for me have to say. Imsomniac was the only surprise and Wolverine hasn't gameplay but I have good hopes. The Spiderman saga is a good thing too. Gt7 is just another milky title to make the gameshow looks full but it wasn't.
GT7 and Ragnorok were announced last year at the PS5 reveal.
"Come on, Regnorok is giving hype like 4 years in a row." GOW (2018) only came out 3 years ago and Ragnorok's existence was only revealed less than 12 months ago. What are you talking about?
I said (LIKE 4 years) showing that I wasn't sure. It isn't less true because you said 3 years. You will be seen a piece of gt7 every show, every year for next 3 years.
@alb And? MS dropped trailer for halo years back. How long has everyone been waiting for that? while they plug it at every opportunity they get? All companies do this now. Give you a tiny teaser, then drip feed us for half a decade. Nothing new. Sony just done the same with Ragnarok
Disagree greatly. I don't mind that they showed 3rd party. Are we not going to play them or don't want to know about them just because they're 3rd party? Also E3 was great imo.
I suppose the issue for some of the third party games is just overexposure. Deathloop (already had a dedicated State Of Play), GTA5, Guardians of the Galaxy and Rainbow Six Extraction would be good examples of that.
Games like Forspoken, Project Eve, and Wonderlands were a better fit. We've seen limited or no gameplay of those games (Project Eve was just newly announced).
Wolverine no gameplay KOTOR, again no gameplay. Spider-man 2 next to zero gameplay(Might have actually been only cutscenes). GT7 - 30 seconds of actual gameplay, rest was menu features and car lust. Ragnorok. That hyped me with real gameplay. Horizon Forbidden West state-of-play earlier this summer. I am hyped!
The things that have me super hyped right now is Forza Horizon 5, Horizon Forbidden West, and God of War Ragnorok.
Deathloop is also starting to grow on me each time I see it.
GT7 and Halo is interesting. I hope they live up to their franchise history.
Spider-Man 2 is for 2023, and Wolverine will be after that, so I assume they will be PS5 only. Maybe I'm being a bit naive though.
It would be pretty bad if we're still getting cross gen games at that point. They were mostly gone after around 2 years for the PS4 (MGS5 is the last non sports one I remember). I hope GOW2 is the last one this gen.
@Lucas - agree fully. I'm excited to see what true next-gen Sony games are going to look like when they are built from the ground up for the PS5 only. So exciting to think about.
Only Sony event brings the hype up to this point this year. Both Microsoft and Nintendo is really not doing anything exciting games wise. This event great despite few 3rd party stall the flow a bit especially the cash grab that is GTA V that extra few minutes could have gone for another 1st party announcement. Still very hyped and I'm still watching GT7 trailer on repeat.
Yeah because Fable Avowed Indiana Jones Forza Horizon 5 Halo Infinite Starfield The Elder Scroll 6 Redfall Forza Motorsport Everwild The Outer World 2 Perfect Dark And Hellblade 2 isn't enough to give hype. All coming to Gamepass. Yep, just Sony is bringing hype jajajaja!
I see only Halo and Forza, with strong maybe for Hellblade 2 and Fable. And I would still exchange them for Wolverine and Spider-man in a blink of an eye.
