Imagine if Sony brought games like the Last of Us to PC, so much more potential to see how their games can really look and take advantage of the PC's power. Small example: https://www.youtube.com/wat... The Last of Us - Visual Comparison PS4 Pro/RPCS3 1080p That's a PS3 emulator but you can clearly see how much more sharp it is on PC and more detailed.

Furesis1339d ago

Sharper yes because resolution scaling, but more detail? bruh (it's literally missing some effects lmao)
I have the emulator and last of us (i still have the physical copy when i pre-ordered, i think it also included GoW: Ascension MP beta or something as well xD)
and it runs like ass, for me at least, but i'm with you on the PC part. They should bring their older games to PC so that everyone can enjoy them, and i wouldn't have to rely on a emulator.

EvertonFC1339d ago

I never understand why PC gamers don't just get the console when it's in its last year.
You can afford a PC but not a £200 end of gen console?
Oh wait that's right, it's all about free with you lot

Furesis1339d ago

@EvertonFC My 2nd ps3 broke and i sold my ps4 because i wasn't using it much. I could buy one but why would i do that when i wouldn't use it? You don't know me, so stop putting words in to my mouth, thanks.
It's got nothing to do with money.

-Hermit-1339d ago

@EvertonFC

You're an idiot. There are many reasons why people prefer emulation, one of them being that once the emulator's development reaches a certain point, it's way better to play a game on the emulator than the console itself.

On PC, you're not tied down to the same restrictions that consoles have.

porkChop1339d ago

Well they bought Nixxes specifically to port PS exclusives to PC. So it's clear we'll be seeing a lot more PS exclusives head to PC. Otherwise, Sony wouldn't be investing in the PC market.

mkis0071339d ago

Personally I'm fine with ports after 2 years for first party developed titles. They were only going to get emulated anyway, might as well get some more money for new titles.

Sony can't afford day one pc releases as they dont get money from the platform itself.

jukins1339d ago

@mkis007 sony doesnt make money from pc games being sold? What? The roi is insane they made a ton of money of horizon and days gone because it didnt take much to port. Its not about "affording" its just making sure playstation is its primary.

ANIALATOR1361339d ago

@EvertonFC
I think it's more the fact it's better to have everything at some point or another on the same platform that acts like an archive so we can always play games at their best, no matter how old it is. Granted, PC does have major problem with installers, there's far too many. That's one way in which consoles are better in my opinion.

@Everton:

Got a back compat ps3, ps4 pro and a ps5 and yet I still rebought Horizon, Days Gone and Detroit on PC

I like replaying these games but I'd certainly rather play them with better graphics at actual 4k (not 1440 or checkerboard) at 60fps with faster load times. I'm also obsessed with gyro aim like so many Switch games have, and the Steam controller configurator allows that in every game - a niche feature but one I personally use and love. Steam Remote Play also works 1000 times better than the PS5 from my office for some reason. I also sync the lights behind my TV to the game. PC is way easier for streaming too and I can use NVidia Broadcast to AI remove background noise from my mic. I could go on forever there's tons of reasons.

So stoked for the Uncharted 4 PC release lol I've been dying to replay that. Been a while

It's not a money thing or a piracy thing, it's a quality and customization thing and wanting to play the best version of the game. I'm not playing UC4 on PS5 at 1440p 30fps without gyro or lights in 2021 when there's a really good chance I thankfully won't have to in a few months

Doom: The Dark Ages Disc Is Pretty Much Useless Because You'll Need An Internet Connection Anyway

People who already have their hands on physical copies of Doom: The Dark Ages are warning that the full game isn't actually on the disc.

There's zero reason why this game couldn't be on disc it was a strategic move to not allow the game to be played after the servers go down

Tacoboto5h ago

Same situation with AC Shadows this year, Hogwarts Legacy a couple years ago; PS Collector's Editions likely won't include a disc ever again; Xbox Game Studios definitely won't release a full disc ever again
PS5 Slim + Pro disc drives require online activation and so does the Series X

It's a shame. I think I'm done buying physical. It's an extra expense for an already-expensive PS5 Pro I want before DS2 and GoY, and they'll probably kill off those activation servers way before the store in the future.

Profchaos3h ago

It's just sad and annoying even switch 2 is failing in physical.
Sad future where kids are unwrapping digital codes on Christmas morning but it's a reality we seem to be driving towards

GamingSinceForever2h ago

I seriously doubt that kids are going to be upset after unwrapping digital codes for a game they wanted. 😂

Besides the digital age is their era not ours.

Profchaos2h ago(Edited 2h ago)

I don't know I mean I give switch games now and they get hyped but if it's a game that just appears on their home screen after getting a receipt there's just not much excitement.

I do get what you're saying though and I'm probably just a. Old man yelling at a cloud but I don't know it's also what I see lately along with my own experiences which are redundant definitely

MetroidFREAK215h ago

Yeah, Microsoft could've used two discs for the Xbox version and a proper PS5 disc for the game. However, they hate physical media now so the game is a skip. Even though I really love Doom

neutralgamer19925h ago

It's really sad since Phil was talking about preserving the games

Tacoboto5h ago

If the servers *do* stay up though?

Xbox is the only modern console platform where discs from the 2001-era console still do work today. It's the only advantage Xbox has left

-Foxtrot2h ago

Phil Spencer has this habit of saying something (and making a big deal of it) then his actions show him doing the opposite

Tacoboto1h ago

"his actions show him doing the opposite"

By supporting games from 2001 in 2025? What other platform does that?

Hedstrom4h ago

Kinda sad. For most people in the west it doesnt mather. But in other parts of the world the physical releases are crucial to have gaming in that Region of the world

-Foxtrot2h ago

All it does is make me less likely to get it at launch, just like Indiana Jones. I’ll pick it up when it’s far cheaper. I still haven’t even bought the Oblivion Remaster yet.

At the minute I still have a lot to play so it’s not like I don’t have anything else to play in the meantime.

It just annoys me that they either could fit it into a disc or they could start using newer discs that can hold more.
