With the upcoming Anniversary Edition of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, it's time to look over all the different versions of the game and rank them.

haha totally. I was gonna joke about how many years it took to unarchive and rate them... the originals must of been coded on punch cards lol

That’s weird though lol. It does feel ancient. I guess when you are waiting for the next elder scrolls (which I am) and their new announcements are Skyrim over and over it feels longer than it really is. 7 is a lot but it just feels way older than that lol.

I agree with the author. The Virtual Boy version was #1 for me as well.

and ppl think the next elder scrolls will be only on the xbox/pc. no way that happens, it is bugsthesda's main cash cow and they will want to put it on every platform possible and then remaster it for the next decade and a half just like they have done to skyrim

But, Bethesda is now Microsoft's main cash cow, and they did not buy them for unit sales. I think a PS/Nintendo release is unlikely, unless they decide to allow Game Pass on those systems. They have been pretty clear about their strategy on this. Time will tell I guess. I suppose a timed release is a possibility, but Day 1 is not happening.

I disagree. The PSVR version is the best version. I know, mods are cool. I know having customizable graphics can be nice. From someone that beat Skyrim to the point that the map was virtually clear and I was one shotting any dragon with a single arrow on max difficulty….. (in other words I played a LOT of Skyrim) NOTHING could get me to play it again.
Then Skyrim VR happened.
I’m wasn’t a fan of the teleport movement so much at first. Once I got past that and had a couple fights…. I was already falling for it. Cutting off a head because you cut off a head is amazing. Holding your shield in one direction and stabbing over it is amazing. Going into a inn and actually using the “sit” option then proceeding to hear the conversations all around you with the 3D headset. Hearing the person in the corner behind you talking about things. Hearing the person playing music that really sounds the correct distance away out of sight. Hearing the freaking hearth burn and crackle… and that whole time you’re noticing a spider web in the corner of the ceiling. That was more than amazing. But the true killer? Having a spell in each hand. Holding a fireball in your left hand while electrocuting enemies to your right. The sound accurately coming from where it sounds like it would be. Hearing that crackling flame hurling down a hallway and echoing going farther from your ear while you still have the crack if lightning going in a direction you aren’t even facing because you’re standing with your arms outstretched and firing down both directions in a corridor. It is nothing short of incredible. Cannot be overstated. Throwing a shield at a enemy? Yeah that’s cool. Screw it, throw a sweet roll at him. That was comedy. But man…. That dual spell wielding is magical. No pun intended.

How long ago did you play it? They did a meaty update/overhaul and you can play with smooth movement now as well. It’s awesome. I got really back into it as well but didn’t complete it again. Being able to peer around corners firing off arrows is so good, your ability to aim with super precision lightening fast is also awesome. But on even on the pro and even after the big update the graphics take a serious kick in the nuts. Not enough to ruin but enough effect the wow factor somewhat. VR does give everything a real sense of scale though, and in Skyrim it’s very powerful

I got it when it came out. I had got the Skyrim VR bundle back then. If PSVR2 gets rid of the screen door effect AND let’s the game run at full graphics power…. Damn. As to your question the last time I played was about 6 months after I got it. I still didn’t beat it again, but I did wish that was the first time I had ever played it so I could have experienced the game all the way through in VR. Unfortunately I had burned myself out on the game. I acknowledge it’s incredible nature in VR, but with all the newer games I could NOT bring myself to beat it again. I went purely magic and archery (just like I did in Skyrim OG) but also because those two styles felt the most incredible in VR. Lightning+ Both hands= Sith Lord dreams realized. Damn I might fire it up on my PS5 on my off day.

Exactly the same for me, played it out on of 360 release and never went back (apart from vr). But in honesty I think I’d be tempted to try the next version on series x and game pass if it’s enough of an update. Thinking the same with gta v as well to be fair, I’ve beat that maybe 3 times 😂. I did 250 hours in oblivion but Skyrim never really hooked me quite the same

Agreed. No amount of modding or big screen or taking it on the go will compare to Skyrim VR.

Like watching through a window or actually feeling like you're there. The immersion is just not even close on a TV.

By his definition in the article, Skyrim VR for PC has both. Mods and VR. It should have won.

Well they don't cover every version.
The gamepass on PC version is by far the worst....since you know it doesn't work.
