Today Chinese developer Game Science released another spectacular trailer of its impressive game Black Myth: Wukong.
Looks fucking great. Hit detection looks a bit weird on that Ice Dragon boss. Still to years out but looking damn fine.
Hell yeah, this game looks like it has it all. very satisfying gameplay, mature storyline, cutting edge graphics, variety of enemy types, and just that intagible "it" factor that grabs your attention. Sure some subtle things to work out, Id like to see more attacks/ use of the environment but damm this looks like my kind of game.
This truly looks next gen, and it looks fun to play.
Visually stunning, every pebble on the ground fully 3D rendered, the snow even reacts to his staff touching it at points. We've entered into an era of visual storytelling with these new graphics that is going to take things to a new level of cinematic storytelling. There really aren't many graphical limitations holding developers back from creating believable worlds anymore.
Now this what I call next gen! My PC is ready!!!
"Can it run WuKong?"
Looking forward to the DF RTX 2060 DLSS test in 2023
I'm probably going to day 1 this.
It looks great but can't say it looks above or beyond anything I am expecting out of this current gen (PS5, XBSX, etc.)
To me at least, it honestly looks significantly better (graphically) than anything I've seen up to this point. That's assuming we aren't being bullshot but even the earlier UE4 videos of this looked really good. At least I think they were UE4.
Graphically there are games that look as good technically, but they're not heavily gameplay / AI based games. I'd argue Flight Simulator, Forza, and artstyle wise Ratchet and Clank & Demon's Souls can hold up, but when you take into consideration the Gameplay physics, enemy AI, etc... this becomes even more impressive. The closest thing so far IMO is Horizon Forbidden West gameplay, that being said Horizon is a PS4 Pro game first and foremost that will have a 60fps mode, whereas this is high-end PC first backed by DLSS to hit and stick to those higher fps. Looking forward to what FSR and Intel's DLSS rival brings to console.
Hope we’re not getting cyber punk’d here. Just have that feeling when I see “Does not represent the final look of the game.”
This game can't be too far off from releasing. They've shown a lot of the game already and it looks and runs better than most games that have released this year
They showed a 13 minute gameplay trailer exactly a year ago, i predict release this year or early 2022.
13 minute trailer from 365 days (1 year) ago for the disagree crew :- https://n4g.com/news/236667...
This is their third gameplay video. Edit: Here's the 2nd one, 6 months ago:- https://youtu.be/5oyu1y9dN4... Gameplay trailers exactly 1 year apart doesn't necessarily dictate that the game's coming exactly a year later. They've also shared numerous work in progress snippets too over the year and have shared that, there's lot of development still left.
Also the devs have said to IGN China that they plan to release Black Myth: Wukong by 2023.
The devs have already said it wont be any earlier than 2023. Thats why people are disagreeing with you.
@DJStotty 😅 Ummm, https://www.google.com/sear...
@ABizzel1 From the source you provided :- "There's no confirmed release window as yet for Black Myth: Wukong. Game Science Studio said last year it was aiming to bring the game to PC (which is a sure bet given the DLSS support) and consoles by 2023." BY 2023, so entirely possible for a 2022 release date, i would not rule out an earlier 2022 launch either, like i said, its a prediction.
Those are some next-gen graphics right there. Would be cool to know what they ran it with. UE5 is pretty heavy as is, and that ran 60fps mostly, with some dips. Not sure about the contents and gameplay, but art direction is superb.
Yeah I was hoping they would have put more info specs rather than just Geforce RTX.

@RaidenBlack Ta for the heads up.
@RaidenBlack Oh wow, rtx 2060 4K DLSS balanced (1080p internal resolution), huh... I do wonder if the trailer was truly captured with the 2060, or if they separately just gave those images on twitter. The lightning looks stunning, and I'm starting to think more and more that ray tracing in its current form is not required if you have something like UE5.
I'll just say it, this is one of if not the most detailed game of this type period. Look at that snow fight and how the snow gets trenches even from the air attack the boss did and the weapon swings. The fire on the ground, all that is crazy. It's definitely the prettiest lookest soulsy game out there and it's shaping up to be a fun time.
This is just the beginning of Unreal Engine 5 too, can you imagine in a couple years jeez!
Beautiful graphics and detail. UE5 has me pretty excited.
well im sold :) bring that sh*t
This is THE SHIT!
Elden ring 👍 Black Myth: Wukong 👍
I cant deny it! this excites me more than elden ring
This is going to really show what the PC is made of. Hopefully by the time this game is done, Nvidia will have their next gen GPUs ready and sold out in about a sec 🤣
Please don't be a roguelike.
Looks really good. But gameplay seems meh, and the dragon is way too shiny to see details.
That's what I got from it. The graphics and deformation, etc look amazing. The gameplay looked meh. And I'm usually a person that waits to see for myself on the action. Maybe the guy sucked. Maybe the difficulty was set to low. Who knows. But after playing Ghost of Tsushima combat, I became less impressed with what I was seeing and didn't even finish the video. Just a lot of dodging that became boring. It needs a counter move or parry or something for the light attacks from enemies. But it LOOKS amazing. I definitely can say that.
How would you suggest the gameplay be improved?
It's the core combat. It's flashy but stale. They made great strides improving the graphics and detail. I don't think anyone can deny that at all. But the attack and roll around, then attack then roll around is PS3 era demon souls combat. It was great then. Not looking great in this title. It's like going back and playing Tenchu on PS1. That combat was great then, but stiff now. Or Resident Evil tank controls worked then, but don't work today. If they are capable of improving everything else, the combat should also be next gen. When I mentioned Ghost, that game allows you to attack an attack. Basically parry a light attack with a forceful counter attack leaving the enemy open. Bigger ones were of course unblockable. Not once did I see the character in this game block any smaller attacks. Just kept dodging until the enemy stopped attacking, then attacked him after the energy wave. But if you could block a smaller attack, again, like Ghost, you could lead into a combo of hits. Like Street Fighter. If you ever watched a good player, they would block your attack leading into a counter attack. A parry might stagger the enemy as their momentum falls forward allowing you to attack from behind. Again, Ghost combat system makes this game's system seem old news. New consoles should be fast enough to have faster animations, faster timing, more moves, etc. Even the enemy could benefit from the same parry, counter, block, dodge system that would lead the player open for attack. Seriously, watch some of the best Ghost of Tsushima players on YouTube as I play the game like them. Then come back and watch the combat of this game. You'll find that a last gen game has combat that looks and plays better than this. And that shouldn't be. We should be seeing improvements besides the graphics. Then, come back and let me know what you think or PM me.
When he jumped off the staff I was sold
My PS5 is ready for this game! Bring it on!
This game is on some next level type stuff and I'm all about it. I hope it comes with an English dub option though.
The more important question here, can the PS5 and XsX handle this game when it comes out. I dont want a "downgraded" version. Because the snow fight, the dragon fight, got me drooling.
Wow! Now that’s some next gen sh**
Reminds me of Sekiro .
