While there are still PlayStation Vita cards out there for purchase, getting a brand new card for the handheld can cost a pretty penny.

Yeah, I just bought 32GB for $56. It getting expensive especially the game. I am actually buying some games before PSVITA PSN close anytime because once it happens, price will skyrocket again.

DarkZane1130d ago

That's supposed to be a lot? When the Vita released, the 32GB memory card was $100.

Neonridr1130d ago

considering you can get 256GB microSD cards for less than that, yes it's a lot.

Fist4achin1130d ago

Yep. Those were dark times for Sony. The worst part was Sony wasn't able to see their faults in the overall failure of the Vita.

PitbullMonster1130d ago

I have jailbreak my psvita and now I have a 400GB micro SD card in it. With jailbreak the psvita is imo the best Handheld.

Vader821130d ago

Same, best thing I did with it

Ryushaa1130d ago

That what I was thinking. You can use generic SD card with a Jailbroken Vita. IMO every 'abandoned' or end-of-life console that can be jailbroken should be jailbroken to give its owner the most of it

TeamIcoFan1130d ago

This is one of the big things that killed the Vita as a competitor to Nintendo handhelds.
The 3DS you could just thrown in almost any old SD card and you'd be good to go, since a lot of people probably had a spare one lying around somewhere.
Vita though, Sony was all like "Fuck you, pay us a premium for a useless proprietary memory card!".

ocelot071130d ago

It was not that. Sony was most likely concerned about piracy. Like the PSP suffered massively with piracy but it's also probably why the psp sold so well.

Look at the 3DS and the DS. Near enough day one you could download and play pirated games by simply using r4 cards and then not long after via the SD cards.

TeamIcoFan1130d ago

Yeah, Okay chief.
Don't act like for a second Sony wasn't seeing dollar signs while making that dumbass proprietary memory card.

Santouryuu1130d ago

If piracy was their main concern they would have kept the price low. Maybe even lower than a standard SD, then people wouldn't have mind buying it.

jukins1130d ago

Proprietary memory and low cost? Ehat world you live in lol.

darthv721130d ago

The crazy part was Sony already had a memory card that would have worked for the vita. it was their own M2 card. It was used in their media players, phones, even the PSP go could use it. But instead, they changed the shape (pretty much just flipped the case design) and resold it as something only usable in the vita.

JEECE1130d ago

Regardless of the reason they did this, it certainly was one of the things that hurt the device badly. People forget, but when Sony announced Vita's price at $249 after all the Sony naysayers (who were a dime a dozen in the PS3 era) had predicted it would be much higher, there was a lot of positive buzz about Vita. Then when they announced the memory card situation (which functionally jacked up the prices), that deflated much of the hype. Vita launch was also around the time Nintendo turned things around with 3DS, which had been pretty mediocre at first, and that hurt as well.

There was a bundle in one of the first holiday seasons Vita was out where they sold the system, a 4gb card, and assassin's Creed liberation for $200ish, and they couldn't keep that bundle in stock anywhere. It just makes you wonder what would have happened if Vita had launched with 16gb of flash memory built in.

I owned a 64gb card and it was good but a few weeks back I decided that it's been ignored by sony long enough I modded it and put a 128gb sd2vita card and tried out some homebrew I'm.smazed PSP games now look incredible upressed and running at a decent frame rate especially VCS plus emulation and all sorts of crazy things I thought wouldn't be possible. And to be clear I don't pirate anything most homebrew requires you own the game before you can install it like GTA SA on vita requires you to own the android game and extract your license to the system

PS Vita Fans Want Soul Sacrifice to Return on PS5, PS4 Next

There was a period when the PS Vita was new where Sony was desperate to secure a Monster Hunter-style hit on the system. You may recall that Capcom’s series had been extremely kind to the PSP, effectively securing it a second wind in its native Japan. But it’s widely rumoured that Nintendo swooped in and bought Nintendo 3DS exclusivity for future entries, leaving its rival scrambling for a replacement.

The company published several high-profile projects in the genre, including Freedom Wars, which will be remastered early next year. But that’s left some fans pondering whether Soul Sacrifice could also make a comeback, the first of its Monster Hunter-inspired projects.

Crossing my fingers for Marvelous AQL to one day buy Soul Sacrifice from Sony as well.

Goodguy016d ago (Edited 6d ago )

Well well well...so this game came back. Great game. Has it's flaws but it was a fun playthrough. Still hoping to this day it gets a sequel. Definitely picking it up.

monkey6025d ago

I really enjoyed this game for a while but it ran out of steam half way through. It was a great concept though

MrGameAndWatch5d ago

Oh my... I enjoyed this game so much on my vita.. Nice story, incredible gameplay, so fun. Totally unexpected, made my day!

neomahi5d ago

So then, why don't you play it the way it was originally meant to be played? There's this big push to bring back the Vita, this ain't bringing back the Vita, this is the opposite of that

MrGameAndWatch4d ago

Maybe because.. servers are offline and im done playing only with a basic AI?
