Along with Quake, super surprised it's coming to PS5

Maybe new things will be on Xbox / PC first in the future and then a long time down the line release on PS5

However, Bethesda have got to stop doing Skyrim and do a remake of Morrowind / Oblivion

RaidenBlack978d ago

I'm guessing this has been in the works for a while and they are just meeting contractual requirements.

And Skywind and Skyblivion is already happening for sometime.

-Foxtrot978d ago (Edited 978d ago )

I don't think this is something that would have been in the works for long...it's Skyrim

Deathloop is something that would be meeting contract requirements but this and Quake? I don't know, seems unlikely to me. They could have just pulled out and I don't think it's something Sony would have missed.

"Skywind and Skyblivion is already happening for sometime"

Rather have something official, released on consoles.

Lightning Mr Bubbles978d ago (Edited 978d ago )

As far as I've heard, it's never been confirmed that Elder Scrolls 6 would "not" be coming to PS5. But maybe it has... I just haven't heard it. Whenever I've seen them get asked they never give a straight answer or they hint that some games might still come to Playstation consoles because of tradition.

Lightning Mr Bubbles978d ago

Just to follow up my previous comment. If they have confirmed that Elder Scrolls 6 would not be coming to PS5. Don't take it the wrong way. I just never heard it. Maybe someone can tell me where I can read about it. Thanks.

yeahokwhatever978d ago

I love the fact that Bethesda is making ES6 not for PS5, because Sony is good at grudges, and they'll make something way better. :-)

DJStotty978d ago

ES6 will be coming to PS5, the same time as PC and Xbox Series.

Smok91978d ago

Foxtrot rumor has it they had to improve a number of games graphically as part of the sell to Microsoft. If you see what’s going on lately that could make sense.

fitofficial978d ago

Yeah at this point a full Oblivion remake would probably come out before Skyblivion

SegaSaturn669978d ago

Really? I haven't been following it very closely but last I heard development was nearing completion.

porkChop978d ago

This is going to PS5 because it's a remaster/legacy title. They already said stuff like this would be multiplatform.

It's the new stuff that will be exclusive to Microsoft platforms.

DJStotty978d ago

Starfield? that is it? what else?

porkChop977d ago

Huh? No, not just Starfield. Every new game, not just new IP. A remaster is not a new game. I don't understand why this has to be repeated so constantly.

The next Doom, Wolfenstein, Prey, Dishonored, TES, Fallout, Quake, etc. Those will be exclusive to Microsoft platforms.

Profchaos978d ago

I'm guessing that they are not exactly going to move consoles by re releasing a new edition of Skyrim but they will make some.decebt sales from it so a re release makes sense.

But it could be a strategy to get ps5 players playing Skyrim again and hungry for a new elder scrolls so they buy a xsx or gaming PC to play 6

z2g978d ago (Edited 978d ago )

these were pre-buyout agreements of projects that were already underway. I don't think there's gonna be a ton of PS stuff from Bethesda after Starfield releases... save for a few things like this, fallout etc. MS spent a lot of money to have them.

SullysCigar977d ago

They need a return on that investment, which won't come easy - and certainly not by removing the platform that makes up the majority of the console market from the equation.

strifeblade978d ago

Your just being hopeful. It doesn't cost much to put these games on current been so Microsoft stands to gain more by putting it on ps5.... A really old game. Moving forward be games are exclusive.

neutralgamer1992978d ago (Edited 978d ago )

Fox

It's ms man we never know what they will do. I fully expect them to release big games on playstation because it doesn't really hurt xbox. On Xbox you get the game on GP day one while on playstation it's $70 and will sell really well. So their service will do great and they will earn so much more with sales that they can reinvest into the studios

End of the day it's a business and these executives aren't thinking like gamers. Ms would love to make money from GP and more from sales on other platforms. But maybe I am wrong and all the games will remain exclusive. If I am not wrong even Phil said it's game by game basis

Or maybe release on XSX and keep it exclusive for a year than release on playstation that way they will make people either buy Xbox or sign up for GP on PC

We will know more when starfield releases

glennhkboy978d ago

Why do Sony player base still think any Bethesda game will be on PS5 again? Isn't this the whole idea that exclusive means only one system get this & not the other system? "So their service will do great and they will earn so much more with sales that they can reinvest into the studios" MLB the Show also shown that Sony made more sales when their game is on multi-platforms. In the same logic, won't Sony make more money if they put Spider Man, Horizon Forbidden West, GoT on to multi-platform?

DJStotty978d ago

People need to stop speculating that "most games will be xbox/pc only" when it is purely not the case.

The only exception so far, out of the entire catalogue of games, is Starfield.

gamer7804978d ago (Edited 978d ago )

no, this is not correct. any old games prior to 2022 (prior to the acquisition or honoring existing contracts ie deathloop etc (possibly mmo's) could be released on sony platforms, anything after that (ie new games) will be xbox/pc/xcloud only (wherever gamepass exists). I don't know why there is still confusion on this.

CaptainHenry916977d ago (Edited 977d ago )

Phil Spencer wants gamepass on every platform including playstation. I won't be surprised if Elders Scrolls 6 and somecotyer AAA games make it to PS5 down the line especially knowing Phil Spencer 😂 regardless I'll be playing all the Bethesda game's on PC

rakentaja978d ago (Edited 978d ago )

The PS5 version makes perfect sense because the game has been available there for a long time. The update is free only for SE owners, so many will still have to buy Skyrim again (which is already free in the Game Pass).
(If you say Hellblade didn't get the update because the sequel isn't coming to PS5 and if you ask why Skyrim got the update because Skyrim was already released for PS4).

RaveTears978d ago (Edited 978d ago )

Skyrim Anniversary Edition is pretty much like the Special Edition but with new features like fishing, alongside over 500 pieces of Creation Club content.

rakentaja978d ago

I don't know, man. It says: "Skyrim Special Edition will get a free upgrade to the corresponding Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S or PS5 current-gen versions of the games".
If it's 4K / 60, it already exceeds the capabilities of the PS4 Pro, but could easily run on PS5 (taking advantage of current gen systems). Most likely it's an remaster (res/fps boost) with additional content.

yeahokwhatever978d ago

skyim 4k 60 is not beyond PS4 pro. However, its beyond bethesda's limits as a company.

AzubuFrost978d ago

I think it's safe to say everybody and their grandmother has a copy of TESV: Skyrim. I must've bought like three copies so far.

Storm23978d ago

Never owned it and I have never even played it...

AzubuFrost978d ago

No you're lying. YOU'RE ALL LYING!!!

gold_drake978d ago (Edited 978d ago )

i dont.
never have and probably never will

TheCaptainKuchiki977d ago (Edited 977d ago )

Never played it cause the combat system is boring

Cyb3r978d ago

Imo they should support 8k resolution Im pretty sure PS5 and XSX could handle it

Atticus_finch978d ago

That would actually be hilarious.

yeahokwhatever978d ago

an apple watch could handle it. its 10 freaking years old.

Darkborn978d ago

And the graphics weren't that extraordinary at the time of release. The game aged pretty bad.

philm87977d ago

There's not going to be a PS5 or XSX version, it's just backwards compatibility.

Pedrof977d ago

Yes there will. Devs even mentioned dualsense support on the PS blog post.

sourOG978d ago

Easy money. I don’t know who is still buying Skyrim but someone is. How does gta5 stay in the top charts for 10 years? Who knows.

I'm Replaying Skyrim (again), and So Should You

Replaying Skyrim after 13 years is a reminder of the progress made in western RPGs over the last decade, but also what's been lost.

anast18d ago

I tried, but it's a poorly made game that insults its customers.

lucian22918d ago

nah, only mods make it decent, and even then it's bad, and this is after i modded for at least 3 years

Nittdarko18d ago

Funnily enough, I'm about to play it for the first time in VR with 1000 mods to make the game playable, as is the Bethesda way

The 7 Best Western RPGs: Immersive Adventures

RPGs are often huge, sprawling endeavours. With limited playtime, we have to choose wisely, so here's the best western RPGs available today.

SimpleSlave18d ago

"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

DustMan18d ago

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave18d ago (Edited 18d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
