Fortnite Bear Hug Emote Disabled Due to NSFW Glitch

Epic Games has disabled the Fortnite Bear Hug emote on PC and consoles after players discovered a way to use it for a very different (and NSFW) kind of hug.

i didn’t see anyone get offended, but Epic tried to preemptively remove it before the tabloids noticed and made a big deal out of a nothing burger, like they always do. Won’t someone think of the children, etc.

Basically, getting offended draws attention, for better or worse, and anything that draws attention can be monetized. The internet and the culture around it has created a lot of perverse incentives for people to make money, which is unfortunate. If I were an alien coming to earth and experienced the internet without interacting with the real lives of the people, I would think I'd arrived at a planet full of lunatics.

Unlike your post, developers pay attention to potentially offensive things now.

There are a lot of people out there that were forced by a prominent figure in their lives to do sex acts. When they see that stuff they get a unwanted chance to relive those memories. You may have been brought up in a safe environment but many people haven't been.

While you probably think this is being overly sensitive the reality is that offensive content is offensive content. It gave me a chuckle watching the video in the story, but I can also understand why there are people that wouldn't get a chuckle from it, and therefore deserves to be changed or removed forever.

Would you have written an article about it if they didn’t remove it? I wouldn’t have read about it. It seems like they were messing with the crouch and emotes. I have never played fortnite so I don’t know it works but it seems forced lol. Gamers man lol, they find a way.. Some kids would have had a giggle for a week or two until it was patched, big deal. That’s G-rated compared to what kids are exposed to on the internet.
