Motive Studios says they are planning to evolve the dismemberment mechanics in the Dead Space remake, and improve accessibility to a broader set of people.
I don't like hearing the term "accessibility" when talking the survival horror genre. He was also pretty vague when he mentioned just what thet meant. Time will tell though.
Maybe colorblind options? Those who can't use all their fingers perhaps? That's what I got from it.
I don't get why its concerning hearing the term accessibility. It shouldn't effect your experience with the game if you don't use the accessibility features. 🤷🏻♂️
Yea I don't understand that mentality. It doesn't mean 'baby mode'. It's for helping people that have difficulty playing for various reasons. Plus, the original already had an Easy difficulty available. So it also has nothing to do with them watering down the experience either.
Unless they opt for making the game easier overall and not necessarily adding features. Removing puzzles, making encounters easier...etc i think that is the concern. I think that's what he meant.
Read the article and tell me what he even means.
@The doomed guy "Removing puzzles, making encounters easier...etc i think that is the concern." When has a game ever done such a thing and called it improving accessibility? I have never heard of any game adding accessibility that interferes with the potential gameplay/mechanics. If they have it effect other users not needing accessibility, then they have royally f***ed up!
There are key words here for those who are worried and maybe didn’t read the article. “Options”, “different ways”, “if you need it”. I don’t know why some gamers are discriminating against gamers who need accessibility options. All gamers should be able to enjoy games.
@stoneyyoshi I'm not sure you'd even hear about it. It would just be a matter of making the game easier. For instance. The souls games have actually gotten more accessible aka easier through the increase in mobility...the enemies haven't really gotten faster....in fact at times they seem slower than those of demons souls. But that's probably not a good example. I'm sure certain entries of games got easier to accommodate a bigger audience....i can't be too sure since I always try to play the hardest difficulty anyways. I guess perhaps tlou2 is a good example of it. The game is so easy to complete....in normal mode there is virtually no challenging section.
Don't worry, accessibility options are disabled by default. You need to go into the settings to enable them.
It’s a good thing in either context. In time the use of thumbs to play video games will be obsolete (besides retro circles). The latency would make games accessible to people without arms. In the meantime making a game functional for someone with 3 fingers isn’t a bad thing. Anyone can easily beat RE village on easy. Then you add in infinite ammo and the easy street goodies. I love this kind of classic capcom shit lol. What’s the difference?
TheRealTedCruz More developers will give more options moving forward. And that's a good thing
It's a single player game, any options that can help people enjoy the game in their own way is a good thing and does not in any way impact your own enjoyment of the game.
I want to see a 100 different death styles. Dead Space had some memorable ways to die.
True. Dead Space, Resident Evil and The Last of Us are games where I go out of my way to get killed just to see the various deaths. Sounds absolutely morbid saying it out loud. =)
:) good thing you wrote it.
Is anyone expecting anything good from EA? Seriously...
They are tweaking an already great game lol. I get your point but this is different. It’s not a “reimagining” type of remake so expectations should be solid unless you didn’t like dead space to begin with.
Better to go in with low expectations and be impressed versus the latter when it comes to EA
Can’t argue with that.
Star Wars Fallen Jedi and Squadrons were both very good with no paid microtransactions....
As long as "accessibility" doesn't mean "power fantasy."
I read somewhere else that they're even going to rework and include deleted areas and levels from the original game. How cool is that?
An actual “Directors cut” lol. They have all of the stuff that was cut because of limitations. One shot camera and no loads like gow. It sounds dope, they are tweaking the right areas while keeping what made it great. That’s what it sounds like anyway. Would have been cooler if visceral was doing it. But he is doing a spiritual successor with calisto and that’s good enough for me.
I guess that they will use mechanics from Dead Space 2-3 that you can use Kinesis pull the limb from dead necromorphs and various objects as weapon.
Imagine this game in VR....
Good luck recapturing animations, they were perfect
