The company feels confident that the device is capable of handling the entire catalog offered by Steam.
Except Half Life 3...
...buh dum tsss
No would ever think Valve would make: Portal, Portal 2, a controller, compact PCs, VR headsets, Half-Life: Alyx, and a handheld gaming PC before Half-Life 3.
@Sciurus_vulgaris...don't forget Steam itself lol
Half-Life 3, Portal 3, Left 4 Dead 3. Team Fortress 3,. Gabe is allergic to 3 or can't be bothered since that Steam money
Thank god for Back 4 Blood this year 🙌🏻
Is better than AYO machine, cyberpunk too.
To be fair, nothing can run Cyberpunk because it's a buggy mess.
Sure it can "run" it. It'll just look like a Minecraft version
The PC version is pretty well optimized, especially these days. The game was absolute ass but I put a good 30+ hours into it at launch on PC and super rarely had any crashes or even glitches. The game has soooo much wrong with it on gameplay alone that it still deserves the negative attention so I'll give you an agree lol
I mean, running a game at 720p is not that hard.
They are not talking about performance. This is about Proton. They are saying that they have 100% compatibility of Steam games on Linux/SteamOS.
Plenty hard for all the intel integrated gpu's.
And only Available in US and EU. "Valve: We care about other smaller countries."
I'm pretty sure they would if they could, it's just a matter of logistics. They don't have enough units to spread out and they're not exactly a hardware company.
Quake 2 rtx?
Some games, yesss
Well firstly you can't run any Oculus games because this doesn't meet the minimum requirements for the Oculus headset.
Come on now.
Need to know if this baby can run Yuzu! Switch emulation is a must have, the final piece to transform this in "no brainer" handheld.
In comparision with others pc, yes too.
They said there’s no game it can’t RUN. Nobody said anything about it being playable. It’s at 11 fps with all settings on low, but by god it’s running!
One of the developers from Valve stated the below. "The "30 FPS target" refers to the floor of what we consider playable in our performance testing; games we've tested and shown have consistently met and exceeded that bar so far. There will also be an optional built-in FPS limiter to fine-tune perf vs. battery life." If it doesnt hit the 30 FPS requirement they dont consider it as playable. And so far every game was able to meet or exceed 30 FPS.
Bet it can't run Crysis.
Switch can run Crysis and it looks half decent on there as well. I’ve played through most of the game on its 1280x720 screen without issue. I’m sure SteamDeck can run it much better.
I'm referencing to the old "but can it run crysis?" meme from a while back, in case there was any confuction haha.
I got ya and enjoyed the comment!
The Last of Us.
Actually the answer is yes. It will run the Last of Us via RPCS3
RDR2 at 720p is going to be fun.
Having any form of rdr2 as portable is incredible so if it's 720 on low I'll take it
I can play RDR2 @ 720 low and get above 30 FPS on a less powerful machine than the Steam Deck. The Steam Deck will run RDR2 above 30 FPS no problem.
I feel like this needs a meme with Anakin Skywalker representing 720p resolution with the phrase, "You underestimate my power!"
As long as all graphics options aren't selected and maxed.
Anything is possible with sliders. People will misinterpret this as "play at max settings".
Challenge excepted. Will it play 1994's, Way of the Warrior?
This is tempting. Very tempting.
That's good, but can it run them WELL? I have one reserved and am really looking forward to it. I'm not expecting to play the latest games on it, that's what my PS5 is for. But I do have a decent sized Steam library, and plenty of those games I haven't even started, so looking to dive in with the Deck
Final Fantasy XI ???
Yes but you could go buy groceries in-between attacks so I don't know if it is needed.
Jensen Huang : I told you gimping was not an option on dat machine Gabe : scalpers true identity confirmed, exposed!!! Raja : our card is a true 4k gaming gpu Gabe : Jensen Huang : Lisa Su :
Are launchers going to work?
I thought Destiny 2 didn’t work?
What about future PC games that will be pretty demanding? You can only lower settings so far to make a game playable. Unless devs will target this handheld and optimize their games for it, then maybe yes it will be fine.
After reading that the Deck is shooting for 30 fps, I lost interest. I was going to pick one up after I find a PS5.
Valve already tweeted about this. People misunderstood what they meant. Below is what one of Valve's developers tweeted. There are plenty of games that run above 30 FPS. 30 FPS is just thier limit of what they consider playabe. The "30 FPS target" refers to the floor of what we consider playable in our performance testing; games we've tested and shown have consistently met and exceeded that bar so far. There will also be an optional built-in FPS limiter to fine-tune perf vs. battery life.
FYI there are a bunch of games on PS5 that run @ 30 FPS on graphics mode. So why havent you lost interest in PS5?
Because fanboys will always be fanboys
I have Series X, and play all games that have 60fps in that mode. That is a ton of em. Also it is funny. I was called a fanboy because I want a PS5. When I have had Series X since January. A PS4, Switch and gaming PC for years. Just haven't found a PS5 at MSRP.
A perfume salesman says his perfume smells the best. Woah
But can it run Crysis?
Crytek we need you.
Cool but I don't want to get back to 30fps
