Mario Golf: Super Rush Review | VGChartz

VGChartz's Paul Broussard: "At some level I feel like I should be more critical of Mario Golf: Super Rush. A $60 game that I was bored of playing inside of six hours doesn't inspire confidence, especially when playing with friends doesn't seem to boost excitement for long. But I can’t even motivate myself to get upset at the game; it’s just boring. There are a few interesting ideas with some potential but they're never get put to full use, and there's nowhere near enough content to justify the asking price."

Swing and a miss.
Never really played the Mario sports games, though I did enjoy it on N64, and the original "Golf" on the Gameboy when I was a kid.

they knocked it out the park with Toadstool Tour on the Gamecube. though it was basically an improved Mario Golf 64 if I recall.

I think the problem is they're trying to change what was already excellent. Not to mention sell a half cocked game for $60. While I'm not opposed to change & adjustments I'd be willing to bet most fans would prefer something akin to Mario Golf 64 & Toadstool Tour. A robust experience in the world of Mario and it's characters/worlds. To further complicate things it's not like these games are released all that often either. While there's been a couple handheld releases their last Mario Golf title on console was Toadstool Tour for Gamecube.

I picked this up on an impulse last week because it was only $50. A few nights later I was about to open it when I just had a terrible feeling about the game. Normally I know what I'll like and don't rely much on reviews but I decided to watch and read some reviews. Needless to say I'm returning it next time I run to the store. Been a long time since I misfired on a game so that was close. Personally I just don't see the value in it & can't see myself digging into it like 64 or Toadstool Tour. Maybe over time if DLC is free it will be a solid game but right now, hard pass. Hopefully they'll release a proper Mario Golf experience when the Switch 2 drops.

I dunno why they thought running after the ball would be a great game mode. It's just holding forward until you make it to the ball, it adds nothing.

If you do it enough it fixes Joycon drift.

Nintendo's subtle way of admitting there's an issue. :P

I feel like if you do it enough the drift can take over for you.

The real letdown is for those of us who enjoyed Toadstool Tour and waited for almost two decades for a follow-up. Disappointment isn't the word.
