Doom Eternal's next-gen patch tested on PS5 and Xbox Series consoles

Digital Foundry : Released at the tail-end of last week, Doom Eternal's upgrade for PC and next generation consoles is an important release - it's our first chance to see how the tech masterminds at id Software are choosing to approach the new features of the latest hardware. Ray tracing, in the form of accurate, real-time reflections, is key to the upgrade, but in putting the new consoles through their paces, a trio of modes are available - and we've tested all of them on PS5, Xbox Series X and Series S.

Here people. Here 'Atticus' is providing a great example of the stupidity of how people can't interpret simple things, or twist things just so they can make a comment. He's clearly talking about the upgrade patch being free, not the entire game.

iD tech 7 really is a great engine. I watched the DF analysis and it's amazing how regardless of which system you play it on you're getting extremely stable framerates and a cracking looking game to boot. It's very well optimised. Will be interesting to see where they take it from here once they're done with last gen and focus only on current gen
