Dying Light 2 DualSense Features Detailed, 3D Audio to Heighten the Horror

Techland reveals some new details about Dying Light 2, including DualSense features, along with teasing 3D audio on the PS5.

SullysCigar1402d ago

This sounds great. Really looking forward to the 3D audio tech in full swing, but the DualSense is, as they say in the article, the real "game changing feature" and I bet using the bow is going to be a treat!

excaliburps1401d ago

I can alreayd tell the triggers will be amazing using a bow. :D I hope it's not too much though.

StoneyYoshi1401d ago

You can always change the strength of the triggers and haptics in the system settings if you ever need to. they are set to strong by default.

Thundercat771402d ago

Dualsense implementation alone makes the PS5 version of a multiplatform game a better choice.

I can't imagine playing playing Returnal onother platform without Dualsense and 3D audio.

Nitrowolf21401d ago

Returnal great, Ratchet makes awesome use of it to. Hoping 3rd party devs utilize it just as well

Darkborn1401d ago

It seems like a lot of them have been. Even control used it to a minimal degree on their new Gen remaster. I heard somewhere where devs can literally press a button to implement a small version like the triggers having some resistance and stuff like rain drops and steps without doing anything else and if they want to do more, there's a dev kit playstation gives them with instructions and help on it.

What is the difference between 3D Audio and Dolby Atmos?! Its all marketing. Also, the haptics in the dual sense are really not much different than the rumble feature in the Series X controller. Xbox has had force feedback in triggers in their controllers since Xbox One. Literally the only difference in the Dual Sense is it feels like there are more vibrating motors in the Dual Sense. This is a double edged knife as that also kills the battery MUCH faster. Yall are being tricked by Sony's marketing to think these are some new features but they're pretty much the same thing just called something different! Im sure they could easily implement the slightly more advanced haptics into the Xbox controller, and maybe they will at some point. But dont fall for the marketing, both features are virtually the same!

Lmao OK, have you actually held a ps5 controller and played a game like the free one called astros playroom that comes pre-installed? If you had, you'd know it's a lot lot more than just vibrations. There's like 20 features on top of extra and better vibration in these controllers that the Xbox series controllers does not have.

StoneyYoshi1401d ago

"Also, the haptics in the dual sense are really not much different than the rumble feature in the Series X controller. Xbox has had force feedback in triggers in their controllers since Xbox One."

Says the guy who hasn't touched a PS5 or a PS5 game properly implementing the controller features. Theres no marketing to fall for when its actually different but you wont know until you try bud... The difference is night and day.

"This is a double edged knife as that also kills the battery MUCH faster."

Once again, proof that you haven't experienced it yourself. Even with the DualSense features set on their default settings (strong) the controller definitely lasts longer than the DS4 controller by multiple hours. My controller has lasted me the entire day when I have the chance to even play my console for that long. I dock my controller anytime I turn off my system so this is irrelevant for people who don't leave their controllers just laying around.

brewin1401d ago

Psn cee4our. So you're saying that new Ratchet and Clank doesn't use it correctly?

I also experienced the haptic feedback on the triggers of the Xbox One controller. It's not that different if you played both you would know that. Check my PSN you can't fake that

StoneyYoshi1401d ago (Edited 1401d ago )

Fair enough, So you have a PS5. I still cant fathom how you think they feel the same with the triggers or haptics. There is a HUGE difference IMO and yes I've tried and own a XBO controller. You sure there isn't anything wrong with your hands? If you ever have a chance to give Returnal a try, their implementation is on a different level.

Also if your controller really only lasts 3 hours or so then theres gotta be something wrong with it. Maybe try getting it replaced and see if its any different? Ive never had my controller last only that long. I generally am at 1 bar remaining after like 7 hours of play time and the last time I got a low battery warning (which is when it shows no bars), it lasted another 2 hours before I remembered that it was low so I swapped my controller not knowing how much longer it could have lasted.

P.S. How is steam world dig BTW? Never played one of those games before.

thejigisup1401d ago

They aren't virtually the same and you're literally posting links that explain that. Rumble in a trigger does not provide similar feedback to the dual sense triggers which not only create tension and resistance which can be modified but also provides an advanced haptic feedback that can even reproduce audio through vibration. Dolby atmos can use up to 128 audio tracks to be played simultaneously through speakers while the tempest engine can over 5000, even if it was halved its still significantly more. For 3d audio the tempest engine has dolby atmos beaten. Sony HRTF research and implementation will also allow for 3d audio without the need for expensive hardware to take advantage of it though having better audio will make for generally better quality. I think you are part of the group of people that either A just really cannot tell the difference which is fine, just makes you not someone that should be speaking on these things, or B hating just to hate because there's plenty of evidence to prove you wrong even including the links you've posted.

" Also, the haptics in the dual sense are really not much different than the rumble feature in the Series X controller".....your lack of understanding is mindblowing

The first game took my by surprise, so I’m sure the sequel will be great. I hope they expand the level of detail for gore (it bothers me when all zombies are cut along the same 10 lines at elbows, knees and such).

At the very least, the 3D audio sells me. The first game was bonkers at night, and improved audio will not go to waste.

I finally beat DL2 this past weekend. I’ll pick up the Beast for sure.

It got a lot of shit from fans more not being as scary at night on release. I was in that boat. But once I gave it a fair shot I really loved it. The movement was so much more expressive to me. I enjoyed the story too.... for the most part. Was my game of the year when it came out. With all the updates for darker nights and all that, it's even better. I feel almost exactly the same about stalker 2 right now. The erojank games are scratching my itch.

Both Resistance games will be "streaming only"

JEECE169d ago

So unfortunate. I'd subscribe to premium in a heartbeat if I could play Resistance: FoM for real on there. But game streaming is and always will be trash.

OtterX169d ago

I wish the Portal would do PS+ Streaming. I really want to play these handheld on it. :\

MrBaskerville169d ago

I wish they would release them properly. But have been playing Ratchet and Clank games om streaming and it works pretty well these days, where I live atleast, so will probably give them a shot regardless.

Knushwood Butt169d ago

Guess I'll be trying streaming for the first time then.

darthv72168d ago

Until they remaster PS3 games properly for play on the 4/5... I keep my 3 hooked up for just these situations.
