Agreed. Weapon durability, awful shrines, no enemy variety, etc. If this game was a new IP and didn’t have the Zelda name slapped on it, it would’ve been reviewed mediocre at best. But Nintendo gets a free pass.

sooo wanted a Switch upgrade, but like we have been saying, why? the Switch sales are still booming, Nintendo wont soot themselves in the foot. Once Switch sales slow by a good amount they will announce the Switch 2, I no longer believe in the Switch Pro mid-gen upgrade. I do think it will come out next year tho and cross gen with BOTW2 and Metroid Prime 4.

It will be the only way for them not to look horribly outdated by that time, even though I aware Nintendo is not about high graphics, but the Switch is 5 years old and will need a boost for sure.

Nah I still think the Switch is gonna be more similar to an iPad type situation - where new hardware is released every few years but it's always backwards compatible with previous apps.

At least I hope that's the case. The Switch is a bloody relic at this point but I have hundreds of games and do NOT want a Switch 2 that can't play them.

This looked like some sort of weird mod based on the first game. I loved BOTW but there was a lot to improve on. I truly hope the sequel isn't just a few tweaks with a new map but a leap in features and possibilities.

how about you stay calm and wait until more content and info is release later on? you are judging by things you barely know anything about. you dont know the lore in ths sequel and you clearly dont know about the combat and gameplay in this one. So just sit tight and wait until we get more clear information. That's the most reasonable option there is wouldn't you say?

Just sounds like the song from the first trailer. I would love to see some TP in this though. Hopefully they continue in this timeline for a couple more games and converge more of the other games into one connected universe

Horizon is a very pretty and solid game, but its environmental interactions and physics are extremely basic if we try to compare; it wasn't trying to do what BotW did.

I've been playing BOTW lately doing Shrines I missed and it's astounding today just how damn good that game is. Lightning storms and wearing metallic armor. Standing next to a snowball you rolled around to get bigger, waiting for the sun to get at the right angle so you can hold the snowball up for its shadow to cast onto a platform... only to realize the snowball melted because you have equipped a flameblade. Lizalfo's getting dusty or snowy when they sleep. Getting hit hard and rolling down a hill. Swinging your flameblade in a grassy field and watching the fire spread. The desert roasting you in the day but chilling you at night, needing to change your wardrobe to not take damage from the shift in extremities.

Aloy in Horizon ZD didn't even know she was wet when crossing a river. She's gonna swim and fly and climb a bit in the sequel, obviously, but its depth is on a very different branch than BotW's. They're really not comparable.

I play a game when there is reason to do what you are doing. Botw is designed to make up your own idiotic reasons to have fun because the creators couldn't be creative at all with their design.

Horizon's battle gameplay is one of the tightest you will encounter in an action-rpg outside of Soulsborne.

If you want to be told what to do and how to do it at every turn then BoTW definitely isn't the game for you. I for one was tired of the shackles that "open" world games imposed on me with their fake sense of freedom so I found BoTW to be an innovative and most welcomed experience to the point that I consider it to be the only title that is truly an open world game so I find it laughable when you say that Nintendo weren't creative. What to say of all the other open world games that follow the same tired formula over and over again?

I think what they mean is the sequel has a BotW-esque glider. But BotW has used ideas and took inspiration from other games too, so I don't know why people are trying to suggest it's a bad thing.

Looks great! The new Metroid looks okay, but another side Scroller? Microsoft definitely had the best presentation this year. I honestly thought Nintendo would bring it this year.

Is there someone out there that can tell me why this game is good? Nonexistent story, bad combat, excessive weapon degradation and an empty open world. I put 10 hrs into the game, and is literally one of the few games I’ve ever said I will not go back to.

Nostalgia doesn’t make this game a 10. The 2D Zeldas are much better.

I always hated Zelda, always too easy, hates lack of story, lack of combat skills etc.

This BOTW is my first Zelda game that I've beaten, it has so many issues and lacks so much content, it's extremely easy and has horrible dlc practices..

But for some reason I enjoyed the game. For me botw has a good foundation but I would like to see effort in the story, more than 13 enemies, and an overall expansion of everything.

I'm hopeful for part two but the trailer literally showed nothing so I'm not expecting much lol, Nintendo is a lazy cash grabbing company that have blind fans sadly.

I'll just borrow this from my brother when he's done with it unless they fix the games flaws
