Microsoft recently revealed Forza Horizon 5 for the Xbox One and Xbox Series in addition to PC. The game will support 60 FPS on the current-gen consoles.
Didn't we already know this?
No, the FAQ only said 4K30fps and a 60FPS performance mode. This is clarifying that the performance mode will be in 4K, so we are probably losing some visual fidelity elsewhere otherwise this would be the "standard" mode
Either that or its dynamic 4k like originaly thought? If it's end output is 4k, they can say 4k without saying native.
I could be wrong on this. I am legitimately trying to understand. Wasn't it 4K30fps with Raytracing? This is speculation, but could it be 4K60fps with no Raytracing and 4K30fps with Raytracing in a fidelity like mode? Similar to how Miles Morales and Ratchet have 3 choices of modes. Also agree that performance mode will likely come with with a loss in fidelity including probably no Raytracing.
@Popsicle they said ray tracing is just for the model viewer mode
Thanks for clarifying Nitrowolf!
We did. Fidelity mode and performance mode. The question was the fidelity mode with all the graphics on. We didnt know about the S
lol i knew this was coming.
Wonder if the S will have a fidelity mode as well? The S is capable of 4k but I'd imagine it would be 1440/30 and not 4k/30
The original announcement said 1080p 30 for series s with it also having a performance mode at 60, it's in the f&q too.
thank you for that.
No probs man
Why S even exist 😕
Cross gen holding everything back yet again.
Seriously. The existence of series S gimped this entire generation
Yes for xbox. It's literally a series S in boost mode. That is the X. Unless they build from the ground up and release exclusive games for the X, its all it will ever be. Ps5 is the true next gen console. It's already delivered some of the best games to date. E3 did nothing to prove otherwise.
What on the PS5 library so far do you include in the best games to date. That's a super high bar, none of my top games of all time are that modern.
I am just curious how big the game file will be. STALKER 2 is supposedly 150 gigs and if Forza is near 100 gigs then rip Series S storage.
This was known to be a problem the second the console was announced
I have a 12 tb external for this reason. Transfer onto the internal and play and move things around if I need to shuffle things to make room on the ssd.
This is why expandable storage and cold storage exist.
4k/60fps for performance mode????? Why ? Why not 1440p with higher graphical fidelity?
Because MS likes the buzzword of 4k
Quality- 4k 30fps on Series X Performance- 4k 60fps on Series X Quality- 1080p 30fps Series S Performance-1080p 60fps Series S Series X has 4k 60fps with raytracing in Vista mode. Series S should not exist. The cuts to get both modes to run at the same 1080p res must be DRAMATIC. I can’t believe some people don’t think having to factor in such a weak system at every stage of development isn’t holding things back. Once PlayStation moves past PS4pro big releases and turns it’s focus to only PS5, the chains come off. Look at the PS5 exclusives 6 months in already. They can literally focus on maxing out that single hardware spec. Series X, as much as I like mine, will always be handcuffed. Or Microsoft can do what they did back in the 360 days and start putting out “Only playable on series X” games and warnings. For those that don’t know, they had a HDDless 360. It was budget focused and started off advertised as a entry level way to play all your favorites…. Until it suddenly wasn’t 🤣
I'm genuinely curious how PS5 exclusives will look and play compared to Xbox exclusives/multiplats that are potentially held back by Series S. But we won't know until cross-gen development ends. Until then, the weakest platforms are still XBO/PS4.
Blab blab blab. Ton of assumptions no facts. We ready for some Forza and it's gonna look better than any game you laid eyes on even on Series S. Lol he said the chains come off enjoy the wait
The series s is for those who don’t own a 4K tv. And only care about 1080 p. The cpu is just as fast as series x. Only the gpu is less powerful (less vram) so it can’t handle high resolutions. It is a solid 1080p console. Most pc gamers are still at 1080p. It is a great introduction into the Microsoft ecosystem. It does not hold back titles at all.
You don't need 4K to notice that Series X games will look and perform better. You can see that at 1080p. The best argument for Series S is that it's a budget console. Also, it has 6GB less RAM which runs slower, GPU is 8 teraflops weaker, and the CPU is, in fact, a bit slower. I don't know if it will hold back development, but those specs make me wonder.
Native 4k is a waste of resources , dynamic resolution , temporal injection or whatever is better IMO to get more little details on screen and better FPS . It’s easier for racing games to get native but it’s still not necessary. Forza was by far the best game graphically MS had but racing games always look great .
There are a lot of good looking racing games. What Horizon does differently is look amazing while giving you a huge map to explore at the same time.
Well why don’t you go build a game. I’m certain the developers have a reason for doing what they’re doing and that goes across the board regardless of console manufacturers or developers. These people spend countless hours trying to create their digital vision and if this is the best they could come up with then I simply respect and enjoy the game or move allying. No need in playing armchair developer.
Wait, what? No Ray Tracing in game just take a picture mode? This can't be true for a flagship Xbox First Party game, no way. This has to be PlayStation haters spreading this rumor because PS5 doesn't have RDNA2 architecture.
The question isn’t IF but HOW many times you where dropped on your head as a baby.
Your comment screams, im hurt ps5 doesn't have rdna2
Wait, what!...... Ouch! OMG how does Sony get Ray Tracing without RDNA2 in the PS5 FP games? Sony has Ray Tracing in there games not just the Picture mode and you think immmm ...let see how did you put it... "hurt". Thats funny and as a Xbox Series S owner and a PS5 owner I can tell you that the Sony First Party games look soooo much better than the Xbox First Party games now that does hurts because I feel I've wasted my money. Now if its true that a flagship Xbox First Party can only get RayTracing in its Picture mode and they can't get it into its normal game play on " The Most Powerful Console in the World" I guess that console needs a little more power now don't it cause we know others can get Ray Tracing into there games.
This is a whole mess. @Healthy PS5 does have RDNA2 WITH custom changes and additions. It’s still fully RDNA 2. @Spinesaw You seem like you thought PS5 didn’t have RDNA2 and thought Series X was not outperforming it even with that advantage. The advantage that doesn’t exist. Which version of RDNA 2 is better is debatable because again, the PS5 has every RDNA 2 feature the Series X has. The difference is Sony had it custom tailored to where it could have more A, less C, keep B and D at default, but add E cause we don’t see it on there.
Ray tracing takes up huge amounts of resources. Look at doom eternal. It drops from 4K to 800p if you enable ray tracing. Not worth the trade off in most cases
Only gamers that dont understand nothing of gaming or business or are afraid of the PS5 would talk about RDNA 1 and RDNA 1.5.... just days ago Lisa Su was praising the PS5 because of Ratchet and how RDNA 2 tech was able to make a game with that quality. But its not just the fact it got RDNA 2 but how easy is to explore the power of the PS5, many studios told that. There wasnt any excuse with lack of tools from day one...
Really love it if they did a 1080p 120hz mode on SX
That is what we call a W
Headline seems a tad misleading, as this is in the performance modes.
