Switch is tickling the perineum of the PS3. PS5 passed the DC and will pass the Saturn. X|S is still climbing that ladder as well. Cue the Jefferson's theme song "Movin on up"

Great sales all round, nice and healthy, hopefully have my Switch Pro and PS5 for Christmas and XSeX when Fable and Perfect Dark release.

Didn't know Microsoft was getting into the adult entertainment industry

Switch is down compared to last week and this week last year. Switch is still up YoY, but it's hovering. If Nintendo announces some new Nintendo games for release this year (like the rumored DK, Metroid, and Super Mario Party 2) then I think Switch will remain ahead by a good margin and could cross that 30M threshold in one year. If not then I expect 2020 to catch up and it either be a wash or Switch down a few percent YoY.

PS5 and XSX sales got a boost! Awesome. Both consoles are keeping their lead from the last generation in the same timeframe.

If there really is a new iteration of the Switch coming this year then I have no doubt that it will surpass ps4 and head right towards the king ps2… Especially if the new Switch is called the Super Switch. That name would eat at peoples nostalgia and get more mature gamers into it and with more power to play today’s hot releases at near new gen graphics levels with DLSS in the new nvidia chipset integrated into the new dock then Nintendo can expect to get the big boy AAA games like FF Intergrade.
Meanwhile the Industry as a whole seems to be doing extremely well which bodes well for the big 3

That would be much to big a performance gap for A) a device that is also a handheld and B) a mid generation upgrade. They can't just stick chips inside of the dock because it needs to have fast and efficient access to the MOBO. Doing so would cost a lot of money for much less performance upgrade than would really be necessary. In addition, they wouldn't create an iterative console where a large majority of games couldn't be played on the previous iteration. They also need to ensure all current Switch games still run fluidly, which means they wouldn't deviate too much from the SoC they are already using.

People are getting WAY too hyped. This isn't a Switch 2, it would be a Switch Pro. A modest step up for those that want it. That's it.

Surely that would be a next gen switch so sales figures would start from scratch?

Even constrained ps5 is over 2.1 compared to series SX THAT'S TWO SERIES CONSOLES NOT ONE. in reality it's 3.1 compared to series x

This is expected. The PS brand is just too strong globally. PS5's gonna pull ahead even further in the coming months.
The better PS does/do the better for its fans, more quality games coming our way.
