everything is good ....except PC expansion imo.....PS must become more Nintendo and less Xbox....if you want to play PS exclusives buy the console ..

TGGJustin1058d ago

You do if you want to play them anytime soon. I personally wouldn't want to wait years for a PlayStation game to get ported to PC. If someone does that's fine but most players are going to want to play God of War, Horizon, etc as soon as they can and because of that they'll continue to buy PlayStation.

--Onilink--1058d ago

Well, considering how many consoles are still being sold now, many years after the release of many big 1st party games on PS4, I would say even a lot of console owners are happy with waiting several years before playing them

Elda1058d ago

Exactly. I doubt if Sony will release their first-party exclusives on console & PC at the same time. It seems they're releasing their exclusives that are 2 years old & older on PC. Sony wants its consoles to sell.

1058d ago
Master of Unlocking1057d ago (Edited 1057d ago )

If I was too stingy to buy a PlayStation, as a PC gamer I wouldn't have a problem waiting the time it took for HZD or Days Gone to release on PC after their initial inception on PS... like what, 3 or 4 years? Deal. Make it 10-15 years, or not at all however, then I would at some point give in and find the money to buy a Playstation to play its exclusives.

This is a bad strategy when you're a hardware maker. Sony should stick to their guns:"Only on PlayStation". You wanna play PlayStation exclusives you buy a PlayStation, period.

Imalwaysright1058d ago

Why? What exactly is your problem if I get to play a Sony's 1st party games on my PC?

sourOG1058d ago

They think it hurts Sony for some reason lol. Like they aren’t making money on it. 10 year old PlayStation games going to PC? NO! Absolutely not!

Fluttershy771058d ago (Edited 1058d ago )

Then the PS platform becomes completely obsolete... why would you buy a PS5, why not just gaming on a PC?... But I like gaming on a console, I like the fact that Sony puts a lot of effort in creating exclusive content: unique awesome games that make people want to have a PS4/PS5 and also forces the competition to up their game> Nintendo's Exclusives, Xbox adquiring studios (and even something like BC and the cheap GP; Xbox probably wouldn't be doing it if they were not so far behind in the Exclusives Game)...

Fluttershy771058d ago (Edited 1058d ago )

Also, I'll make an imperfect analogy (well all analogies are imperfect) PS and Xbox and Nintendo, they have their own styles, and they have a fandom base (followers) . And lets say you follow a football team like Barcelona FC, and you LOVE a player like Lionel Messi, he belongs to you- in a weird way - he plays in "your team" (at least a little part of him belongs to you) and you don't wanna see him playing for Real Madrid (the opposition); and the RM fans will say: "Oh but I could enjoy him too". No, sorry... you are welcome to come to my stadium and join us, up until then keep enjoying Ronaldo he's quite good too, not a God player, but you know quite good... Well there you go that's the reason

MadLad1058d ago

They think it's unfair you don't have to buy the same little box they did to play it, even when they're still supporting the same company.

They're kids that don't like sharing their toys.

Silly gameAr1058d ago

I don't know why anyone would care about that. That is a chance for Playstation games to get more popular, and if anything, it will help to get more people on ps platforms.

They said Days Gone was number 1 on steam for like a week, and that and the PS plus promo kicked up the sales of Days Gone. I think PS games on PC will be a good thing in the long run.

Imalwaysright1058d ago

Fluttershy77

If you think that Sony didn't do market research to see if bringing their games to the PC would/wouldn't be advantageous to them then you're seriously underestimating the company.

1058d ago
1058d ago
1057d ago
Master of Unlocking1057d ago

Simple. My problem is that there will be less PS consoles sold then, which means there will be less publishers interested in developing for it because of the smaller install base, which in turn means the portfolio of games I will have access to on my PS will be smaller. Capito?

Locutus_of_borg1057d ago

“there will be less publishers interested in developing for it because of the smaller install base…”

I would of assumed the install base would be bigger due to the millions of PC players buying the game ..

You don't seem to understand. The article clearly states that Playstation games are exclusive for their lunch and then maybe years later, they will release on PC. Was not that clear?

Ninver1058d ago

Damn the pc guys must have terrible stomach aches from eating all those years old lunch

1058d ago
MadLad1058d ago

@ninver

Having access to the best version, that will only get better with age as the original stagnates?

Yeah. We're hurting hard.

Blame Sony; it's their choice.

NeoGamer2321058d ago

All exclusives do is promote platform wars.

There is no value to a consumer who cannot play a specific game because it is only on a specific platform that they don't own.

Exclusives are designed to encourage a consumer to buy a specific platform. If there were no exclusives then the platform wars would disappear and gamers would be one community rather then PC/MAC/PS/XB/Switch, etc.

neutralgamer19921058d ago

Sonic

I think he gave a clear time time to be honest when he mentioned days gone. It took 2 years so expect that at the very least. Games make the most profit in their first 90-120 days because that's when it's selling for full price

2-3 years is good enough time because those who want to play will buy a console to play and the select few Willings to wait will pay full price on pc long after release. I still don't think we will see their biggest heavy hitters anytime soon

God of war won't happen (this is their biggest IP in my opinion at the moment)

Blood borne a game PC community has been begging for should happen and should also get a ps5 patch

Uncharted I think should happen because it's been a long time since last release

What we need go realize as a playstation community is that's extra money Sony will use to fund even more games

1058d ago
Gatsu1057d ago

It's okey if PS Exclusive games come to PC after some years.

Lol. Hulst just confirmed both God of War and GT7 as crossgen games at the top of Horizon Forbidden West´s PS4 version.

"Hermen: It very much is. You can’t build a community of over 110 million PS4 owners and then just walk away from it, right? I think that’d be bad news for fans of PS4, and frankly not very good business.

Where it makes sense to develop a title for both PS4 and PS5 — for Horizon Forbidden West, the next God of War, GT7 — we’ll continue looking at that. And if PS4 owners want to play that game, then they can. If they want to go on and play the PS5 version, that game will be there for them."

https://www.playstationlife...

So much for "We believe in generations" XD

https://www.gamesradar.com/...

Considering the time that will take between development circles, when we actually see true next gen games out of God of War, Horizon and GT´s franchises, the PS6 will probably be around.

dekke1058d ago

well every xbox game will be crossgen, so i dont get ur point :P

Orchard1058d ago

Xbox weren't the ones out saying "we believe in generations" nor were their fans the ones claiming last-gen games hold back current-gen games.

Obscure_Observer1058d ago (Edited 1058d ago )

"well every xbox game will be crossgen, so i dont get ur point :P"

Avowed, Starfield, Forza Motorsport, Hellblade 2, Fable, Perfect Dark, The Elder Scrolls VI, Forza Horizon 5, Project Mara, State of Decay 3

Just a few upcoming Xbox games out of the top of my mind that will not be crossgen. ;)

About "my point" MS has been transparent on which game will and will not be crossgen.

Lots of PS fans bragging about true next gen games for PS5 while mocking Xbox Series X/S games for been crossgen. Now they know that Ryan is all about lies and deceive.

Yeah, you reap what you sow. ;)

LOGICWINS1058d ago

The point is that Matt Booty was upfront with the Xbox community (before the console released) and told us that Series X exclusives wouldn't be available for the first two years of the console's lifespan.

Sony waited to tell us that Miles Morales, GT7, HZ2, and Ragnarok were cross-gen until they were pressured by the gaming media to spill the beans.

One company was transparent (and criticized for doing so), while the other wasn't transparent.

waverider1058d ago

I thinks that xbox games are next gen.... its even worse they have to make to so many diferent platforms....

Mr_Writer851057d ago

@Orchad

Neither did Hulst, he is head of the studios, you think that the cross gen thing has come from Ryan? Or the man in charge of running the studios?

Most likely the man running the studios.

Drew3451057d ago

@LOGICWINS

That is NOT what he said. He said he will support the Xbox One platform for two with Series games because it takes around that long before developers get used to the next-gen hardware.

“We have always said that we believe in generations. We believe that when you go to all the trouble of creating a next-gen console, that it should include features and benefits that the previous generation does not include. And that, in our view, people should make games that can make the most of those features."

FlavorLav011058d ago (Edited 1058d ago )

Demon Souls, Returnal, and new Ratchet and Clank(bound to be stellar) all exclusive to PS5, say hello! With many more on the way, why was it ever expected they would leave cold-turkey over 100million PS4 user base behind, and in the middle of a pandemic and supply shortage of chips to produce said new console no less.

Knushwood Butt1058d ago

'it should include features and benefits that the previous generation does not include'

So the PS5 versions should include Dualsense support, 3D audio, SSD benefits, and other QoL benefits, which generally speaking is OK.

Not gonna lie though, if GT7 on PS5 doesn't include actual in game improvements over the PS4 version, like maybe full VR support for example, I'm going to be pissed.

tagzskie1058d ago

@obscure its ok if you think youre xbox is a next gen console just dont give examples. The game you list are not even release and also going to release on pc. And im willing to bet those games can be played in mid tier pc's.

Robodrake1058d ago

You know you dont look very smart laughing at this?

waverider1058d ago

its the only thing we can do. Still waiting for games.

Pricey1058d ago

When did they say all their games would be PS5 only. As far as I can tell they've still released more next gen only games than Xbox.

Orchard1058d ago (Edited 1058d ago )

https://twitter.com/SpawnWa...

Sony did for the above games, a couple of months ago in fact. Are you telling us the PS4 version of GT7 wasn't in development a couple of months ago? Plenty of other examples out there too via trailers & Jim Ryan's interviews.

waverider1058d ago (Edited 1058d ago )

Dude, really. After the HZD2 reveal? keep saying that.... i really dont understand why you are laughing.... Again, you must be talking about another console. Sony Studios are amazing and top of videogaming. Now imagine studios that are force to make to old gen, cross gen, next gen and PC. and arent that good...

TheKingKratos1058d ago (Edited 1058d ago )

Glad I didn't buy ps5 and said to wait a year or two ... the Ps4 Pro is more than enough
I will be playing all of those in 4k with amazing graphics

Glad I waited

But I don't get what you are laughing at ??
Sony Is making everyone happy with this ... so I don't care if they said something and change it as long as everyone is happy ?

darthv721058d ago (Edited 1058d ago )

I'd been saying since their reveal that GoW2 and GT7 were likely going to be coming to PS4 and got bombarded with downvotes.

I guess "I told you so" is warranted here for all the haters.

1058d ago
CaptainHenry9161058d ago (Edited 1058d ago )

@obscure

"About "my point" MS has been transparent on which game will and will not be crossgen."

I was waiting to see what you were going to say about that. So comical. Did you make that up?😂😂

I do agree with you on Jim Ryan though. I still think they should replace him

darthv721058d ago

I remember all the crap MS was getting for being honest about doing crossgen games for 1-2 years. And sony was quiet, but now that they too admit they are doing the same... so what. I welcome them supporting crossgen for as long as they can. It makes PS4 owners happy they get new games and it makes PS5 owners happy that they will get the best versions of those games. How could anyone really be upset at this?

As a 5 owner, it doesn't bother me in the slightest.

CaptainHenry9161058d ago

It doesn't bother me either. What this is about is Jim Ryan still lied. How can is fanbase trust him if he lies to millions of gamers 🤔

zebrahim1058d ago

You are so right. I am very very disappointed with my PS5. It's a white PS4 with a controller whose triggers click and stick. I haven't seen anything compelling.

ShadowWolf7121058d ago

"We have always felt that we had a responsibility to serve that [PS4] community for several years after the launch of PS5 and that it represented a huge business opportunity for us," Ryan says. "The numbers are quite straightforward. If you say in broad brush figures that we have a community of 100 million PS4 owners right now, and in the first couple of years... I don't know, somewhere between 15 and 25 million might migrate to PS5, that still leaves a huge number of people with PS4s."

From the same "we believe in generations" interview that everyone wants to cherry-pick. This was always in the cards, as were games that are PS5-only.

It's almost as if they're doing what they said they'd do.

Master of Unlocking1057d ago (Edited 1057d ago )

Has it not crossed your mind that Sony may have said that "We believe in generations" before they knew they'd run into some shortage of chips necessary to build their PS5, and before they knew the world would be subject to a pandemic which would, among other things, affect people's economic situation and force them to think twice before splurging half a grand on a next-gen video game console?

John_McClane1057d ago

Herman just saved me $400/$500!

medman1057d ago

I am not a fan of Sony's approach to this generation. I have owned every Sony console since the ps1, with the exception of the handheld console. I buy consoles to play new experiences that push the tech, and advance games forward. When you design a game for a weak for 2013 jaguar cpu, that game will have limitations that if you had designed specifically for the ps5 you wouldn't have. I don't care how Sony tries to spin it....that is just ridiculous. As I said, I have owned every Sony console, but if they don't focus on giving the ps5 the games designed specifically for it that it deserves, this may very well be the last Sony console I buy. It's that disappointing for me personally to see this new approach Sony is taking. It didn't happen in any other generation. If Naughty Dog's next game is also going to be cross generational, that will be the final straw for me.

It sounds like HFW is at risk of being pushed to 2022 too:

"For Horizon, we think we are on track to release this holiday season. But that isn’t quite certain yet, and we’re working as hard as we can to confirm that to you as soon as we can."

Tacoboto1058d ago

So we could actually get the cross-gen Halo Infinite, with 60fps and Ray Tracing, before the 30fps HFW with no Ray Tracing.

If we take 2020 N4G seriously, HFW is committing many next-gen sins and needs a delay or else.

waverider1058d ago

With those kind of graphics Halo can run even at 240 frames with ultra RT, because it look two gen apart.

Atom6661057d ago

By rumors do you mean shitty Kataku "journalists" falling for a troll post?

JEECE1058d ago

Even early-PS3 Sony made real exclusives for their new console. And PS2 had a bigger install base than PS4 does, while PS3 sold slower than PS5.

1058d ago
darthv721058d ago

@JEECE, I'm going to assume you have a PS5, so here is a legit question. Do you really feel that the announcement of there being more cross gen games in some way devalues the PS5?

For me personally... no. And it is because i know how much more this system can and will offer over time that i fully understand their decision to keep the 4 alive and its player base happy in the mean time. There will come a point where the 5 will be more attainable and people will make that shift in even higher numbers, but now is not that time. And now is not the time to cut off support for the PS4.

I am reminded of the criticism that MS received for cutting off the 360 and moving over to the next gen. And here you and others are basically doing the same thing. Wanting Sony to pull the plug on the 4 in terms of it receiving some high quality titles during this transition period. I'm sure there are WAY more PS4 owners who are excited by this news than there are PS5 owners who are disappointed.

As a 5 owner myself, I really like this news as it means that I can buy both. The 5 version of a GoW for myself and the 4 version for my son. We both win and Sony ends up making $$ off me twice. Under no circumstances do I feel slighted or cheated out of something because I still get to enjoy the best version I can while my son gets to do the same.

Kornholic1057d ago

I own a PS5 and crossgen Sony titles devalue the PS5. I want true PS5 games since I had faith in Sony and bought the device. I just with Sony had faith in their console, as well.

RaidenBlack1058d ago

GT7 is cross-gen too?
Will Sucker Punch's next title be cross-gen too?

TGGJustin1058d ago

Doubtful. These games here started development years ago and on PS4. Sucker Punch just put a game out last year so it's obvious that their next game will be PS5 only.

Obscure_Observer1058d ago

"Will Sucker Punch's next title be cross-gen too?"

Lol. It´s virtually impossible to SP´s new game to be crossgen game. Ghost of Tsushima got released last year.

All new games from SP, BEND, Media Molecule and Naughty Dog (not the TLOU Remake) will be true next gen games.

Profchaos1d 5h ago (Edited 1d 5h ago )

Bethesda France focused on publishing and marketing in the region. And 15 people lost their jobs as part of the closure.

I wonder if this is part of Microsoft's strategy to abandoned physical media or possibly gamepass advertising makes their roles redundant you don't need to market a game as hard when the majority of players get the game as part of a sub which already promoted upcoming games

Tacoboto1d 5h ago

It's France too, there's a high likelihood only 1-2 people on the team even had an Xbox.
