Xbox doesn’t have a two years console exclusivity on Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision for Gaming

Yesterday, a post on the French Xbox Wire website mistakenly claimed that Microsoft had a two years console exclusivity for Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision for Gaming.

Does anyone else have problems with Dolby Atmos and wireless headsets on PC through the Xbox adapter?

My Xbox Wireless Headset from MS cuts in and out with Virtual Surround on. Metro & Village both have that happen, but only with that setting

Yeah... I thought the last article was BS as the PS5 does send Atmos to the reciever via Bitstream. Atmos is a data track for steering not a discrete audio channel.

Just like there was a mistake raising the xbox live price, and a mistake with cutting the 30% that they make off devs down to 12%.. Seems like MS makes a lot of mistakes that get glossed over.

Microsoft did not address the XBL pricing as a mistake. It was a planned change that they changed based on community response to it. And the documents showing 30% to 12% was factual on PC and console change was not addressed other than to say it was only going to happen with PC pricing. So to imagine either of those are in any way the same as Microsoft coming out directly and exclaiming this was "inaccurate information regarding exclusivity" is simply trying to throw shade on Microsoft for no relative reason.

I suppose if you heard what was said between the suits in the Sony boardroom, you would have a stroke.

Figures are thrown around every board meeting, it is how a company decides plans to make money from consumers/publishers.

We have meetings about how in essence we can squeeze every pound out of our customers, it is called business.

They start like this "how can we increase profits, whilst reducing overhead"

They do not start like "how can we give our customers more value for their money?"

This makes a lot more sense than the other article saying they did have exclusivity. It would have been such a bizarre, compartmentalized exclusive that would probably motivate the most severe Xbox fanboys to buy another Xbox, but no one else. I can see people buying Xbox. Makes sense for things like Game Pass and enhanced classics... But for Dolby features? Yeah, I didn't get it. If nothing else, it's a sign that Microsoft has some ideas now about what people actually care for.

Glad they didn't get an exclusive deal with something that few gamers will be using or even have the setup to use. MS need to keep focus on providing AAA exclusive games...nothing else. Gamers like me will not buy another XBOX console until they start providing those AAA games....not that interested in Dolby Vision or Atmos if there aren't great games.

People reporting on things before they really even know whats going on. Journalism ladies and gentlemen. Unprofessional. Sometimes you wonder why that right is in the constitution, gives people an excuse to be nosey and for Karens.
