Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Download File Size and Pre-load Date Revealed

Recently, a Twitter page known as PlayStation Game Size revealed that Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart was approximately 42.2 GB, which is a considerable size for the PS5 SSD, but nothing much different than what we are used to seeing in recent games.

This game on PS4 would have taken up 60+ gb. The argument about storage size is not valid because texture compression tech has made the install sizes so much smaller. My PS5 stores the same number of games as my ps4 pro. Granted, I have no COD games installed. Every other franchise is 20gb+ smaller on ps5 over ps4.

Viking_mo1449d ago

Yep. The PS5 Kraken engine is a force to be reckoned with

Orbilator1448d ago

Soon as he mention considerable size for the SSD storage, I lost interest in the article.

COD is the only time you can use a phrase like that. As that's just bloatware.

StoneyYoshi1448d ago (Edited 1448d ago )

They only jump onto the "considerable size" band wagon because the PS5 cant use expandable internal storage yet for PS5 games. Idk what they are expecting from next-gen games with their storage size. Were they expecting max of 20Gb games across the board or something? Its bizzare...

The ability of having this great of compression just means the Devs can add even more to their games without having to worry about breaking the 100+ GB barrier like with the recent COD games.

Rimeskeem1449d ago

Honestly, if the game is under 50 gigs I consider that a major win for a AAA budget title today. I mean, Warzone is 70 gigs by itself on PC.

Size is max of 42GB and you can Pre-Load on June 4th to play on June 11 so, there you go.

However, dont forget this article is already outdated because theres a Day 1 update, unfortunately, they should press to the disc, but wont, that could and likely will increase the file size, no doubt so plan on more.

Orbilator1448d ago

You don't know that, your just guessing, patches replace files not necessarily adding anything so don't flame about something you don't know.

How ‘Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ Did Dual Protagonists Right (And Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Didn’t)

Shaz from Pixel Swish: “Both Insomniac Games and Ubisoft have given us games with dual protagonists. However, where Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart’s duo feel exactly the same, Assassin’s Creed Shadow’s Yasuke and Naoe feel unique.”

They are exactly the same because it's another version of Ratchet within the multiverse. It's not Ratchet himself or a female version of him but it's someone else who's taken his place / role within that Universe.

The_Hooligan36d ago

Agreed! A better comparison take would have been between AC Syndicate and AC Shadows.

gold_drake38d ago

with ratchet, they are the same, they play the exact same.

im not even sure why this needs to be said, we all know.

isarai38d ago

They weren't trying to make them play differently, literally 2 versions of the same person. Wo ur saying they failed at something they never set out to do 🤨

Profchaos36d ago

What in the f who even thought of that concept and connect these two games that released years apart and have nothing to do with each other.

You could of said fuel protagonist vs other times where AC did duel protagonist or a game like GTA v that allows for on the fly switching

Like how desperate are they for clicks

Levii_9236d ago

Rivet's character was more useless and forced than Abby from TLOU2.

MULTIVERSESSSSSSS!!! Remember that trend people lol? Also remeber how a beloved vilain Dr Neferious was reduced to a braindead wimp and a parody of himself?

“MULTIVERSESSSSSSS!!! Remember that trend people lol?”

It’s still going on. Especially @ Marvel.

Our First Look At FSR 4? AMD's New AI Upscaling Tech Is Impressive

DigitalFoundry : Running on AMD's new Radeon 9070-series GPUs at CES 2025, a machine learning upscaling demo of Sony's Ratchet and Clank is almost certainly FSR 4 AI upscaling - and as it's running on Ratchet and Clank - our 'go to game' for AI upscaling quality tests, we could really put the tech through its paces. Oliver and Alex are at the show - and this is their report.

They're saying better than PSSR! Impressive.. guess it's really close to Nvidia's solution. I'm interested in seeing how the 9070XT or whatever their highest end card will perform, we already know AMD are only aiming for the mid range (or upper mid range) with these new cards but it will still be interesting to see how they compare to a 5070Ti on price/performance.

But certain apps don't play well with AMD that do with Nvidia cards, shame because these cards could be great/price performance.. but not an issue for pure gamers.

Visually it may well be similar to DLSS, but they were quick to point out that they do not have any actual performance data at this point. Time will tell, but it is definitely promising and good to see them impressing.

Interesting. Since AMD is largely behind PSSR, they’ve now sort of have two different upscalers in play. Curious to see how it all pans out.

There's too many games to choose from

No Metal geat solid 1,2,3,4?
No Resident evil?
No Silent hill?
No Midnight club 3?
No NfS Underground 2?
No Final Fantasy?
No Burnout 3?
No Dragon quest 8?
No Days gone?
No Ace combat?
No Tekken/Soul calibur?......
just from the top of my head

PS1 era was full of great RPGs, PS2 was racing generation i would pick top 200 and even that would be just a fraction.

FinalFantasyFanatic169d ago

30 is way too low over the entire history of Playstation, I just wouldn't be able to narrow it down that much, I would pick 100 at least.

Storm23169d ago

Yeah...really odd list. I get that it is personal preference and I love most of the games listed, but my list would definitely be different. I agree though, it would be incredibly difficult to come up with just 30.

lockedongamer1169d ago (Edited 169d ago )

I only picked first-party titles. Otherwise, I agree!

EDIT: Except for Days Gone, I don't get the love for it but you do you!

Chocoburger160d ago

I didn't like Days Gone either, it doesn't deserve to be on any best of list.
