Codemasters CEO Frank Sagnier said the integration with EA has been perfect so far, with Electronic Arts listening but not forcing anything.
The shoe fits nice for a while with EA then after they use your shoe and break it in an its all worn out they will toss it to the trash. Codemasters might think things are great now but once EA is done picking you guys apart they will move on to fresh new meat.
A lot of takeovers work like this at first. There are two approaches. First approach. Take them over and just give them money to do what they want. There are two results of this approach. 1) They are successful and create success in the bigger company and are allowed to do this forever. 2) They don't make enough money after a few game releases so the mothership comes in and educates them on the best ways to make money (Obviously the approach along with continued success is the most desirable outcome for gamers) The second approach is let's skip the do what you want approach, and just go to us telling you how to make money at what you do. It looks like EA is choosing the first approach here, but that may only last a few games if Codemasters does not have good success.
Came here to this exact word. Just give it a few years.
Exactly. It's only been a few weeks. I don't even think it'll take years. Months at most. And let's see what happens if their first game released under the EA umbrella doesn't perform to EA's expectations.
I, too, do not publicly criticize my new bosses in hopes of not losing my job and selling the view that everything is okay. *cue dog in burning house meme*
This. Just watch it be loaded up with MT stuff ready to go at launch just like what was done to Need for Speed.
Heat didnt have any microtransactions and it's probably my favorite nfs since the underground games
@execution17 That's reassuring. It felt like Payback could have been fun if it wasn't for that stupid card upgrade system.
I think there was an update after release that added in MTs to Heat
I approved this story only so I could see the comments on this story. I have no doubt they would have said the same thing if anyone bought them. lol
Come on now We all know damn well they are going to say anything that makes their new overloards look good. Even though we have history to show the exact opposite of what codemasters said.
Jesus, talk about gag worthy analogies. Let alone naive.
Still in their honeymoon phase.
That shoe probably gnaws off your toes or heel for you, so you don't have to mutilate your foot yourself. That's the only way I can see it being remotely like a Cinderella shoe. You can tell that I prefer the Grimm version of the story for that gratuitous plot element. On the other hand, if EA were a guy, he probably would be the shallow type who "falls madly in love" with a girl he very briefly met, but somehow only remembers a very minute detail about her, such as her shoe size. I suppose there's no way to truly verify if Cinderella truly lived happily ever after with the prince, but she probably just became his property. You know what? This analogy actually works better than I thought when I began criticizing it. Heck, EA has about as much personality as the prince in the story.
Codemaster: EA I'll suck your D*** EA: sure
Lets revisit this statement in 5 years and see if it aged well :P
It won't even take that long.
Its already been announced they are working on BF development so good to hear this from the CEO
Codemasters is about to get f***ed so hard. =(
Wait, didn't BioWare said something similar? Yes, they did - https://www.gamasutra.com/p... And Pandemic Studios also said something similar, that - and i quote - «We kind of pride ourselves on our independence for the last couple years, and we definitely want that to continue. And by all signs, that will continue as we move forward.» To be shut down 2 years later. I mean, it's not the first time EA acts like your friend at first to then stab you in the back. If it's true and EA will not interfere - great. But they don't have a good track record.
If you are in trouble Codemaster, blink twice.
Meanwhile, EA bumped up the price of the 2021 F1 game. In some regions it's x3 more expensive over last year's on release. And in true EA fashion, the newer game is missing 3 tracks. Selling you a lesser product but want more for it. Any CEO that says such nonsense really hasn't been following the industry and how many studios EA bought and shutdown.
Where's the cap in all this?
Give it time EA will become the Evil Stepsister’s!
It’s like they wrote that with a gun to their heads lol
Why is this quote remind me the Joker "You Complete Me"?.......
You can almost smell the horseshit from behind your screen.
Well, he would say that wouldn't he? How long until he quits?
Had to look up what Codemasters work on - Those F1 games sell well, so EA is probably happy just to leave that be for now.
R I P Codemasters.
Thats why me team and microtransactions have been added in. All in preparation for the EA takeover.
Little that he knows that Cinderella is a fairy tale.
He forgot to add the "for now" part.
you cant blame them for liking money, but lol
lmao DICE said the same thing when EA acquired them.
