Square Enix has shared their financial results for the year ending March 31, 2021, and there are hints of a release window for Final Fantasy XVI and more.
Ah dang I was hoping for sooner rather than later. Will still be nice to play forspoken then.
What? The reasoning here is so stupid. "In their fiscal presentation, the company outlined its plans for 2022 and beyond. In their presentation, the company suggested that it will be focused on releasing new IPs in their next year ending on March 31, 2022. This rules out games like Final Fantasy XVI or Dragon Quest XII." But you know there is truth in these sentences. It will be out 2021.
Their reasoning is ridiculous, but at the same time this is Squeenix we're talking about. I wouldn't expect this or Forspoken before 2022.
It makes absolutely sense. They would let their investor know early on for sure if they are going to release a Final Fantasy game, because they sell a lot ->generate revenue->advances the stock price. For investors the whole point is predictability, not surprised. It’s not ready yet. Late 2022 sounds about right.
"It makes absolutely sense. They would let their investor know early on for sure if they are going to release a Final Fantasy game, because they sell a lot ->generate revenue->advances the stock price." I disagree. They rarely leak upcoming game releases in their fiscal release reports. Especially if the game is one of the corner stones of sellment.
That's... certainly a way to interpret that.
Judging by how long these games take after Dwuare announces them, it doesn’t surprise me it’ll probably be a 2023 game if that. If it releases 2023 I can’t imagine when FF7 Remake Part 2 will get released assuming they don’t want their titles to compete for sales.
You really think that Square will have FF XVI in development for another 1-2 years after hit has entered it's 5th at the moment?
In that case 2023
Whichever comes first ,I don’t mind. Both games look interesting.
I personally bet on summer 2023. 2021/2022 will probably belong to FFXIV Endwalker and Forspoken (possibly FFVIIR-2 at the latter half) for their big releases.
I hope whenever it does come out, it's not rushed. If it comes out in 2022 because they need more time to polish and get the bugs out, I'm cool with that. Since games cost $70 now I'd rather spend that money on a game that doesn't glitch out
Just a funny observation.... "Final Fantasy XVI is being developed by Creative Business Unit 3 at Square Enix" You would think that if a business unit was creative it would not have a generic and completely uncreative name like, "Creative Business Unit 3"
