So far as much as I am enjoying Village I have to give the nod to 7 that's one of the best horror games ever made

jukins1072d ago

7 only beacause vr. I just cant get into re8 it doesnt feel scary like re7 did.

SullysCigar1072d ago

RE8 isn't really finished until it releases on PSVR2 next year.

badboyz091072d ago

8 releasing on PSVR2? If so I'm waiting just like I'm doing cyberpunk for PS5.

Bienviento house is one of the scariest things in any horror game ever created. Outside of that the game kind of feels to by the book and a bit safe. I like it but don’t love it. And your right it’s not scary aside from that one section.

Blackcanary1071d ago

Bienviento house wasn't scary at all. Outlast is more scarier than that part of the game.

Better is hard but I’m still playing Village. Both games play great on horror tropes. RE7 was more film tropes and Village plays in horror tropes in books and fairy tales. RE7 really hit the nail on the head for the first 85% and then sort of felt a little silly as it ramped up the action at the end. With Village, the action fits perfectly. When the game wants you to feel tense, the game ramps that up. When the game wants you to feel afraid and there is some horror here, it makes you live in fear. I’m nearing the end (10+ hours in) and I am very impressed with the story and gameplay. Village has an homage to RE4 like 7 did for the original in many ways. I’m still going to see how it plays out but there was a lot more here than expected and it’s been great!

I give it to 7. Both are solid experiences, but 7 is a much better horror experience.

Cyberpunk and No Man's Sky have to be up there. We're lucky and cursed, equally, to have games that can be updated now. For folks old enough to remember the Sega/SNES into PS1 and even 2 eras, if a game came out that was half baked (*cough*Angel of Darkness*cough*) that was it, no redemption. At the same time, having the option for updates shouldn't be an excuse for half assing games.

I remember when the Nintendo Seal of Approval meant something.

All those games had to release without bugs.

Comebacks shouldnt be a thing in videogames. Just saying.
