What’s happening with Sony’s latest console, now that it’s been out for six months? Supply issues aside, it’s proving to be much more than a simple evolution.
I really like the controller and astro was a great way for people to experience what it is capable of. I have been enjoying its benefits for existing games but all of that will change on June 11th.
I really enjoyed Astro, but i wished it was actually a full blown game.
Me too but it wouldn't have been done for launch. I guarantee they are working on a full version right now.
I'd wager there's a sequel in the works for the launch of PSVR2. The first is one of the best games in VR to date.
That was my first ever platinum on a PlayStation console. I enjoyed it immensely and it was a great little showcase for the controller. I loved every moment. I want a full blown sequel with the same tech and level design philosophy. To think, I was gonna skip playing it when I got my PS5 on launch... silly ole dumb me
True, but if that was the case, would the game still have been free? It was just beefy enough and now we can all look forward to a pull blown Astro game in the future. :)
June 11th is when Ratchet & Clank releases for all the naysayers. It's going to be popping like Kellogg's Rice Krispies Yo! 😁
I have to agree with you on that
So it will eventually get soggy, unappealing, and won't pop at all? (yes, I'm purposefully being too realistic, it's a joke, even if it's a bad one)
I hope it lives up to the hype!
I didn’t think it would be that big of a deal, but now I get excited when I hear how devs utilize the Dual Sense
Even Returnal takes advantage of its controller and 3D audio. Rachet and Clank is around the corner by the way. Another exclusive
25+ Playstation Studios games which includes about half being new IP's. Though they aren't all first party since Returnal and Destruction All Stars were also under the Playstation Studios label, it's still awesome to hear how they are investing in so many games that are both big, small, and from different genres.
Sounds like 14 existing IPs and 11 Entirely New IPs then. I’m down as long as they genuinely keep them staggered as they have. April = Returnal June = RC: Rift Apart August = Kena Bridge of Sprits October = Forbidden West?
Ff7 intergrade in June as well
I have a day one ps5 and I still haven't bought a ps5 game, just enjoying the ps5 enhancements. £70 for a game has put me off, but R&Clank will be day one.
I'm playing Wreckfest And cod mw. Will play Abe's oddest next month And ratchet and clank after that. There is no shortage.
I switched wreckfest from series s (gamepass) to ps5 (ps+) because of the 60fps mode. 60fps is a real game changer.
Stop whinging. I don't see anyone complaining fast food is an average of $10 a meal now. Eat out a few times a week and you've almost paid for a ps5 game. Gamers want to cry about micro transactions but can't be bothered to pay a few more dollars at retail. It's nonsense, just one of those things that gets repeated w/o any critical thought on the matter.
I agree with you. People spend lots of mo ey on micro transactions and DLC and deluxe editions but cannot pay 10 dollars more for a quality amazing game like Demon Souls, Returnal or Rift Apart? I thinks whinners are just using this as an excuse the same way they are crying about scalpers now.
Some people are voting with their wallets. When is it not going to be just "a few more dollars at retail"? $80 is only $10 more than $70, $90 is only just $10 than $80. When is it ok for people to start "whining" about a completely unnecessary raise in price only because the industry can dictate that? Hell, not all next-gen games are $70 so that goes to show you how pointless the price hike is. It's not the $10 hike that people can't do, it's the principle of the fact of the matter.
Exactly my point. Gaming is a luxury not a necessity so griping about the price of something you don't need is asinine. If it's a problem, save your money and be responsible.
@CrimsonWing69 Games prices have historically increased every couple console generations. There's no reason to expect an arbitrary increase to $80 or $90 this gen, that's just dumb. You might not pay it now but you'll pay it later if you want to keep playing games. All you're doing is hurting the developers that release good games early in this gen, disincentivizing sequels/DLC and quality next gen content. That's what your vote is actually doing. There haven't been many next gen/ PS5 exclusive titles, but Demon's Souls and Returnal are priced consistently so I don't know WTF you're talking about. WHY EVEN BUY A PS5 IF YOU REFUSE TO BUY GAMES FOR IT!?
People need to stop talking shite about price. Ps5 games are not 10usd more. A typical full price PS4 game would be £45 and with ps5 that has jumped to £70. Would you like me to calculate the increase as a percentage for you? All this at a time when the gaming industry is making more money than ever.
Might I ask, what's the point? I really don't see the argument behind the 10 difference between this and last gen. The same thing took place between the last gen and the previous one. I do understand that there are a lot of people struggling but why even bother buying games? Isn't there more important things to do with your money?
Entitlement is what it is. It's weird to me because here in Canada people didn't stop gaming because the games prices went from $60 to $80 within 2 years DURING the PS4 Xone gen lol. Some do buy online now to save the tax but if you want a game buy it. If you don't like the price just don't buy it. This whole thing they're doing about "it's $70 so I'm not buying" is just weird lol.
I think you'll find a lot of us who are complaining are not US citizens. To put in perspective the price hike in the UK has made the games $98.47 (£70) a pop. They were generally £50 towards end of last gen $70.38. That is a significant rise. The price is even higher when you consider special editions and micro transactions have not gone away on a majority of titles. So yeah. I am in the camp that the price was too high and am still yet to buy a first party game on my PS5 due to this.
$70.00 dollars for a game with no MS and probably no DLC... so yeah, that's that. And if there's DLC it'll be probably free or an amazing add-on for a reasonable price.
Have you tried playing any of the games from the PS Collection? There’s a bunch to get after and download directly. Free of course if you have a PS Plus subscription
Im sure he has but he didn't have to buy them. He just meant he didn't buy any games yet but is enjoying the enhanced games and probably the PS+ games.
Look at the inflation rates that came out today . Everything has gone up in price but games haven’t in a long time until now and is necessary to stay profitable and to keep a healthy business . I don’t want games and consoles to go away so I support the best company with money as that’s what they need to stay around. If I’m getting high quality exclusives frequently enough that 10$ is doing it’s job .
Well said. I couldn't agree more.
Pretty much how I feel as well.
Guessing you are too young to remember game costs in the 80s and 90s. I paid over $100 in today's money for super Mario bros 3.
Most of the launch games you can get below 69.99 used so no excuses
https://www.youtube.com/wat... - The Prices MUST Rise - Gamings Greatest Lie how many more devs have to lose their jobs when their parent company spits out the highest profits for that particular quarter, will people understand that the hike doesn't help the employees who aren't in upper management or better yet, a stock holder? refusing the purchase any title for $70 at launch should speak volumes to the publisher....if you value the title at $70 and can afford it, more power to you. But don't shame the players who choses not to pay the full price and are willing to wait for the price to come down or purchase it 2nd hand.
If you use a bit of internet cunning & research, while taking advantage of discount offers you can knock a good few quid off. Like you, I find paying £70 a touch on the expensive side for my budget. I pre ordered both Resident Evil Village along with Ratchet for a total of £94.81 with free delivery. So this works out at £47.40 per game. You need to know the cheaper UK game websites. The Game Collection - Offer Games - Simply Games - Shopto - 365games - to name but a few sites ----- use whichever is offering the best deals etc at the best time and take advantage of which site is offering additional money off by way of - say a 10% off discount voucher code that you apply at checkout etc. Sometimes these sites offer money off if it's your first purchase, so if you already have an account, create a new one and take advantage. You also need to strike while the iron is hot & pre order at the right time, as the prices fluctuate on these sites. Also bought Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Call of Duty - used copies - on Amazon for £38 each back in Jan & early Feb. Resident Evil Village is utterly stunning on PS5. Terrific game. Really looking forward to Ratchet as I love the series.
I managed to get Demon Souls new and Cold War used for £35 each, and there was a great deal in Tesco so got Resident Evil Village for £35 new.
I dont understand the 36 downvotes for this comment
But the 'narrative" from people like Jason Schreier and Jeff Grubb said otherwise. Just further proof no one should be listening to haters like them. PlayStation will always invest in new IP and that isn't stopping anytime soon.
You know what they say, haters hate for attention.... 🤔 or maybe it's just me saying it? Lol
Theres no way I can trust Jeff Grubb. He praised crackdown 3 and said God of War was crap.
The only thing Jeff Grubb needs to do is wash his goddamn hair!
JS and JG are bottom of the barrel when it comes to gaming news.
I mean go back 2 years and NO ONE knew who Jeff Grubb was. People only pay attention because he got some companies to leak some events to him early last year. Except Sony that is which is why he does nothing but hate on them.
Demon's Souls and Returnal are some of the best launch window games ever IMO.
Astros playroom was super great for me too. I loved every minute of it.
Never doubted it for one min, the PS5 is very special and I have said it before. We are only getting started. Imagine in a few years when devs are really flexing it's muscles.
Oh that's a given. It's been like that every generation. The games released near the end are always leaps and bounds above that which was released near the launch. The devs get better acquainted with the ins/outs of the system over the course of its life. i expect some truly amazing achievements this gen.
R&C still looks great on PS4.
"the biggest console launch in US history. Bigger than the Nintendo Wii. Bigger than the Xbox One. Bigger than even the PS4." To think that the PS5 has managed all that in the face of haters saying "Sony is dommed, they lost their way, fire Jim Rying". PS5 is the only next Gen console giving next Gen experiences with a revolutionary controller, Tempest 3D audio and amazing SSD technology.
I've had mine since day one and I have never NOT felt that it has been everything Sony promised it would be. I seriously have no complaints! Since I got PS5, I have platinumed Astro's Playroom, Spider-Man Ultimate, Spider-Man Miles Morales, Bugsnax, and Ghost of Tushima. I have also beaten Sackboy: A Big Adventure and Demon's Souls and I'm currently working on Returnal. I'm loving the Dualsense controller. I'm loving the fast loading. I'm loving the quiet console. And I'm loving the performance boost to PS4 games.
Just got an email GameStop has bundles dropping any minute .729$ with returnal and mlb the show 2 controllers and 20$ GameStop card . I don’t like bundles but yeah someone may be interested
I like mine. Huge QoL upgrade, and BC PS4 games, plus Demon's Souls and a Switch have been way more than I can play since it released. Borderlands 3 is a huge, huge, HUGE upgrade going from PS4 Pro w/ SSD to PS5.
I dunno, i sort of already felt that with Astrobot and Demon's Souls. Just waiting for that huge game built from the ground up specifically for PS5. Ratchet looks like it's it for me
I benefitted from the fact that I had not yet played Ghost of Tsushima and Spider-Man on PS4. So my first experience with those games WAS on PS5 with all the graphic and performance bells and whistles. So to me, those games felt every bit as "next gen" as Demon's Souls and Astrobot. Playing Spider-Man and Miles Morales with Dualsense features, no loading, 60fps, and with ray tracing was awesome! Playing Ghost of Tsushima at 60fps with almost no loading was awesome. The mere fact that these games exist on PS4 didn't lessen the impact they had on me playing them on PS5 whatsoever. That's why I'm not concerned whatsoever whether any of these games are ONLY PS5 or on both because I am fully confident that the PS5 experience will be superior regardless.
Eh if you mean by no enthusiasm as to buying it compared to a Series X/S then yes.
I knew the storm was coming. What Sony is achieving with the PS5 technology in terms of immersion is truly remarkable. And it’s only just begun :) We’re in for a treat!
Lets hope Sony make some updates to support 1440p native, and more 120hz support. Also - would really love if sony allowed you to "copy" games from cold storage instead of only allowing you to move them from cold storage. That is a huge problem for me because I have two PS5's and don't want to have to download the game a separate time to my second PS5 in my game room. Considering datacaps with ISP's a copy feature would be really nice. I do realize I have some very niche issues owning two PS5's, but I think there have to be others out there who share my gripes about PS5. If those features are added, it will start to look more like the revolution I was expecting. Both of these features just work on my Xbox, and to me it seems like it should just be a next-gen feature standard.
Copying games would be a way to duplicate games. You can have a separate SSD for each console and download them on each, but to copy from one machine to another and retain it on the SSD? That's a massive no-no for cybersecurity/licensing control
I don't really think its a major security risk to be able to copy games from a cold storage SSD to your internal drive. It works on Xbox without any issues and generally speaking, there have been less security related incidents on Xbox over time than there have been with Playstation. I don't see what the security risk is of being able to copy vs move a game from cold storage to an internal drive, especially when those drives are being formatted using both Sony and Microsofts custom file systems that are not readable by a Windows machine, and only allow reads and writes to the drive if they are legitimate games that are on your console. Digital licenses are redeemed by you being logged in to your account, so if you haven't purchased the key for the game, the games are also not functional. I legitimately would like to understand the security risk if you have time to respond.
I think from the start it felt next gen. Astrobot was perfect to show that beside spec, it got a next gen gamepad and it got a ui super fast. Something that was so slow on the ps4. Their games are impressive. Miles morales is excelent and now having fun with returnal. Sony just delivers. Thats the reality.
The only exclusive I bought was Demons Souls the others are all meh for me. I like the controller but not for COD, I feel that the new xbox controller is way more comfortable for FPS games.
You belong to a minor 0.00001% minority
Are you guys for real? Next gen feel? Sure both consoles have excellent QoL changes that make it hard to go back to older consoles, so yeah I agree to an extent on that front. Sony is also missing a lot of "Next Gen" features, no SSD support. No Vrr support. no 1440p option, mediocre BC and ugly giant system.(I think XS look bad too, but PS5 is way more stand out). DS Controller is nice, and I think it's way better than the DS4, controllers always comes down to preference..I still like the feel of the Switch Pro controller best. We cant possibly be talking about the games then, while Sony has shown stronger leap with the Tech behind the games than MS so far, I would hardly call either one game changing Next gen..have most of you never played PC games? DS: Remake looks fantastic but I think RE8 looks better, sooo..not the best looking game, Spiderman looks excellent, but not as good as Control..sooo..ok. R&C looks a step above tho, so I think that will be the first True feeling "Next Gen" game. Just my 2 cents, but it's funny how the Fan base acts like this is the 2nd coming in gaming......hardly, too much missing(for now, will be different in a year I bet)
So much builshit in 1 comment.
Right. Not going through all but let me just take one: 'mediocre BC'. Here you go: 'PlayStation 5 backwards compatibility tested - and it's fantastic' - https://www.eurogamer.net/a...
@ Maji, Please Elaborate? Correct me if you think i'm wrong.
You could have resumed all that saying... I'm salty because of the massive PS5 success. It would have been easier.
