Sony and MS are churning them out as fast as they can. For those who are new to the 9th gen, welcome. To the rest who are still trying to get in... don't give up.

Automatic7943d ago

@Darth

Don't trust these estimates. Xbox is over 6 million world wide. VGChartz seriously under estimating Xbox Sales Globally.

Jin_Sakai43d ago

Then maybe Microsoft should just announce hardware sales so it wouldn’t be a guessing game.

TGGJustin43d ago

You have a source for that 6 million number? Because everywhere I've heard the PS5 is outselling the Xbox Series by quite a lot

BLUEBLASTER42d ago

@Darth got any hard facts to back that up?

Vengeance113842d ago (Edited 42d ago )

Thats VERY wishful thinking, you wish! The same can be said for Sony, don't trust these estimates! Sony is over 10M sold worldwide, oh wait, you can't because Sony isnt terrified to show their hardware sale numbers like MS is.

S2Killinit42d ago (Edited 42d ago )

Interesting because historically they underestimate PlayStations. Not xbox.

And if you missed Darths point, he is trying to imply that xbox continues to sell less than half Playstation, just like last gen, because of shortage. Which doesnt seem to be at all based on facts as xboxs are becoming more and more available indicating that demand is being met (somewhat).

curtain_swoosh42d ago

yeh no.
VGC is usally overestimating Xbox sales. bit bias them ppl over there.

zarbor42d ago (Edited 42d ago )

Nobody cares. That real story in those numbers is the SWITCH.....which is crushing everything else. Who are all these people buying a Switch now and what game(s) are selling that well with the console? That's the real story.

bouzebbal42d ago

Switch selling at this pace is a mystery for me.. This console has absolutely 0 asset and is only living of wii u legacy

darthv7242d ago

@Blue... back what up? I didn't say anything controversial.

You were replying to Automatic so maybe you got us confused.

justadelusion42d ago

just admit it, xbox forever on bottom

DarthMarvin42d ago

@bouzebbal Yeah, I really don't get it either. I haven't bought a Swich game in probably over two years.

I'll jump in comfortably when there are games to play. Early adoption of new consoles is low value.

Rimeskeem43d ago

Both Sony and MS would be selling at least double if they could make the consoles faster.

Shane Kim42d ago (Edited 42d ago )

It's a cheap (actually expensive for its shitty tech inside) piece of plastic for kids. Obviously it's going to sell.

zacfoldor42d ago (Edited 42d ago )

I've heard that argument a million times, but usually it comes from PC gamers talking about all consoles. IMO, it is just as flawed in this context. I like my Switch and I like my PS5. I don't personally feel the need to marginalize one to promote the other.

Also, it really wasn't obvious to me the console would sell this well, 3 years ago.

NeoGamer23242d ago

I don't know about you, but I can buy a lot smarter and less expensive pieces of plastic to give kids then a $199 or $299 Switch.

Switch is successful because it has a really good form factor and a lot of people that are gaming like the portability. It is something I wish PC, PS, and MS would do. I would be willing to pay more for a full powered high end mobile gaming experience that was not streaming based or compromised graphics/processing capabilities for size.

King_Noctis42d ago

You’ve lost me at “piece of plastic for kids”. I often wonder how comments like your get upvoted on this site.

Me and my friends like to drink beer and play Smash and Mario Kart. I have to assume we arent the only ones.

You weren't sure the Switch would sell? It's a handheld. The lowest selling Nintendo handheld is the 3DS at 75 mil. The Switch is a far better designed system than its predecessor. Now Nintendo consoles on the other hand are another story and I doubt Ninty ever releases another one.

zacfoldor42d ago (Edited 42d ago )

If you are saying that everyone expected the Switch to be a huge sales success before it was released, no, I disagree.

jukins42d ago

Switch is crazy. Selling that much based moatly off nintendo legacy titles. Nintendo not for me but gotta give props. Wonder if they'll ever change the system at this rste. Could just offer incrementally more powerful consoles as time goes.

DefiledViper42d ago

Serious question: With the global chip and semi conductor shortages, how is Nintendo not getting screwed like Sony and Microsoft? How are so many Switch’s available?

Rainbowcookie42d ago

Must be different chips ?? dunno but a valid point. Could be that the switches where manufactured in bulk in the last two years amd nintendo was sitting on stock?

bosoxs50542d ago

Nintendo is using the older 16nm nodes for the X1 (same as the Nvidia Shield). Probably had a ton of chips stocked up too.

septemberindecember42d ago (Edited 42d ago )

@DefiledViper

Sony is breaking records, MS is selling more consoles than before (allegedly) and Nintendo is breaking records. The chip shortage is due to a large amount of demand. Also, Nintendo does use different chips than Sony and MS.

StoneyYoshi42d ago

It has nothing to do with them using a different chip since all GPU's and CPU's are made from silicon which is why we are having a chip shortage. Nintendo just managed to score more silicon inventory for their production before the shortage happened which is why they aren't struggling to produce systems as bad as the PS5 and Xbox right now.

Good-Smurf42d ago (Edited 42d ago )

I guess sales are from older SKU and Lite models stock sold as well that explain big numbers.
While PS5 is continuosly going in and out of stock with barely any old stock on shelves.
Newer SKU still used the same chip so chip shortage don't affect them much.

StoneyYoshi42d ago

It has nothing to do with the chip itself. It's the silicon that the chips are made from which is having a shortage. Nintendo was smart and the reserved their silicon orders before everyone else prior to the shutdowns allowing them to have more silicon available for their production.
