The future of Project Cars 3 is electric

Neil writes: "The move from diesel and petrol to electric automobiles has been picking up speed in recent years. There's certainly plenty of excitement about the power a battery or two is able to produce and before long it'll be the electrifying surge of battery powered cars that are found on not just our streets, but also the race track. The future is in fact electric and that is found in the latest Project CARS 3 DLC pack - a pack that not only gives us gamers access to some of the fastest electric cars available today, but a whole host of additional content as well."

Thrill at the whine of electric.

The game is dead and it needs to be left in the dust. Horrible decision to go from simulation to arcade racing but keeping it under the original series name. Should have split it up like DiRT/DiRT Rally and Forza Motorsports/Forza Horizon. Those franchises realized you need to have two games in order to appease both audiences, PCars definitely didn't.

For reference, the peak player count on Steam for 3 is 704 with the lowest being around 40.

Project Cars 2 had a peak of 6,726 with the lowest being around 1,050 (which was around 24 hours ago)

You can see just how bad they messed up.

what was project cars 1's peak? 10,688. this tells me that the series is falling, and its not necessarily the change in format. the change in format actually should tell you that they saw the writing on the wall and the change of format for the series is to stop the bleeding. Clearly that failed.

I have Project Cars 1 and 2 in my steam library. I bought them both at full price. The first one was awful. I bought the second one thinking what i was hearing about it being so much better might be true, nope. still awful. I didn't give 3 the chance to let me down. I have to assume I'm not the only one.

All they had to do was keep improving on the mechanics, physics, etc.. Changing the type of racing entirely killed it further than any regular sequel could. The first two games have good reviews as well, so building on the first two games could have made it a 90+ rated game.

The drop from 1 to 2 was marginal compared to what happened to 3. 1.5 Million+ played the second on PS4, currently less than 100,000 have played the third. 3 sold 86% less during Week 1 in the UK on PS4 compared to 2.

its certainly a bigger drop, but i wonder how many people basically got tired of being burned.

Project CARS 3 could have been called Project CARS Sideways

Slightly Mad Studios founder and former CEO Ian Bell has disclosed that the maligned Project CARS 3 could have had a different name, which could have more clearly signposted the game’s intent.

This game was criminally reviewed by every loser on the Internet who was bitter and angry that this wasn't a complete simulation nor a complete arcade racing game, it was so well designed and the driving model was so much fun, much like drive club but slightly more sim if you wanted to adjust The settings and also slightly more arcade if you want to adjust those settings. One of the most fun games I've played in years. "Reviewers" just couldn't get this game a fair shake and had to badmouth it unfairly because they're too bitter and angry from still not getting laid.
