It’s been a rather long time since Nintendo has said anything about the likes of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, Bayonetta 3 or Metroid Prime 4. So, what’s up with these projects and when could we reasonably expect an update?
Metroid Prime 4 was completely scraped 2 years ago ,and started over from the ground up. The work that was scraped, wasn't working for Nintendo. They wanted something better.
3 years ago now though innit?
Yes, I think you are right.
A little over 2 years. They said they had restarted development at the beginning of 2019.
Or it and these other games are being built to be technical showcases that take advantage of the rumored hardware due by end of year.
E3 possibly, finger's crossed.
Metroid Prime 4 is what I want to see right now.
Bayonetta 3- Late 2021 Breath of the Wild 2- Mid 2022 Metroid Prime 4- Late 2025
I don’t see MP4 being 2025 that’s too far off and I would put Bayo 3 in 2022 or 2023. BOTW 3 early 2022 or late 2021.
Any possibility for a new AAA ip from Nintendo?
I worried about Bayonetta 2s development. However, I’m confident Metroid Prime 4 is in good hands.
Thats the one im least worried about. Bayonetta 3 was announced at the beginning of its development and Kamiya has been assuring us that development is going well, they just arent ready to show much. Platinum cranks games out without issue, historically. Meanwhile Prime 4 was rebuilt completely midway through development and Retro isn’t known for their speedy development. Game will be great though
3DS ports are coming first.
The only thing I wanted from Nintendo was a proper Metroid game. Housemarque already filled that void with Returnal. After playing that game, I don't think Metroid could ever get to that level.
Retro is a really great studio though. They haven't out out a bad game yet.
I know and I agree but is not going to be a mature, proper or next Gen Metroid game.
It could be that they are waiting to release a new console and have these as launch games but i kinda doubt it, but who knows maybe. Have to just wait and see unfortunately.
Microsoft and Nintendo have an insane amount of vaporware right now lmao. Meanwhile Sony just constantly pumping out highly rated games. Then there's multiplatform devs like CDPR LMFAO.
When theres new hardware to show it on.
I say Metrois it's their big bet for 2022, Bayonetta probably 2022 as well BOTW2? Who knows.
If the next Zelda follows what the previous did with releasing along side new hardware I see a lot of people being pissed. I don't see any of these games being released this year, Zelda will most likely end up being cross gen and the other 2 might not be on the Switch at all.
Not sure they are even releasing this year. What about Pikmin 4? I haven't touched my Switch in months waiting for these 3 🤷♂️ Nintendo went back to HUGE gaps between big releases, mostly poor 3rd party support, etc. The Switch has had: Some GOTY AAA titles: Mario Odyssey, Breath of the Wild, Smash Bros. Solid titles: Luigi's Mansion, Splatoon. Mediocre titles: Kirby, Yoshi, Pokemon Let's Go But mostly a ton of old ports for $60 instead of true sequels. I thought Nintendo was merging home/portable hardware to streamline development....somehow we ended up with 1 or 2 major releases a year 😒
My question is, what exactly is Nintendo working on BEYOND those 3. That's my biggest question.
Wait for e3.
