The Persistence Enhanced detailed and dated for Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PC

Neil writes: "When The Persistence made the move from the VR scene to full on console experience, we weren't entirely sure how it would come across. But honestly, it did alright for itself, providing a gaming experience that was well worth persisting with. Now though it's time for that same game to make the next step, jumping up to full-on next-gen gaming with an Enhanced edition for Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PC."

The Persistence Developer: “The Dualsense Is The Best Controller I’ve Ever Worked With”

Joining us this week is Stuart Tilley, Game Director over at Firesprite, developer of The Persistence – a terrifying survival horror roguelike set in the cold, unforgiving depths of space.

Tilley spoke a lot about updating The Persistence to next-generation consoles and how Sony’s PlayStation 5 – the Dualsense controller in particular – has allowed for a level of immersion he never thought possible.

This game is the most fun tense and satisfying vr games of this gen ..can't say anything about the flat screen version as I can't go back.

LOL. And we didn't know that yet? There are as many "Dual-sense is amazing" articles on this site as there are "XB GamePass is amazing" articles. It is rather sad on both sides of the fence really.

generic-user-name1409d ago

Yeah this developer should really personally apologise to you for sharing his opinion like that and forcing to you read it. He's so inconsiderate.

NeoGamer2321409d ago

Yup that developer has been living under a rock for the last 9 months.

Didn't both reading the article. The title said everything i need to know about the piece.

Gareth writes: "For all the visual upgrades, The Persistence Enhanced is still found delivering the same roguelike experience, and that will be the defining point as to whether it attracts players, or puts them off."

If you don't play this in VR you're denying yourself the full experience. This game was designed from the ground up for VR and presumably now has a flat version to bolster sales.

I played it on PSVR a few years back and it was great. On PS5 now it looks awesome, but without the headset it feels... fine?

How are VR games effected by PS5? Yet to get hold of a PS5 to try it out myself.

SullysCigar1445d ago

It depends on the game tbh. If the game has a dynamic resolution or unlocked frame rate, the PS5 boosts accordingly (games like Star Wars Squadrons, Dreams or No Man's Sky), but the best results are for the games that are directly patched, like Blood & Truth.

NMS has been fully playable on PSVR for ages now, but on OG PS4 it was blurry as hell, imo, and not much better on Pro. On PS5 it's a world apart and is as beautiful as you'd hope!

I liked the game demo on PSVR so I bought the retail version only to find some idiot thought it was a good idea to put in a large super bright, as in pinned to max, HUD on the side that is distracting as hell (in the demo it was smaller and more subdued). In a dark game like this it stands out even worse, they ruined the game atmosphere and I never went back to play it.
