Global Xbox sales after 22 weeks in the market:
Xbox 360: 2.79 million
Xbox One: 4.15 million
Xbox Series X/S: 4.53 million

Can't say what the og was doing in week 22 but it looks like the Series line is steadily trending upward.

EasilyTheBest1093d ago

That's impressive numbers especially as you still can't buy a Series X anywhere. I'm in the UK & have looked practically everyday on multiple sites.

Jin_Sakai1093d ago

In the US it’s been a lot easier to get a Series X than a PS5. At least for me.

Orchard1093d ago

@Jin_Sakai My local target has PS5 and no XSX - I'll trade you :P

gold_drake1092d ago

im in the uk aswell and they're everywhere where i live. the uk is big. it depends where u are. dont generalise

1092d ago
Pickledpepper1092d ago

@Curtain swoosh
Can you please tell me where in th uk you are, as I'm desperate to get a second series X for my son. I have 2 ps5s ( 1 for me and the other for my son) just struggling to get the series X.
Your help would be much appreciated.

EasilyTheBest1092d ago

Curtain Swoosh. Please tell me your kidding. Where in the UK can I get one?
I try every single day online. There's nothing in any shops anywhere it'll tell you that on their websites.
"Don't generalise" lololol

Orchard1092d ago (Edited 1092d ago )

@Robodrake

https://i.postimg.cc/nhmhQ1...

Target online stock is separate from in-store stock. 20 physical and 2 digital in-stock. Zip code & store name are in there if you want to go check with Target yourself.

p.s. If you're still looking for a PS5... try contacting Target support with the item numbers above, they can check all nearby stores. Your mileage may vary depending on the size of the city you live in etc.

aragon1092d ago

Canada here local store the source in east Kootenay British Columbia is sitting on ps5 digitals and Xbox series s. Hope no ones offended

Thanks for this. Im usually lazy when it comes to clicking on these sites.

We should let you handle the sales figures in the comments and Razzer for anything Digital Foundry, lol.

Eonjay1092d ago

This is actually good new if true. Remember the Xbox SX was selling under the Xbox One when it first launched. And truthfully, we don't have real Xbox numbers at this point so honestly, so I would discourage everyone from jumping to any conclusion right now. The best thing to do is to hope for leaked NPD data for any real comparison and even then we are working in a shortage caused by a pandemic.

Rude-ro1092d ago (Edited 1092d ago )

And these numbers are not accurate.

Xbox one in launch year, Ie November to end of December was 3.09 million units..
That was far less than 22 weeks..

Vgcharts truly needs to be put in check for their “numbers”.

And Xbox 360 was 7+ launch year and that too was a November release

https://www.statista.com/st...

TheProblem1092d ago (Edited 1092d ago )

Those numbers aren’t great at all

Series consoles launched in more countries than Xbox one which in turn launched in more countries than the 360.

Microsoft launched the cheapest console on the market and the gap between series s/x and ps5 is getting big.

By launching the cheapest console, in more countries and the fact the gaming market as a whole has increased since 2013 they should be doing much better

It’s a poor showing from MS

Xbox Series X|S Total Sales: 4,525,737
Xbox One Total Sales: 4,159,043

Xbox Series X is barely selling better than the Xbox one and we all know how bad the Xbox one was selling compared to the competition.

Also, can't use the "there is a pandemic" situation as the competition is selling better than its predecessor while in the middle of the same pandemic.

Orchard1093d ago (Edited 1093d ago )

"Also, can't use the "there is a pandemic" situation as the competition is selling better than its predecessor while in the middle of the same pandemic."

Except you can... because manufacturing exists, is impacted by the pandemic and the consoles are not identical, so just because company X can produce 10 mil in a month doesn't mean company Y can.

You summed it up well yourself on your other comment: "The pandemic is a real production situation and that's why everyone says "with pandemic". Don't know why would you like to pretend that it hasn't been a problem."

Both Sony & Microsoft are obviously selling every unit they have/can produce right now, in minutes in most cases.

Thundercat771093d ago

You didn't understood the comment.

The pandemic is real. That's not the point. The point is that using the pandemic to say "Xbox series is not selling better than its predecessor" because of the pandemic, is not righ because Sony is selling better than its previous console with the same exact problems that Xbox is facing.

Orchard1093d ago (Edited 1093d ago )

@Thundercat "with the same exact problems that Xbox is facing"

That isn't how manufacturing works.

Just because Sony can make X million units in Y days, doesn't mean Microsoft, or Nvidia, or AMD can produce the same numbers in the same time for their consoles/GPUs/CPUs.

It's not like Playstations and Xboxes are sitting on shelves in mass - both companies are selling every unit they can produce, in minutes in most cases. It was a lot harder to get a PS5/XSX at launch than it was to get a PS4/XB1 - and it's still hard 6+ months later.

dcbronco1092d ago

The reality is if there were 3 million more of each console available for sale right now they'd be gone in days. So to pretend the Series X isn't selling better than the One is ridiculous.

FanboysKiller1092d ago (Edited 1092d ago )

@Orchard
Imagine the console as the CEO and manufacturers produce lots of Phils and Jims , how would you react to it?

Orchard1092d ago

@FanboysKiller Not sure I understand the question :P

Thunder... wait a minute. You say that the Series is "barely selling better" than the XBO, but the estimates are showing a gap of 366,694 in favor of the Series. For comparison, the PS5 lead over the PS4 (for the same time frame) only amounts to 109,393.

So does that mean the PS5 is "barely selling better" than PS4 as well?

Thundercat771093d ago (Edited 1093d ago )

The PS5 is barely selling better than the PS4, a console that broke sale records and was selling very good. This means the PS5 is doing and having the exact same success and recently became the fastest selling console in US history.

Xbox Series X is selling barely better than the Xbox one, a console that we all know was selling very poorly. So the Xbox series is is just doing very poorly as its predecesor. If that is positive for you, well then you should celebrate.

EasilyTheBest1093d ago

Great point Darth, thundercat is in every thread downplay Xbox. I'm looking forward to his reply to your point..
PS5 & Xbox Series X is sold out everywhere in the UK.

Chevalier1092d ago

Are these numbers even verified to be true? As for Playstation yeah selling just barely above a system that turned into the 2nd all time selling home console is 'awful'. Just think about that for a second.

chiefJohn1171092d ago (Edited 1092d ago )

Got em lol he back tracking now
Thundercats talk out his rear too much. XSX is doing better vs XO than ps5 is doing vs Ps4

Eonjay1092d ago

Please don't fight over Xbox numbers. No one outside of Microsoft and AMD have any idea what the thing has sold. VGCharts was notoriously bad at tracking them last gen too. Its looks stupid watching you guys fight over the 'unknowable'

Mulando1092d ago

he does not know what he is writing about. PS5 is sold out, PS4 was sold out. So only production capacity is the difference. Those number can only be compared when the consoles are available everywhere and than we see which one sells better.
It is the same for xbox. The xbox one was available (in stores) from arround jan/feb 2014 (and sold out before), while the series x is still not available and sold out quite fast. So far, it seems that series x (and S combined) is selling better than xbox one and would even sell better with higher production capacity.

Chevalier1092d ago

@Eonjay

Exactly. When the AMD report showed how many chips were sold to Xbox it was easy to see VGchartz numbers are completely made up. They were overtracked by millions for Xbox and it wasn't even remotely close. They didn't even readjust their numbers.

PlayStation 5 Total Sales: 7,295,621
PlayStation 4 Total Sales: 7,186,228
https://www.vgchartz.com/ar...

The Series X/S is outselling it's predecessor by a greater margin than the PS5 is outselling the PS4.

Personally, I think the pandemic helped both consoles sell crazy amounts since people are investing more into videogames...but your last comment to me was literally how the pandemic is a real production issue. Why is it that Sony can have a production issue but MS can't? Sounds like bias to me.

darthv721093d ago

Oh it doesnt 'sound like'... it IS bias on the part of thunderkitten.

DJStotty1092d ago

I am starting to enjoy Thundercat's comments, even going by his own posts, he is admitting that the xbox series is on course to outsell and perform better than the xbox one.

I'm sure Microsoft will be happy enough with that

1092d ago
Chevalier1092d ago

@DJ

"perform better than the xbox one"

Wow. Selling better than the terrible Xbox One sales is an achievement now?! The Switch also outsold the Xbox One lifetime sales in what 2 years? Lol. That would be like Nintendo thumping their chest about outselling the Wii U.

Eonjay1092d ago

This is a silly comparison. The reason why Sony has sold a certain amount IS because it was able to produce that amount and nothing more. LOL. If Sony could have produced 3 million more units at this point it would be 3 million + ahead of the PS4.

darthv721092d ago

@robo... sorry but it is two against two. Keep in mind the digital PS5 is also its own sku and its sales get lumped in with the disc version. Just because the series S is the digital version and cheaper than the series x does not mean it isnt part of that product line. It is Series vs PS5 and in each there are two participants. Series S (digital) and Series X (disc) vs 5AD (all digital) and the 5DE (disc edition). Yes, i gave them those designations but it is still true there are two sku in each platform.

We dont know the ratio of series x/s just as we dont know the ration of disc to digital for PS5. And it really doesnt matter so long as units are selling. The more interesting bit of info that is next to impossible to determine is just how many of these units are actually in genuine end users hands and being enjoyed. I know i have one of each but I know there are millions who want them but scalpers are holding them for a kings ransom (figure of speech).

rlow11092d ago (Edited 1092d ago )

I would imagine since MS waited for the full rdna2, which held them up for some months, could be part of the problem. Since rdna2 is new I would speculate that it's harder to produce than existing modified tech. Plus combine that with chip demand going through the roof, and the problem of newer architectures yield rates not being as good. Again, speculation on my part but that's the point, nobody really knows outside of MS and AMD.

DJStotty1091d ago

@Chevalier

"Wow. Selling better than the terrible Xbox One sales is an achievement now?!"

It is selling better, so why would it not be an achievement? especially factoring in supply constraints currently, the gap would be a lot larger.

"The Switch also outsold the Xbox One lifetime sales in what 2 years? Lol."

The Switch is on course to outsell the PS4 lifetime sales also at the current sales rate, what's your point? Switch only needs to sell 35 million units to surpass PS4, in the same timeframe, switch is 13.3 million ahead. I would not use Switch as a basis of your argument, as you would need to throw comparisons with the PS4 sales in there as well lmao.

https://www.vgchartz.com/ar...

DJStotty1091d ago (Edited 1091d ago )

@Robodrake

"Holy shit. The ps4 was breaking sales records back in 2014,"

And the Switch has outsold PS4 by 13.3 million units in the same timeframe.

49 weeks on the market :

PS4 : 69.5 million
Switch : 82.9 million

I'd love to hear how you deflect and deny this one?

@Thundercat77

Your downplaying techniques are quite impressive at this point, Series is still suffering stock shortages, at this point the xbox one wasn't.

Bottom line is the Series is selling better than the xbox one, no matter what margin or how hard you attempt to spin it, pointing to an upward trend for Microsoft's consoles.

It's ok, you will survive...

Chevalier1092d ago

@Darth

Yeah and it's already been shown years ago on AMDs chip sales that Xbox was overtracked by millions and nothing was readjusted. The numbers are made up so not sure why you guys are going crazy believing these numbers. Nintendo and Playstation both keep up to date about their units sold. Xbox well we know they are tracking garbage metrics now so yeah...

Chevalier1092d ago

How are these numbers being verified? Just wondering since every wants to believe they're actual numbers. Xbox doesn't report their sales right?

darthv721092d ago

MS doesnt but retailers do.

Nineball21121092d ago (Edited 1092d ago )

Well, I can tell you that because of the shortages of PS5's, I decided to buy the first console I could get my hands on. I just got the XSX with the 24 months of Game Pass Ultimate.

So, the "pandemic" situation definitely caused me to switch this Gen. Not saying that I won't pick up a PS5 at some point (Sony still has so many "must-play" first party games), but for now I'm really happy with my Series X. It's a fantastic machine and there are so many games I can play with Game Pass since I haven't owned an Xbox until this point.

darthv721092d ago

I was in the same situation but got the Series S as it was what Gamestop had available. I did manage to get the PS5 (disc edition) a couple weeks ago. The Series X will be next on my to do list once there is another stock drop.

Nineball21121091d ago

@darthv72 Nice! Sounds like you are set. My plan is to eventually get a PS5 in the future as well.

You'll really like the Series X.

nickanasty2061092d ago (Edited 1092d ago )

I think its funny that you put it that way. At this point Microsoft and Sony are selling everything they have available. We are still at a point where you can't find either on shelves. Right now we are at a point where everything making it to a retailer is sold in a matter of minutes. Obviously if there was more output of actual consoles, there would be even more sales. Whomever puts out the most units will have higher sales in other words. We will wait and see what happens when you can just walk into any store and get a PS5 or Xbox Series before any sales numbers can be compared accurately. You also have to account that there is a silicon shortage which does impact manufacturing. All industries are hurting right now in this neck of the woods. Have you tried to buy a car lately? Maybe noticed the selection of cars are sparse and the prices are way higher? Couple of things for you to consider before writing off the pandemic as a cause for manufacturing issues. Microsoft also have more CU's on their die, so its more complex to manufacturer, which is another thing to consider. A good comparison manufacturing wise is trying to find a 3090 (more complicated to make) than a 3080, sure both the cards sell out, but the 3090 is harder to find and has more CU's as well making it more difficult to manufacturer. And considering silicon shortages, of course Microsoft has a disadvantage here since their chips are more difficult to create. Not saying playstation isn't more popular, because we all know it is, but those are just the facts.

waverider1092d ago

They still dont understand that the xbox one floped in term of sales... Barely selling more with a console that cost 299 and another 499 isnt that great. Selling 100k average week do the math...

darthv721092d ago (Edited 1092d ago )

your view of flop is very different than the rest of the world's view. WiiU (12m) is a flop. Dreamcast (8m) is a flop. XBO (50m) is not a flop. It is more than the Gamecube and og xbox (both were revered for their time) combined. And every unit sold was done so without the need to pad numbers like the 360 had.

So, like i said, your view is very different than others. If all you think to be a success is selling 100m+ then SNES, N64, PS3... are all flops. I highly doubt that.

DJStotty1091d ago (Edited 1091d ago )

@waverider

If Microsoft make an improvement on the previous iterations sales, then according to Microsoft it is not a flop.

You want to label it a flop, to fit your narrative, was Vita a flop then? That only just outsold WiiU.

Does that mean in it's current state we can label Series S/X and PS5 as currently being "sales flops" as they have yet to reach your target of 50 million?

If a console makes a profit, no matter how small, then it is not a flop.

Definition : " be completely unsuccessful; fail totally."

As far as i am aware, the xbox one was a successful console, regardless of sales. It outsold xb360, when you deduct the 3:1 ratio of RROD, so xbox one has outsold (playerbase) 360, and series has already outsold xbox one (outsold as of 22 weeks on the market)

Not sure why them kind of figures hurts your behind, but whatever you want to believe kid.

XBManiac1092d ago (Edited 1092d ago )

Two consoles... Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S are two very different consoles. They should have separated data. I don't think PS5 with and without BD reader need that separation, as both are really similar and games are exactly identical on both.
Same for Xbox One/One S and Xbox One X. One X is a beast... in 2021 and I prefer it to Xbox Series S, definitely.

Eonjay1092d ago

What about Switch and Switch Lite?

DJStotty1091d ago

Gameboy/gameboy colour/gameboy pocket/gameboy light

DJStotty1091d ago (Edited 1091d ago )

The question is, why are you so bothered they are combined? what does it matter?

They both play the same games, just at different resolutions/framerates.

PS4 and PS4 Pro have combined sales, same games different specs, do you think they should have seperated sales statistics too?

Adisoftcafe1092d ago

I can find a Series S anytime in Romania. Sometimes you can find a Series X. There is no way to get a PS5. The demand is huge.

XBManiac1092d ago

Same here, I find Xbox Series S at 299€ in shops and, worse, second-hand markets... by 200€.
