Dumb idea what if I don't want to be part of a subscription based platform just to rent one movie mind you a lot of movies that have come out recently are just stupid. Guess if I want to rent one movie I am either going to rent it on the XBox or try and find away to watch it free online or just buy it on blu ray.

Eonjay1101d ago

If you have plus this is just added as a bonus. Free bonuses upset people now?

waverider1101d ago

Only from Sony. They fear something that can overshadow their services, because 90% of news from microsoft are only about services. just look at n4g front page...

NeoGamer2321101d ago

@waverider
I can guarantee if XB announced something similar to this for XBL Gold that the first comment would be something like, "And when are they going to invest and get exclusive games instead a non-gaming feature for movies?"

To me, this is another benefit for my PS Plus subscription. There is nothing wrong with that! The more I get from the services I buy, the happier I get. Whether it be Netflix, Crave, Amazon Prime, MS GamePass Ultimate, PS Plus, PS Now or whatever. Keep giving me more!

Thundercat771101d ago

Free PS Plus bonuses upset Xbox fans 😂

Livingthedream1100d ago

@thundercat Nah, doubt anyone really cares about it there's so many movies services, that it doesn't really matter.

ScootaKuH1100d ago

I find it offensive that I'm being offered free stuff. Do they think I'm a charity case or something?! HOW DARE THEY! I want to PAY for EVERYTHING!!!! REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Or you could rent the movies on services like the Amazon or Apple TV apps on PlayStation. Just because Sony isn't renting a movie directly doesn't mean you can't rent a movie on PlayStation.

Christopher1101d ago

I mean, if you're only interested in one movie, then just get that one movie. I wouldn't get Disney+ if I was only interested in a single movie either.

But, this looks like they're 'advertising' their future potential streaming service by giving it to PS+ for free for a few months. I don't understand their plans. I thought they were going to make a deal with Netflix, which seems way more logical

Dumb idea, but Sony Picturew are one of the biggest in the movie industry. So, what's the problem with "free" movies or whatever will be?

gravedigger1100d ago

No, no. My post was referred to previous one whose member said it's a dumb idea. That's why i've said, "dumb idea, but Sony Pictures is one of the biggest in the movies industry. I think you get it. :)

ThePacemaker1100d ago

This is a bonus. If you don’t like it, just skip it. What a pessimistic mindset you have.

Muzikguy1100d ago (Edited 1100d ago )

4/20 was yesterday

Maybe you just misunderstood the idea behind this

Retroman1100d ago (Edited 1100d ago )

Dude, if you want to watch movies just buy amazon fire stick and download filelinked and Cyberflix or any movie Free app. No subscription all latest movies are absolutely Free!!! no need to worry about rental monthly payments. I've watched Avengers Endgame on my couch. Zack Snyder Justice League on my couch.
You can find any movie app and watch all in theater movies for Free!! .... I've been watching movies at home since 2013

Army_of_Darkness1100d ago

Having access to movies and games with my playstation plus subscription is a dumb idea??
Well call me bozoo the clown then cause I'm in!

ScootaKuH1100d ago

But...if you're already a Plus member and it's offered as part of that?

Edito1100d ago

Go rent in another service... or pay nothing to watch via PS+.

Not gonna lie. This doesn't at all appeal to me. Like fine if its there I guess but I doubt I'll even use it ever

gravedigger1101d ago

I'll bet you'll be watching some good movies. :D

brewin1100d ago

But I thought Sony was all about games first?! now that song is all about movies you guys are all on board with it it's pretty sad really

DothrakiSea1100d ago

@brewin

The wording of your comment points out how silly the entire thing was. "Games first" implies they dip their toes elsewhere, they are diversified (like any good business lol, clearly you don't invest or understand business). Not sure how adding a free service to A GAMING SERVICE makes you think the statement "Sony was all about games first!?" has changed.

Clearly games are the priority. No shit everyone is going to be on board with cool new free stuff.

Jeeze. Happy complaining!

Ninver1100d ago

Depends what movies are available. Right now I'm itching for some good old 007 amongst other old school gems. I'll gladly use the service if these are guaranteed.

VenomCarnage891100d ago

@brewin

If Sony were giving up on making new games in order for this new service to exist, then you'd at least have a point
