Even though Goldeneye got the brunt of the attention in terms of Rare's N64 products, Banjo-Kazooie was a stout title nonetheless. Keep in mind that Banjo-Kazooie had to compete with Nintendo's in-house darlings-particularly ones from the Donkey Kong universe-and held its own with ease. That's pretty amazing, considering that Banjo-Kazooie was an original intellectual property, with only character appearances in Diddy Kong before its N64 debut.
Making Banjo-Kazooie available for Xbox Live Arcade was a logical move for Rare and publisher Microsoft; star software from systems of the past typically does well when it comes to this DLC service. Software like this from before the Xbox era that makes its way to XBLA does even better in fact, as it keeps avid gamers from buying classic systems, or dabbling in illegal ROM exchanges via the internet.
