IGN writes- Gears of War 2, the big-budget follow-up to Epic Games' smash hit Gears of War, was released nearly a month ago, and we're guessing it sold quite well. But until the NPD Group releases its latest round of sales figures, we won't know for sure how the sequel stacks up.
For now, we have only Microsoft's weekly Xbox Live tracking to go by. As we reported yesterday, Gears of War 2 came in second place in Microsoft's list of the top games played while connected to Xbox Live. First place belonged to Bungie's stalwart shooter Halo 3. That order came as a bit of a surprise considering that Gears 2 was easily the most anticipated Xbox 360-exclusive game of the year.
