It's not very often that a first-person shooter franchise switches perspective to a third-person view, but that's what Volition and THQ have done with Red Faction: Guerrilla, the latest entry in the destroy-everything action series set on a futuristic Martian landscape.
We had a brief peek at the upcoming game at this year's E3, but Volition popped by the IGN offices recently to show it off in-depth, and I spent a good amount of time blowing the heck out of Mars.
In Red Faction: Guerrilla, you play as Alec Mason, a recent transplant from Earth who's trying to escape a troubled past. When Alec arrives on the red planet, he meets up with his brother Dan, who's promised to hook him up with a mining gig. But Alec soon gets more than he bargained for when he finds out that Dan is a member of the Red Faction, a guerrilla group that's fighting against the oppressive rulers of Mars, the Earth Defense Force. Some of you might remember the EDF as the good guys from the previous games in the series, but they've been corrupted by their new power, earning them scorn and rebellion from the local populace.
From GameWatcher: "THQ Nordic has announced that the remastered edition of Red Faction Guerrilla will be released for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on 3rd July."
