Sony also just invested $200m in Epic. So, Epic better be putting more Sony characters in their game.

Nathan Drake would be the safe bet, aesthetically and for practicality.

Sony also just invested $200m in Epic. So, Epic better be putting more Sony characters in their game.***

A tale of woe "Phil"/MS stupidity... Tencent bought 40% if Epic after MS dumped them as partners as they were the prev gen with the Gears series

for $330m ... The first thing they do is put Gears up for tender which has to be bought by MS

to stop their new partners [EA/Activision] from getting hold and making it Multi-plat.. Now MS has to put the Coalition [originally

***In May 2011, the studio was renamed Microsoft Game Studios Vancouver as it shifted its focus away from social games, instead working on Microsoft Flight and Kinect shooter game Project Columbia.[4][5] On July 25, 2012, Project Columbia and further development on Microsoft Flight were cancelled, with all 35 employees being laid off. On November 29, 2012, the studio was renamed Black Tusk Studios, and tasked with creating a new major franchise for Microsoft Studios to rival their popular Halo franchise.[7]

On January 27, 2014, it was announced that Microsoft had acquired the Gears of War franchise from Epic Games, and that Black Tusk Studios would take on the development of future games in the series.***

MS then bought an engine much used by Sony and Nintendo aka the Havoc Physics Engine promising to to keep licensing it.. However

***“We believe that Havok is a fantastic addition to Microsoft’s existing tools and platform components for developers, including DirectX 12, Visual Studio, and Microsoft Azure,” read the blog post. “Microsoft’s acquisition of Havok continues our tradition of empowering developers by providing them with the tools to unleash their creativity to the world. We will continue to innovate for the benefit of development partners. Part of this innovation will include building the most complete cloud service, which we’ve just started to show through games like Crackdown 3.”***

Tied their whole future of Win 10/DX12/ Azure around the Cloudgine Engine .. Cloudgine + Havoc/ Azure for PS 4/5 machines?? A winning combination.. Then

***Epic Games acquires Cloudgine***

Unreal Engine maker picks up cloud compute specialists who worked on Crackdown 3, Oculus Toy Boxin pops Epic and buys Cloudgine from under their noses.. lolol

Clue Fortnite etc all run on Cloudgine, Sony wasn't buy advertisement for their game characters..

So in CES 2018,

Sony showed GT Sport running in 8K [remember this], HDR 10+ with a MONSTER 10,000 nit of HDR LUMINOSITY [remember that], blowing Dolby Vision/Film's "PATHETIC" 4,000 nit clear out of the water.

In 2020, Epic show UT 5 running on the PS 5

using 8K textures [irregardless of the resolution] running the Tech Demo called "LUMEN in the land of the Nanites" which uses the LUMEN lighting engine.

All of a sudden Havoc is forgotten and all MS devs are chanting "US TOO".. As the Tencent hand tightens around MS/Windows horlicks. Sony gives the PC their old Decima Engine.. Decima is Europe .. Nice one Jimbo. Howay the lads

Next step Square, Tencent and Sony do a partnership investing in

***Tencent, Sony, Square Enix invest in cloud gaming company Ubitus***

CLOUD gaming company Ubitus [not Azure... Sowwy]..

2019.. Square was showing off their new engine

From LUMINOUS Productions called er the LUMINOUS Engine, slated [in the review] to be for an upcoming PS 5 game.

Project Athea

also uses Luminous. There they are showing the world creating in action.

There is Luminous showing Project Athea with the legend "Designed for Playstation 5"

Now don't get me wrong. I'm not saying these games/ engines/ online cloud facilities won't be coming to the inferior PC/XB/ Nintendo platforms.. What I am saying is when you do access them, Sony will be getting a cut awa Square and Tencent/Epic.

A complete reversal of MS's plans with Havoc.

BTW Tencent has patented a mobile PC

look out MS. lol

I suppose this will inspire those who have yet to partake in the Sony exclusives to do so. But considering what Fortnite has become, I think this cheapens these iconic characters. Maybe, maybe not?

KyRo34d ago

What Fortnite has become? Out side of the internet shitting on it, the game is still a monumental behemoth even now after losing players it's still pulling 6 million online players at any one time lol

Dirtnapstor34d ago

I'm not saying Fortnite is a failure by any means. Their BR is a spent formula at this point. I was a Save The World fan... really wished they had invested in that vs rehashing the same ole thing season after season.

Is it safe to say we won't see Deacon St. John showing up in Fortnite?

Abnor_Mal34d ago

Let what go? It was a joke, because there won't be another game, he's not legend enough for a sequel or Fortnite.

knightedHollow33d ago

shame since as a character he was more interesting

Edgelordsupreme34d ago

Only good games, not garbage.

knightedHollow33d ago

i thought this had more to do with good interesting legendary characters.

Not sure eitheer aloy or deacon deserve that after one game.
Id still go with deacon though.

Abnor_Mal33d ago

@KnightedHollow Exactly, I loved the game and defended it when it came out, but it did not get the love from critics and many gamers who had issues with the character or the game world and so called sparseness of the world.

I would not call Aloy a legend either after only one game, but she did fair better than Deek. Sony Bend will just have to take this rejected pitch loss on the chin and do better.

It's not like they are being shuttered, and I would Hazzard a guess that Guerrilla Games had to do better and did better when Killzone (a series I also love) did not get the spotlight and recognition as its contemporaries.

It is disappointing that there won't be a sequel to Days Gone, but the writing was on the wall as Sony never ever released sales data for the game AFAIK.

It's funny how many people, gamers and critics alike, shat on DG and wouldn't give the game the game a chance to fully blossom its story complaining about bugs and glitches. Yet many made excuses and defended the ship out CP for worse, going as far as saying they will stop playing until a few patches are released to make the game more playable. Now I'm seeing DG popping up in my recommended watch list on YouTube, and I can only guess its because there's soon to be a port. So now more people are willing to give thr game a chance, yet the likelihood of hearing them talk about the gameplay will be overshadowed by talk of specs..

Same can be said about Aloy and MLB, many are now giving games they claimed to dislike most likely because they're no longer exclusive to its original platform a first or second chance.
