Resident Evil Village director Morimasa Sato said the PS5 is an amazing fit for horror games due to the many tech features contributing to immersion. If he had to pick one, though, it would be the 3D audio.
I will certainly play this with headphones on!
Question: can two players watching the same games use 1mic each? Because the 3d audio is cool and worth the try
u mean 2 headphone users to experience the same thing? hmmmm. good question. try looking it up. this should help https://amp.reddit.com/r/PS...
In terms of 3D audio you can output to two people each hearing the same thing. If it’s split screen then I think that would need special support in game.
Ok Strange it's not possible, the one who's watching me play could just turn a second controller and plug the second headphone in it
i play a lot with headphones and this game seems a must for that.
I played the Maiden demo with the 3d pulse headset on the PS5, so I can fully appreciate just what Resident Evil Village director Morimasa Sato is saying. Every nuance is audibly incredible in the demo & it really pulls you into the immersion of the game & is also bloody terrifying in places. It's subtle, but if you take the time to fully appreciate what's been achieved, you can hear all manner of sounds coming at you from every direction. Somehow, you can pick up audio that's coming from above & below you, as well as creeping up behind you!!! Plus the rattling of chains, to the wet blood, slowly dripping from the ceilings & the wind blowing through a window. Then there is the actual audio cue jumps scare moments from the soundtrack itself. It's all supreme, top drawer stuff. I have this pre ordered & am very much looking forward to playing through this potential spooky gem.
I have the pulse headset and honestly, I havnt been all that impressed with the audio. Too hollow and echoing for me. My surround sound system sounds way better, and even then, Its the same as the last gen. The better haptics do improve gameplay though.
All these PS5 owners rubbing it in.
I can confirm what this man says is true as when I played the demo a few months back on ps5, there were times when the scenery looked real and I started feeling uneasy.
Do ya know what contributes even more to horror? VR. Any chance of a VR mode announcement?
3D audio and Dualsense
PS5 is literally the only place to play Resident Evil Village
Is it? The webpage suggests it is coming to PS4, 5, XB1, XSX, Stadia and PC. All joking aside, I'm pretty sure my PC is going to wipe the floor with the PS5 version... obviously.
Not only that the PC will have better 3D audio headsets than the pulse.
The newer sound blaster cards like the AE series had 3D audio since they were launched. My AE-7 has as well. New for consoles but not for PC, even some older sound blaster cards had them, been there done that lol. "The Creative Sound Blaster AE-7 makes use of a Sound Core 3D audio/DSP processor and uses a PCIe interface. ... This sound card uses the ESS sabre-class 9018 DAC, 127 dB DNR, and -120 dB 0.0001% – THD + N. It's also integrated with the Sound Core3D with the Dolby Digital Live / DTS encoding." It's kind of a shame the devs don't take advantage of the sound blasters tech, like they used to back in the day.
Don't shatter these fanboy dreams thinking they have the only 3D audio headset lol.
I didn't mean to, just wanted to lay some facts 😁 Because everyone always forgets where the tech comes from first 🙃🎮
Yep, indeed they do, the PC even has tech where you can actually smell the game your playing. Like a damp warehouse, fire etc.
My nr 1 wish for the moment is for sony to patch and expand on the audio capability/compatibility. For 3D audio you are limited to the jack on the controller, UAC1 USB dacs which are and have been a bugged output since ps4 and liscenced headphones. Fix UAC1 driver, add UAC2 driver, add support for audiodevices over bluetooth, would be cool if bluetooth 5 with LDAC codec was indeed supported, and enable tempest audio through all these interfaces + HDMI for people who plug their headphones to receivers or other dedicated devices, and say maybe even connect a dac via the the optical port on their TVs like I do. Just have it be a toggle in the menu with a disclaimer because headphone 3D audio outputted from anything but headphones would sound weird, but I think it should be relatively easy to implement and it really is needed. Audio is kinda half baked atm, sure HRTF profiles will be added on as we go, but I took for granted 3D audio would just work with wichever interface I wanted it to and there would be some more options to tweak but there really isnt. Cool seing speaker positions being there, thats a fun and neat feature.... but overall it is severely lacking.
