COG: March 2021 has come and gone, bringing with it a bunch of games that could be considered good or bad. Read on to find out which games fell in which category.
Starship Troopers: Extermination is continuing its early access period with a class system overhaul that will give players more options when it comes to pushing back the bugs.
VGChartz's Evan Norris: "Ultimately, Wrath of the Mutants can't compete with Shredder's Revenge or the better Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games out there. Still, thanks to its smooth controls, shallow-but-satisfying brawling, and diverse settings, it's a competent beat-'em-up. With more stages & modes, greater gameplay depth, and prettier graphics, it would begin to flirt with that next tier of TMNT titles. Even without, it's a mostly fun time, especially with a few friends fighting alongside you."
WTMG's Leo Faria: "My overall feelings about Phantom Fury are mixed. It’s far from being a bad game, mind you. There’s quite a bit to like about it, such as its Half-Life-esque presentation and expansive levels. With that being said, it’s not as over-the-top, and as a result, entertaining, as its predecessor, which featured better combat sections and more replayability. It does scratch a very specific itch. If you want to play something that vaguely resembles the original Half-Life in scope and gameplay, I think that Phantom Fury can satiate said niche."
Maquette PS5 was a nice surprise on PS+ and Kaze looks excellent, but the best of March begins and ends with Disco Elysium FC.
On the losers side, MLB continues to embarrass itself with the in-house production of their somewhat legendary franchise, RBI Baseball. Once upon a time RBI was a go-to baseball title. The days of cartridge gaming saw RBI Baseball as a sports gaming staple. Nowadays, it's the worst sports game in the business. MLB better pray that Sony doesn't get fed up with their bullshit practices and just drop the license, forcing them to develop in-house. Ofc they'd probably just choose some other sucker to make the game, but it'd be amusing to watch them scramble.
And Balan, oh boy. The game looks like an up rez'd PS2 game.
