while it never got a proper Pro patch, Id love to play Driveclub on the 5 with faster frame rate. Alas... it may never happen, unless Sony offers some FPS boost thingy as well.

I'm done with Driveclub, but I would like to get Driveclub VR.

Abnor_Mal1138d ago

is Driveclub even purchasable on the PS store?

All hail backwards compatibility

Abnor_Mal1138d ago

I think the argument that backwards compatibility is only a major asset in the beginning of a generation, which is the phase of thr current generation we find ourselves is still valid. There's not enough new games yet on the market to see if BC is all hailable, much less time.

I currently don't have a PS5 because I knew there would not be much out to warrant hunting down a system. Well before the console dropped I decided I would likely wait a year before getting a system, by that time more games would be out and the ones that came out with the system will be dirt cheap. Now due to the pandemic and scalpers its even more difficult to get a system, so now I intend to wait over a year to maybe two. I will just continue playing my PS4 games on a PS4, and when I eventually get a PS5 the luster of BC will have dulled. That will likely be the same with many other people on any platform, because more new game will be available so the reliance on older generation games will be less and less.

Great games, like music and movies, never really go out of style. Hell... I still play me some 2600 now and then. Its what I grew up on.

Abnor_Mal1138d ago

@darth @Fallen I never said the games go out of style, but like you said you play them from time to time, why because there's other games that you could be playing, newer games and the want to play older games become less and less.

I never said that the games become irrelevant but that the luster of them starts to dull in comparison to newer games, and those older games are relegated to periods of nostalgia.

I get what you're both saying, so please don't make me out to say that there is no value in older games and they shouldn't be played. If I could get another copy of Spider-Man2 and a PS2 I'd be playing it right now, for some classic Spider-Man web swinging compared to the PS4 one I was just playing before I made this post. But as the generation progress the previous generations games get put to the side in favor for what is new. Whats the new tech, how will it power the new games, what will the engines be capable of, its comparable to being a kid in a candy or toy store. Of course we'll go back to what's familiar from time to time, but it whats new we will be more excited for.

I mean thats why we're all here, for the new games. Imagine if N4G was a site for only retro games, meaning any gen thats not thr current, I'm willing to bet that many of us would not be here or as often as we are. There would be less news traffic and less viewership of the news featured.

Side note: Just out of curiosity Darth what 2600 games are you still playing and how often.

I loved the 2600 and have all the compilations for more modern systems but the ones I still enjoy are ones I have to play on a 2600. Mainly superman, raiders of lost ark and spiderman. All really simple but I try to improve my speed of playing through them.

There’s never should be a point where the playability of games from a previous generation become irrelevant. I’ll play any game at any point as long as it’s available on my system of preference

As someone who was lucky enough to snaffle a PS5 at launch and who has played every game on this list, In my humble opinion they missed out the most improved PS4 to PS5 game on their list.

For me, it's by far Days Gone. It's an instant night and day improvement in terms of visuals, the game now has a much cleaner presentation, but where it really shines the most, is in the improvement to the 60fps frame-rate. It's a real game changer, so much so, that at times it genuinely feels like your playing a whole new title.

Whereas before, on occasion, the frame-rate felt like you were trudging through treacle, the change to 60fps is as smooth as silk.

I'm loving saints row the Third remaster on ps5 with the option to unlock the frame rate I wish more Devs allowed that option

I can't believe this is their first title, I really hope it sells well so they can keep bringing out great games, exclusive or not!

Preorders were high so they already started their next game from what I’ve read.

That's awesome, we might be on the brink of a whole untapped side of the industry with it's own personality and quirks, very exciting!
