Apex Legends deemed “unplayable” on Nintendo Switch by disappointed fans

Apex Legends has finally launched on the Nintendo Switch, but the port hasn't gone down well with fans, leaving them disappointed.

Well, Nintendo users expect companies to be able to conform to Nintendo's limitations because it's never Nintendo's fault it's everyone else because, well, Nintendo.

Despite all the crap hardware Nintendo has shamelessly selling people over the years, having a game run poorly is always the fault of the developers.
Either it's not well optimized for the Switch, meaning it was most likely rushed and serves primarily as a cash cow (wow f2p games being shameless cash grabs what else is new) or they did not notice in time that this port simply doesn't work on this platform, in which case they should have never promised it nor released it.
It can run warframe extremely well and it can run fortnite too. You only need more and more horsepower if you have no clue what you're doing.

Something port beggars haven't understood from day one. Most big games miss the Switch for a reason, and that's the fact that the Switch is simply not a powerful console.

Tbh I don't plan on trying this on switch. But there is a reason the likes of warzone or any cod game is not on the switch. It's to weak for titles like that imo.

Even fortnite is not a great experience on the switch.

I actually constantly have to debate whether to play Fort on PC for the RTX features, PS5 for the fact that I'm not matched with keyboard and mouse players, or Switch where gyro aiming is enabled and tbh a lot of the time I pick Switch aha. Gyro aiming is just sooooo good and I have no idea why you can't do it on PlayStation but you can on Switch with a pro controller in the same lobbies as PlayStation players

Not sure why switch is the only bloody console this gen where gyro aiming is normal but I really wish it wasn't :c

Nah the ps5 version came out at launch. It's 4k/60 or 1440/120. The 120fps is super nice aha

To me that BS, if games like Warframe, Doom Eternal, Overwatch and Paladins manage to run well on the Switch then APEX should not be an exception, that's just a lazy port done by EA.

Apex is more demanding than all of those but maybe Doom and Doom is cut down heavy. But the thing is apex is online on top of everything and open map. Warframe ran 60fps on base ps4 on launch and always was known as a not very demanding game back then on PC. It looks good but isn't that demanding. Paladins isn't remotely a demand and Overwatch runs 30fps on switch and has some serious lag issues.

Bullcrap! Apex legend is not that demanding, in fact I think overwatch and Doom are way more demanding that APEX, It's just a matter of optimaztion when you port a game, EA is lazy AF.

Nintendo has given companies enough power to work with and a fantastic online service for games like this that's second to none, Apex should be able to work flawlessly on the Switch if EA wasn't so lazy. While it's true that is not at the same level with base Xbox One and the PS4 this console has proven time and time again that many games can be ported is they are optimzed correctly, bigger and more demanding games have manage to be ported there and APEX is not into the category of triple A 4K 60fps photorealism game...this is just lazy effort and there is nothign else to add.

No, it's really not. Terrible graphical fidelity, a very low resolution, the game cannot maintain 30FPS even not during gun fights, crossplay is an unmitigated disaster due to the lag and framerate drops. It technically is "playable" but no in reality its not. This is coming from someone who has put 1100 hours into the game on Xbox and was so very excited for the game on Switch. It's a bad port. I'm sure it will get cleaned up somewhat, but it's just bad. What's worse is I spent $40 to get the Champion Edition of the game... let me tell you, I've regretted that since 6pm EST March 9th, 2021.

Since when 30fps is unplayable on a handled console...people used to play 30fps on their console for at least 2 gen and suddently it is not acceptable on a portable...people becoming more and more @^#^%##.

It's a 25 gb download on switch. Why even play on there. The switch just isn't suited for it. Theres plenty other better games to play.
