I want all of them on PC. Every. Single. One.

But that's probably never going to happen. So if I had to choose then top of my list would be Bloodborne followed closely by Persona 5. Dreams would be a great fit on PC with the incredible communities of content creators in PC land.

Tech51148d ago

whatever games they bring i'm sure there will be gamers for it. i thought they would be bring more Decima games but who knows after Days Gone.

But even before Jim, Layden already mentioned the possibility of some Playstation games being ported to PC, to lean into their install base. Dreams would certainly be a candidate.

But many forget, they don't want just hardware and software sales. They want accessory sales, mtx sales, and percentage cuts. So they still will value varying exclusive software, especially marquee software, to attract users to Playstation and adopt into their ecosystem. I would not put it past them to wait PC users out, because while the additional software sales are a benefit, they really want to tempt PC users into the ecosystem. Get more plus subs too.

Literally 80%+ attach rate to plus with PS5 owners

As long as it has been rumored, I'm surprised Bloodborne hasn't showed up before Days Gone

HAD TO REPOST. ONLY POSTED PART OF MY REPLY

neutralgamer19921149d ago

Dreams would benefit the most in my opinion especially with cross play features. Bloodborne is most wanted but I think Sony may keep it exclusive. TLOU1-2 good possibility

As a playstation fan I want these games on pc so sony can generate more revenue which in return will help grow the studios and may even acquire more talent. So 12-18 months after releasing on ps they can release on pc and again charge full price

but the reason I don't think it will happen with a lot of PlayStation 5 games is because Sony wants to sell PlayStation 5S right now they're doing some of PlayStation 4 games because it's last generation anybody who wanted to play them on consoles probably already did

Especially with PlayStation 5S being not available it is in their benefit to just simply keep building the library so when more consumers have the system they will buy these games so they don't see a lot of benefits in releasing them on PC. Which I agree with

Tech51148d ago (Edited 1148d ago )

"Dreams would benefit the most in my opinion especially with cross play features."

particularly i think it needs to find a dedicated community on pc. which may be complicated and still is on pc. even with existing tools. just in the past few months pc game engines have been making big investments simplifying their tools even further for indies. to also keep up with hardware advancements. but anyways If it's among the games landing on pc then it is what it is. and who says no to playing more games.

neutralgamer19921148d ago

Yes but I think Sony strategy is simple they have used some of these IP's during PlayStation 4 and now these games being on PC doesn't really hurt PlayStation 4

on PlayStation 5 they not only want to sell the hardware they also want to sell subscription services so it benefits them greatly to have actual exclusive content

QSPR1148d ago

I can't wait to see TLOU2 with mods, make Joel with Nails face and smack that face with a golf club.

The_Sage1148d ago

Just buy a Playstation. Problem solved.

MadLad1148d ago

Well when Sony already announced they're looking at PC as a legitimate platform for their games going forward, there's really no reason you HAVE to, eh?
I don't mind waiting a year or two to play it on my preferred platform. Especially if they are proper ports, thus future proofing the games when better and better tech comes out over the years. Potentially mod support.

zackeroniii1148d ago

when you get 1 or 2 playstation exclusives for PC every few years and gamble with waiting to see if they will even be coming to PC off of wishful thinking, I will be enjoying every single top rated PS exclusive on my Playstation. you people hate on consoles AND still want the games that come out on them on PC?? how does that work??

MadLad1148d ago

@zack

Am I wrong that Sony, themselves, just announced that many more PS4 exclusives will be coming to PC going forward?
I think you're confusing "wishful thinking" with "I literally just went by the public word of Sony execs".
And I owned a PS4 Pro. I sold it when I confirmed I was in for a PS5. So I'm not a "console hater". I play on PC, but I also get the consoles to either play with friends, or grab a game I may not want to wait for. Though, at the end of the day, if said game comes to PC, I will eventually grab it on there as well.

Maybe if you can move past your own personal bias, you'd be able to wrap your head around the idea that you can appreciate multiple platforms, and their games, while still holding a preference for one.
That starts by not lumping entire groups together because you choose to let the random jackass online get under your thin skin.

Shiore2u1148d ago (Edited 1148d ago )

@zackeroniii
Just because you may like a piece of software doesn't mean you HAVE to care much less have any desire for the hardware it's running on. There's nothing special about the hardware in relation to the software. It's far more preferable to take an interest in a piece of software without all the corporate proprietary cons associated with it i.e, increased pricing for no reason, limited performance and visual control, paywalls to access my own internet for content I already paid for, et cetera.

I can't speak for everyone, but the only reason I hate on consoles lately is because their fanboys are basically paypigs for suits, and their reactions are quite humorous when reminding them of that.

SierraGuy1148d ago

Good job ted how was mexico?

MadLad1148d ago (Edited 1148d ago )

@Sierra

I spent a few hours making sure my lovely daughters were taken care of, and then hopped right back over to Mexico to aid my constituents, who I love so much. Much like America, and thinly veiled classism.
Which was totally the plan all along, and not a desperate reaction to the backlash I was receiving prior.

Please .... please vote for me in the primaries. I'm pulling 2%, and the wife says if I don't at least get that to 10%, I get the plunger again. I .... I just can't do the plunger again.

PC will get those games after they have been worn out. PC people will wait.

Father__Merrin1148d ago

There always hungry for games because they don't have any

rpvenom1148d ago

I think this model of launching as ps exclusive first.. few years later when no one is buying the game anymore on ps.. release it on pc to build sales again on a title that otherwise is not selling much anymore.. most gamers aren't willing to wait.. will play on ps if it's a highly anticipated title and so it still has enough to entice someone to buy ps, while allowing the developers to maximize sales while remaining exclusive for a time and still not go to xbox.

anast1148d ago (Edited 1148d ago )

@rpvenom, I would say most PC gamers wait or there wouldn't be such a cry to release these games on PC.

RaidenBlack1148d ago

Killzone. (Shadowfall best bet. Preferably? 2 & 3)
Never forget the FPS when thinking of PC.

Father__Merrin1148d ago

Il be honest I don't want any of them on Pc. But some of them could make sense like Dreams or multilayer focused games using cross play etc

It's a different landscape so everyone might need to get used to it now

Sieg1148d ago

Why don't you want the games that you like accessible to other players? They're just games and Sony just want our money as a business.

RazzerRedux1148d ago

"There always hungry for games because they don't have any"

Nah, that's just what you tell yourself. PC gamers have more games than consoles. The vast majority of all new games are on PC and that has been the case this entire past generation. But since PC gaming isn't tied to generations like consoles are, "backward compatibility" is barely even a thing. That makes the library of older games available gigantic.

How about all those PS1 and PS2 games that don't work on PS3, PS4, or PS5? They work fine on PC. I have PS1 and PS2 discs that I can pop into my PC and play through emulation. Completely legal.

PC also have games that are not available on consoles. Last year's runner up in the number of GOTY awards? Nope. It wasn't Ghost of Tsushima. It was Hades. Not available on consoles (yet). Just one example but there are plenty more. The entire strategy and simulation game genres are practically PC exclusive.

PC gaming is massive. Sony knows this even if you pretend otherwise. And that is why PC gamers are getting more and more PlayStation games.

PlayStation Doesn't Need a Dedicated PC Store Launcher

With all the PlayStation games that are now coming to PC, is it time for Sony to release a dedicated PC launcher?

No, and they already solved any need with the overlay that's coming.

Vits2d ago

Unless they are trying to kill their recently created PC business, I would advise against opening a dedicated PC store. It's an extremely hard endeavor, and people, in general, are very comfortable with Steam. Even Epic, with their billions of dollars invested, is still struggling to find a foothold, and they have Fortnite.

just_looken1d 16h ago (Edited 1d 16h ago )

Money is one thing security is another but again millions have 0 knowledge past 2020.

Epic store for years struggled with a shopping cart/account theft/credit card theft

Rockstar launcher/store to this day over 5 years later still has horrific user interface security flaws lost account's and stolen CC

Then you got that activision need phone number oh we lost it launcher

The crown jewel is the ea launcher/store ea app 3 yrs old still has hundreds of threads were people lost games/accounts/game access or just straight up crashes.

Edit" Oh ubi launcher were you buy a game that may or may not be there again or work and the launcher 5yrs old still has no 4K support if you launch it on a 4k screen there is a high chance it will just crash.

ocelot072d ago

Can tell who ever put this together is not all that clued up on pc gaming.

It's just a known fact. The PC gaming community prefer Steam and Steam alone. They don't like different launchers. I personally don't mind them. But majority just stick with steam. Hence why EA and Ubisoft went back to on releasing on steam and why Microsoft release games on steam as people hated buying from the windows store.

The only other launchers that I imagine are doing ok is GOG due to being drm free and epic games due to the free games every week. Sony shouldn't release any sort of pc launcher n

Nitrowolf22d ago (Edited 2d ago )

It literally says in the OP that PC gamers don't like multiple launchers lol. It even mentions Steam being the go to for gamers

Tacoboto2d ago

Title: "PlayStation Doesn't Need a Dedicated PC Store Launcher"

N4G: "Can tell who ever put this together is not all that clued up on pc gaming"

When you don't even read the headline...

ocelot072d ago

I read it and had a brain fart. As read the title then this "With all the PlayStation games that are now coming to PC, is it time for Sony to release a dedicated PC launcher?"

So I hold my hands up on that mistake. Rest of my comment still stands.

Giblet_Head1d 16h ago (Edited 1d 15h ago )

Steam and GOG are highly preferred because of the rich feature set. Ubisoft, Rockstar, EA, Epic etc have all set a precedent over the years for customers to instinctively expect individual publisher launchers to be so extremely half-assed that the majority simply don't want to bother dealing with what is almost an inevitable disappointment by comparison to Steam or GOG. Those publishers and their inaction or general disinterest to improve have effectively ruined any future adoption to be taken seriously.

Einhander19722d ago (Edited 2d ago )

This is just another ridiculous double standard article.

It's like how Microsoft can spend 20 years of making nothing but gaas and live service style games to sell microtransactions, dlc and subscriptions and get praise for doing it, but if Sony wants to make a single game like that every website under the sun is writing articles saying how Sony is anti-consumer or whatever.

derek1d 22h ago

Yep, huge double standard look at the tortured reaction to the ps5pro, websites hyperventilating like Sony is forcing people to buy it.

just_looken1d 16h ago

Wait my xbox from 2004 has avengers gaas on it? wow your so smart

m$ Gaas started with the other companies like sony

Gamepass yes they are deep into that but its still a huge money saver sense you do not own your games then get a service like that.

Now there pc xbox launcher that is trash for years now

With Larian Out Of The Picture, Will The Baldur's Gate IP Be In Safe Hands?

If anybody's gonna mention BioWare, then look at Archetype Entertainment, they're the new BioWare
or else
Obsidian is still a good choice but not independent anymore.

anast5d ago (Edited 5d ago )

No, WoTC is pivoting to mobile. They can use Larian's work to justify DnD Go and everyone will accept it.

RiseNShine5d ago

Short answer, nope. Long answer, f*ck nope.

robtion4d ago

Correct answer. Most people don't realise that the companies that are still making good games using common sense and a customer focus are generally not American. They are from Poland, Belgium, Japan, or other countries that have not yet become completely corrupted by 'extreme capitalism'.

Before you down vote me into oblivion I am not anti-american. I just don't like greed and corruption which unfortunately seems to correlate with power.

I would guess the next Baldurs gate will probably be filled with GaaS.

RiseNShine2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

This is simply not true, probably the most capitalistic company in the world is Ubisoft right now, actually claiming that we have to get used to not owning games and asking 130$ for the ultimate edition of star wars outlaws with paywalled day one exclusive DLC, and they are from France, which is a socialist country with all kind of public services for everything, so it's not something exclusive to America or directly related to highly capitalist countries.

Of course, communist countries like China don't have problems like this, since workers don't have rights to strike since 1982 and unions are affiliated to the national government, so you'll never hear of any labour rights issues on these non-capitalist countries, they simply can't make their voices heard on their working conditions, neither by strikes or independent unions, that's better for you i suppose.

Christopher5d ago

Honestly, we're talking completely new engine and none of Larian's built-in stuff with regard to environments and the like that they had from their past divinity game. No one is going to have that just ready to go. So, they need to shop for a dev studio that has a past game that shows what they want.

Obsidian doesn't have that, maybe the closest being Dungeon Siege 3 or Pillars of Eternity, but those are very basic, not as open, very little environment related and altering capabilities. So, we're talking a step way back on what Larian delivered. Zero scene experience to line up with what was done in BG3. Okay conversation tree designs, but still needs more complexity.

inXile has Wasteland 3 as a base model engine, and I think that's better than Pillars of Eternity from Obsidian. But, still needs to be more open world, more environmental effects, and a much heavier rules set adaptation. But, not a bad overall engine as a base, but still a ton of work. Zero scene experience to line up with what was done in BG3. Needs a ton of work on that entirely.

Tactical Adventure did the Solasta game. Really good and more accurate as far as 5e rules than BG3. But, again, if the expectation is similar to what made BG3 a big hit, engine isn't designed for moving the camera, is a bit outdated in graphics, doesn't have in-game scene elements, and needs much better writers/voice actors.

Owlcat of pathfinder games is another choice, even though they've recently moved on to WH40k licensed games. Again, though, the engine is the biggest issue here to match up, but it's a much better option overall than Tactical Adventure. Another question is writers/story telling, as much of their overall story telling bits are very limited with a lot of random worldbuilding elements that are just +\- of some attributes.

TBH, no matter who takes over, it's just not going to be like BG3 much like how BG3 isn't at all like BG1/2. And BG3 was so successful because of how much Larian was able to put in with their engine and how focused they were on players having ridiculous control over the story being told. I just don't see the next BG being the same and depending on what it is, it might be good but I'm not as big of a reach as BG3. It's way more likely players are going to go into BG4 (or its spiritual successor if it moves away from Baldur's Gate and into Neverwinter or something like Plansescape) expecting much of what is in BG3 with more options, new and older characters, and the same level of control over what they're doing. If it doesn't have that, regardless of who makes it, it won't be as successful, IMHO.

exputers4d ago

Yes, I completely concur.

As good and talented as inXile and Obsidian are in their own specific way of making their particular games, none of them have Larian's attention to detail, dynamic worlds, and reactivity, so even if they end up making a new Baldur's Gate, it's going to be a significant step-down in terms of gameplay if not narrative.

CrimsonWing695d ago

Probably not, but maybe… just maybe…
