Sifu is Sloclap's follow-up to Absolver and it's due out this year for PC, PS5, and PS5. Here's what you should know.
GB: "With this feature, we take a look at 15 of the most addictive games that you can try right now on the PS5."
All playable March 5.
“Sifu” is the perfect PS+ game for me. I’m not sure I’d like it so I’d never buy it. But I would like to try it.
Sloclap is closing the book on Sifu with the final update now available on Nintendo Switch, and the reveal of the studio's third title.
The developer did a great job creating a martial arts game with situational attacks, breakable objects, weapon fighting, etc. Not perfect but hitting all the right notes.
Can't wait to see what they do next. A side view fighting game would be awesome. Most fighters today from mortal Kombat and Street Fighter haven't changed their core fighting much and have become stale. Just added light effects with the hits and other modes. But not improved the fight engine. Sloclap has a combat engine that is very good to turn to a fighter next.
They've honestly given this a great deal of support post-launch. Awesome to see they showed that level of care in their project to keep updating it like that. Haven't played it yet, personally. But, their commitment to this title certainly has my attention on them as a studio. I definitely plan to pick it up at some point.
This could quench my beat 'em up thirst!
"The announcement trailer shows a seemingly rapidly ageing fighter as he punches his way through hallways, Oldboy style,..."
I said the same the day it was announced that the hallway fight reminded me of thr movie Oldboy. Seems that many agreed with me then, and now an article is describing the sequence in the way. I wonder if that was the intent of the developers.
The idea of dying and coming back to life but age excellerated, is a cool idea. Knowing that you have a finite amout of deaths before old age make you incapable of fighting any more. A few games coming out are using a time loop, Deathloop, Returnal, 12 minutes, and Sifu to name a few off the top of my head, I hope the idea doesn't become stale too quickly from being over used. Not now of course but if more game continue to use the concept it be get worn out fast.
Finally, when I think of Pak Mei (Pia Mei) I never think of Kill Bill V.2, but rather Fist/Clan of the White Lotus.
It’s coming on PS5 twice so you know it’s good.
Liked this showcased demo. Reminds me of movie Oldboy in one scene where is a fight in narrow passage.
Old Boy and The Raid....looks like almost Teken... But not.
