Prepare for the latest Call of Duty season with a recap of everything you need to know before launch and file sizes for both Black Ops Cold War and Warzone updates across all platforms.
I just don't understand where it is coming from. It's only one map ffs. Where else is the space from? Sound, weapons, characters? That can't be, other games don't have this problem.
They don't optimize the game or the updates because they rather pay the devs to make battlepass skins. Cold War is the buggiest cod i have seen in a while. Xclusive ace did a video about the lag and latency in multiplayer and he concluded it was because of SBMM. He says in older games they looked for the best match based on ping but now they search based on the best skill matchup the algorithm can come up with so you can get put in a game with shit latency even though it's a dedicated server. Every update seems to break something else.
I guess they’re going to be sailing us keys to unlock the game you installed in the HDD/SSD like the PC 🤦🏿 🤷🏿 Whatever happened to full games in the physical version, now you have “games patches “ close or bigger than the game day one
Hell at this rate, PS5 won't be able to handle the next big update after this one either. Activation really needs to figure out compression techniques, because there is no reason for this kimd of bloating.
I really wish I could choose not to download Warzone on the PC version. They finally gave us the option of choosing specific components to download, as opposed to downloading everything. But it only goes as far as "Do you want single player AND multiplayer? Or only one?" and that "multiplayer" is a package deal. You can't download just the standard multiplayer stuff. I'm not sure why...
It's really frustrating, and Activision needs to find some way to compress things better. I know it's been a theme of past console generations for the games to start taking up more and more space, but Activision is taking it WAY too far.
Not to mention the concern that the next-gen consoles so far have left way too much to be desired in terms of storage space. Considering the ballooning size of games nowadays, there's no excuse for the consoles to come in less than a couple terabytes of usable storage. SSD storage is cheaper now than ever before. We're no longer living in a world where it costs hundreds of dollars for significant storage. Manufacturers need to not cheap out on this stuff.
They must have changed it, but if you Google "change install warzone", the highlighted result is a numbered list of how to do it, and it says, "Uncheck the content you wish to uninstall. (WARZONE CANNOT BE UNINSTALLED.) Campaign. Multiplayer. Special Ops. Survival. Select Confirm." (capitalization for emphasis)
Unfortunately I wasn't able to check if it changed because I can't actually find Modern Warfare on Battle Net. Only Black Ops 4 and Cold War. Not sure what's going on there. But to clarify, I am talking about Modern Warfare, not Black Ops Cold War. Just in case that needed clarification.
Edit: Hilarious. Modern Warfare is now basically accessed from "Warzone" on Battle Net. I tried installing it just now and it still has the issue. I can't install it without installing Warzone. So I'm not sure what you're talking about unless Cold War is different.
@jairusmonillas is just a fanboy who likes to troll. Don't feed the troll.
The logical answer here would be, all next-gen consoles suck for storage. One has proprietary expensive drives, and the other one has no expandable storage right now and no cold storage options.
That's right change the goal post. Last time I checked the ssd for series x cost 220 which I'm pretty sure of since I bought one and the ps5 and series x cost 499. Not sure where you went to school but those ARE NOT the same price. I understand you can't argue facts so you need to inflat your point but just stop it makes you look like a ridiculous fanboy.
even if with 500gb it can still install warzone unlike PS4 that have stupid limitation it needed 2x remaining space to install games something that i hope they get rid in PS5 but sadly it still there.
They already went over this, it's tied to how PS5 does backwards compatibility.
Xbox allows developers to keep using the Xbox One SDK (XDK) and access the new horsepower / increase the framerate etc. To do the same changes on PS5 they have to write code / recompile to use the PS5 SDK - a lot more work that most developers won't be willing to do.
Here's my issue with that, Warzone is a GANG buster for Activision Blizzard, seriously look at their earnings call. Its ridiculous that even almost half a year out that team has not formally patched the PS5/ Series X/S versions to natively support it. Even the Series X version isn't being maxed, its using old ass code without even doing basic upgrades every other developers has done
@Razzer Correct, I'm referring to the fact they (semi, not fully native) enhanced it for Xbox Series and not for PS5. The reasoning was that XS was 'cheaper' (in terms of dev cost) to do.
Disgusting tbh, I uninstalled warzone from PS4, have full game only. I Have it on PC but barely play it now. Only if a friend wants to as it's cross play etc.
But the size and there's updates so often that are huge in size.
I wonder if the game even has compression. because it sounds like it does not.
Activision Board room "Lets make it so big, that people won't be able to install other games unless they delete ours, the pain to redownload it and reinstall will be such a incentive not to, theyll just keep playing, and thats more cha-thing for us!"
miss the days when games were COMPLETE ON DISC. this is getting ridiculous. devs put the bare minimum on the discs and you have to basically download the entire game day one just to play it. dlc is ridiculous with how big these files are. bs practices.
I've always felt these games were at least slightly overrated. Apparently, they sell so well that Activision thinks they're worth limiting how many other games one can have...or buying additional HDD space to compensate. To that I say good day. If I'm going to waste that much space on a game, it had better be god-tier...and I'm of the unpopular opinion that CoD games aren't that.
Why does this game need the space? I have 8 new games in the space just COD takes up alone. It's not even open world and it's a last gen game. They have no excuse. They must have the worst compression in the business
lol the fuck. what game, that looks like warzone and plays like warzone, warrants a 500 gb size. the game does not look out of this world. so what is it? how stupid is that
Activision needs to get their shit together and optimize this game. If IO Interactive was able to cram 3 games into one and occupy minimal HD space so could Activision.
Please note that the Season Two update will have a download size of approximately 10.5 – 26.5 GB for owners of the full version of Black Ops Cold War, and 16.2 – 20.8 GB for owners of the free-to-play Warzone, who are up to date with the latest updates on either (or both) games.
Black Ops Cold War Update Sizes
PlayStation 5: 18.0 GB
PlayStation 4: 10.5 GB
Xbox One Series X / Xbox One Series S: 26.5 GB
Xbox One: 15.3 GB
PC: 13.7 GB
Warzone Update Sizes
PlayStation 5: 17.0 GB
PlayStation 4: 17.0 GB
Xbox One Series X / Xbox One Series S: 17.9 GB
Xbox One: 17.9 GB
PC: 16.9 GB (Warzone Only) / 20.8 GB (Warzone and Modern Warfare)
Way to big in my opinion. These sizes don't include the original game & updates so far.
That's ridiculuos for just a game that its premise is to kill , die and respawn.
I would be interested to know how many gigs of it is paid addon content like skins...
At this rate, it will soon struggle to fit on the next-gen consoles too.
LOL. Activision cares not about your drive. Cannot be bothered to optimize.
Shrink your damn file sizes geez. Activision are ridiculous
